I’m the heyday of my wrestling fandom as a kid, I was a big LJN collector. One weekend, my parents took me to a local street fair and the only reason I was excited to go was because on the street where the fair was was a Mervyns. And Mervyns sold LJNs. I had $20 I’d saved up and brought it along to buy one. Maybe two.
We slowly made our way through the street fair and the wait to get to Mervyns was KILLING me. When we finally got there I went up to the toy section and saw Corporal Kirchner on the rack and snagged it. I took it to the counter and reached into my pocket and…no money. It must have fallen out of my pocket at some point. I was heartbroken.
My dad admonished me. Told me I needed to take better care of my money. He then bought the figure and told me I’d have to pay him back, which I eventually did.
Event to this day when I see a Corporal Kirchner LJN I think of that day.
RIP Corporal Kirchner. Thanks for teaching me a lesson.

Thanks for teaching me a lesson. Great story, TB! $20 to a kid back then was an ASTRONOMICAL amount! I'm sure it took at least a few months to pay that back (unless you found the money if it had been misplaced or something?), so it was a VERY valuable lesson learned! Just a quick question (you don't have to answer): Did you ever meet him and tell him about this? I'm sure he would've enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing! Todd C WTIC

Kirchner was one of my favorite LJNs.... somewhere in my moms picture collection is a photo of me playing out a big match between Corporal Kirchner and King Kong Bundy (with Capt Lou) and Bundy is tied in the ropes as Kirchner is going for the attack!
RIP Corporal Kirchner/Leatherface

My figure was in a lot I bought from a friend of mine who was done with his figures.

I’d have to look.

Told this story many times before - In 1980s when we first got Sky Tv there was WWF . German Channel RDF (?) for NWA/WCW in German . Screensport it showed a small indie fed with about 50 people in the crowd . Main event was usually USA (Corporal Kirchner) v Vietnamese guy . They also had a black heel prisoner tag team in orange jumpsuits called "Chain gang" Anyone know what fed it was ? . That is how I saw him . RIP
