I have been playing Superstar Pro Wrestling, but having just discovered this game I think it's more what I am looking for. I just have a few questions first.
1) In SPW, I created my own Federation, with custom wrestlers that I created. I would like to port that Fed and those wrestlers over to this game and continue playing under COTG rules. I see that this game has an official setting and wrestlers, with many expansions. Are there rules for creating your own federation/wrestlers or would I have to do alot of house rules and homebrewing to make that work?
2) If the above is possible without a lot of extra work, which starter set would you recommend? Would the GWF New Beginnings 2119 Starter Set contain everything I need to get started? I'm not really sure what the key difference is between that set and GWF Legends 2125 Color Starter Set, which is twice the price. It's in color and has 44 blank cards plus 10 pre-made wrestlers as opposed to 37 pre-made wrestlers in the New Beginnings set? There is also the GWF COTG Original 2087 Starter Set, which is in black & white (don't care if a set is in color or not, so that's unimportant to me) and is the cheapest. Do all these sets have the same basic rules? I realize the background stuff for the official setting would be different, but for my purposes that doesn't matter. If the core rules are the same in all sets, I could go with the cheapest one and just make up my own wrestlers.
3) Do any of the expansions add new rules, or are they all new wrestlers/background info for the official setting? If they add new rules, are there any that you'd recommend I pick up with the starter box?
Thanks in advance for any answers, the game looks great.

Not so much fed (as that's just an individual thing) but there are official rules for making wrestlers and people who are more than wlling to help.
There's a few minor rules but pretty much the handbook explains all the general ones.
I would suggest starting with the start of color 2125 but it really doesn't matter too much. Just jump in the area where you feel most comfortable.

Just so you know, neither of the sets you mentioned come with blank cards. They are all pre-made cards. At one time FG did sell blank cards but I’m not sure they do anymore. If you by either of those sets, all the cards will be pre-made.

CotG has such a rich history to it from the very first set 2087 to the most current 2136. Every one of us has our personal favorite era throughout the years. Just many of us have our own personal favorite wrestlers face or heel. Which ever starter set you choose you can't go wrong as you will enjoy the writing, the characters, but most of all it's up to you promoter!
So, enjoy!

I think Troy is right. Color 2125 is a great place to start. B&W sets are mostly the same as their color counterparts, but only color sets are released now. Welcome aboard. You will love this game. And the FG community is the absolute best in the world & always willing to help in anyway. A very generous & creative group.

Thanks, everyone. I went with the 2119 New Beginnings set, but it was a hard choice as I kinda wanted the original 2086 set because of 80's nostalgia. I'll probably get that set too, eventually. Looking forward to playing.
