Going all the way back to the beginning, Who would be on a bootleg hall of fame? I'm thinking about working up a set based on classic characters from yester-year, and need some direction on cards people remember and would like to see brought into the current generation of CotG.

Ahh characters.....some really good ones were updated for GWFZ but I know there are still others. Pete Beck's gator tag team was a personal favorite of mine back in the day. Goldstein as well from the nGo days.

Akuma the Ninja and Armageddon, probably some of the other nGo cards.
@poisonedshadows Sentinals set and the follow up, whose name current escapes me because I'm old and I just woke up from a nap.
Terence "Fog" Horn
I'll have to think more on this when I wake up!

Thanks I will say, looking back at the old guys they need a good amount of TLC to modernize and make 'legal'. I had the grandiose idea of doing that (as you know already haha) but yikes its a lot of work. I would be onboard for a collection of some of the characters from way back in the day though. I know a lot of these went through the GWFZ set awhile back but I was only partially involved since my characters were entered by chewey on my behalf. Wish I still had that stack of cards, it did not survive my latest move though sadly. I did like how a of bootleg creators basically had their own 'territories' so you could really pool together an interesting mix of guys if that was what you wanted to do. Mixing and matching different styles and personas was super fun. I would propose a Jamie Wilson character of course. I have a few random guys in my stack of old bootleg if you need some reference material. I'm sure others do too, but I have a lot of his guys that I redid art for and made cards for as well. Maybe even someone related to Crow (since the Kobe faction has a variety of characters and most folks from that time would know Crow). Just thinking of building off some of the characters that are already well represented and building on that. I guess it would depend what sort of vibe you are aiming for. I think if you reworked the stats you could do a nice best of and highlight all the different style of cards folks made. Some are definitely more in the COTG style while others tap into the late 90s attitude/hardcore vibe.

Yes, JBW characters were great too. Mr. Strevel had some good characters too.

I’m really honored that you would mention me in this thread.
