The problem with it is....it really breaks suspension as a finisher....how do you not...elbow him, stomp him, snap mare him, or about ten thousand other counters? I guess because the guy was already down. The finisher renders him incapable of fighting it off - of course unless he does and survives the finisher - then you say the opponent did exactly what you said.

I always pictured Whiplash bending both of his opponents thumbs back at the same time so he would have more control.

Well, it’s his Finisher, so maybe you’re just so beaten down you can’t think straight. I always pictured it as he’s straddling their back with one arm up and that thumb getting crushed by both hands, so there’s no simple counter and the pain is so intense that the victim taps out quick.
It’s up to you, Promoter!

When I was in Lima, Peru, I went to the Museum of the Inquisition and I can imagine that Whiplash has probably perfected a way to make that finisher especially torturous.

I actually liked Whiplash's THUMBSCREW. You ever try to bend your thumb backwards as far as you could? Try it. Then bend it back a little bit more. Hurts like a monkey farmer. I thought the small digit manipulation fit perfectly with his evolution from an executioner to a torturer. I saw it as a Fujiwara armbar with him also pulling on the thumb.

Yeah, with an armbar or ankle lock you can hold an opponent off, but there's really no believable way to hold a conscious opponent's hand and bend the thumb back. Even if you had them in a jiu-jitsu type armbar hold, they can still close their fist...and why would you bother with the thumb if you had them there.

I get what you guys are saying, but I gotta be honest. My suspension of disbelief was kinda blown when he put the THUMBSCREW on a lizard. I stand by it and hope it stays.
