Over the years I've run many royal rumble type matches in my legends, indies & even when I was doing CotG. I was wondering if any has ever had anyone win from the 1 or 2 spot?
Last night I did a Chikara Infinite Gauntlet (a 33 person rumble) and Oleg came in at #1, eliminated entrants 2-9 and lasted until the final 3 before Flex Rumblecrunch eliminated him, and he was then eliminated by Hallowicked to win the match. Oleg finished with 12 eliminations!
Anyone else have someone with such an incredible run?

I'm fascinated by this topic, but I've never actually run one because I don't have a good set of rules for one. Can someone point me in the right direction?

No
But instead of Royal Rumbles I now have more Battle Royals . More chances of some feud actions be involved . When I did Royal Rumble one would draw say 4 and hated opponent would get 21 . One was well done before his opponent got it . Okay we know WWE one is rigged ? Come on how often does hated opponent come out next after them ?

I've been doing these forever, not sure where I got the idea but some tweaks on a normal battle royal. -PIN & Out of the Ring is attempted elimination (roll pin) - each attempted elimination (successful or not) is a new entry (limit of 14 in the ring at a time) - every time two wrestlers are fighting and control is reversed, I switch to the next group of wrestlers. Ex. Blassie is on offense against Tolos, Tolos reverses and takes over on level 2 offense, i put a marker on Tolos level 2 offense and move on to Brazil vs The Sheik.

The Rigel Rumble is always my second PPV after the Deimos Perennial where the winner of the singles and tag-team rumbles win a title shot that can be cashed in anytime and they can pick the stipulations of the match.

I have used similar rules "j" posted above as the PIN or Out of Ring count as official battle royal elimination attempts in the original handbook. Usually brought someone in after an elimination as it resolved an empty ring issue. I like the attempted elims to bring a person in as I have used 5 or 10 rules in the past.
The reversal of control is interesting since I usually just switched wrestlers when things got caught in the loop and then would switch after one wrestler got control and did not land an elimination attempt. Will tweak what I do to this as it works better.
I only run 2 Rumbles a year: 1 for the men and 1 for women. I do use other battle royals but may add a tag-team rumble so we can use the battle royal chart. Great post.

I always had a heck of a time trying to do a battle royale or Royal Rumble match (they just seem to take forever lol) But one of the BEST memories i had with COTG was when Wildcat ended up winning the whole thing back when his card first came out what a cool happening that was, eliminated Chaos! what a match

Believe it or not, I have never done a royal rumble or battle royal match in my fed. I always wanted to, but have a feeling that I would sit there having the same 2 guys fight it out for too long. I might give it a try this weekend and see how it goes.

Battle Royals and Royal Rumbles aren't really a thing for me simply because its hard to simulate more than one fight going on at a time.
