Blackhawks Hall of Fame goaltender Tony Esposito dies at 78 Tony Esposito, a Hall of Fame goaltender who played almost his entire 16-year career with the Chicago Blackhawks, has died following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer Esposito debuted with Montreal during the 1968-69 season and appeared in 13 games. He was then taken by the Blackhawks in an intraleague draft, quickly emerging as one of the league's best goalies. He won the Calder Trophy in 1970 as the NHL's best rookie as well as the Vezina Trophy given to the top goaltender. He also won the Vezina in 1972 and 1974. Esposito is Chicago's career leader with 418 wins and 74 shutouts, including 15 during his rookie season. in shutouts (74) and wins (418). He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1988 and joined his brother Phil, who played 18 seasons in the NHL.

Brad Allan, Shang-Chi Stunt Coordinator And Jackie Chan Stuntman, Dies At 48 Bradley James Allan, Australian stuntman, stunt coordinator, and actor has died at the age of 48. Allan was a famous member of Hollywood's stuntwork world, having been a member of Jackie Chan's stunt team for years; he is also the supervising stunt coordinator and second-unit director on Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the martial arts action epic hitting theaters in September. Jackie Chan shared the news of Bradley James Allan's passing on his personal website, stating that "A fourth generation JC Stunt team member, Bradley James Allan, also passed away from illness….". At the time of writing this, no specifics on that supposed illness have been given. In the longer segment of his blog post, Jackie Chan eulogizes Allan through an anecdote about their work together on the 1997 film Mr. Nice Guy:

American Anime Pioneer, Astro Boy Anime Producer Fred Ladd Passes Away at 94 American television and film writer and producer, and North American anime pioneer Fred Ladd (Fred Laderman) passed away on August 3. He was 94. Ladd was instrumental in introducing anime to North America. In 1963, Ladd re-edited and re-dubbed the Tetsuwan Atom anime, based on Osamu Tezuka's manga, into Astro Boy. This was the first anime to air in North America. He also produced the Gigantor (Iron Man 28) and Kimba the White Lion (Jungle Emperor Leo) anime in the 1960s. Ladd was a creative consultant for DiC Entertainment's original English dub of Sailor Moon.

Una Stubbs death: Sherlock and Worzel Gummidge star dies aged 84 Actor Una Stubbs, known for her roles in TV series such as Worzel Gummidge, Sherlock and EastEnders, has died at the age of 84. Her agent said she died at home in Edinburgh, surrounded by her family. They told BBC News she had been ill for several months. Stubbs, who was born in Hertfordshire, rose to fame in the 1960s, when she starred alongside Cliff Richard in Summer Holiday and also appeared in the films Swingers’ Paradise, Three Hats for Lisa and Till Death Do Us Part. She has hardly been off the screen since then. In recent years, Stubbs won new generations of fans as Mrs Hudson, the caring landlady of 221B and 221C Baker Street in the BBC series Sherlock, alongside Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.

Bill Wright Sr., longtime radio and TV personality, dies at 92 Known on the air as Bill “The Rebel” Wright and “Uncle Bill,” Mr. Wright associated with such stars as Dick Clark, Rosemary Clooney, Elvis Presley, Chubby Checker, Dinah Shore, and countless others.
