The Chesapeake Wrestling Grand Prix Championship Committee proudly announces that we will be hosting professional wrestling events in the Chesapeake Bay region under the banner of "Wrestling By The Bay" 

The CWGP will showcase some of the top independent talent from around the world, and occasionally feature your favorite professional wrestling legends!

First on the agenda will be crowning the CWGP Heavyweight Champion. Sixteen wrestlers have been selected to participate in a Round Robin stage to be followed by a single elimination tournament. Each of these wrestlers is focused on going down in history as the first ever Heavyweight Champion as recognized by The CWGP! 

The sixteen men were grouped AT RANDOM into four groups. Each wrestler will face the other three members in head to head one on one competition. The top two of each group will continue on to the single elimination tournament. The groups are:

Group Stage Day One!
Feb 6, 2021 from the CWGP Arena

1. Group A: Blake Christian defeats Anthony Greene at 6;53 with a tombstone piledriver

2. Group B: Effy defeats Ace Austin at 4:11 with the Drag Queen Sleeper

3. Group C: Warhorse defeats Curt Stallion at 4:15 with the Scorpion Death Lock

4. Group D: Wheeler Yuta defeats Brian Pillman Jr at 2:06 with a Diving Elbow Drop
                    Many on the CWGP Championship Committee viewed Brian Pillman Jr as a favorite to win the entire tournament. To see him go down so quickly may have changed a lot of minds. 

5. Group A: Robbie Eagles defeats Matthew Justice at 12:49 via disqualification
                    Outside the ring, Matthew Justice picked up a chair and when the official warned him against using it, Justice shoved the referee and proceeded to hit Robbie Eagles multiple times! The official had no choice but to end the match. Justice left the ringside area in frustration while the trainer's team helped Robbie Eagles to the back.

6. Group B: Mance Warner defeats Alex Zayne at 14:03 with his Knee Strike

7. Group C: AJ Gray defeats Danhausen at 8:19 via disqualification
                    Danhausen picked up and threw AJ Gray over the barricade and into the fans area. The official was forced to call the disqualification based on the rules of the State Athletic Commission.

8. Group D: Tom Lawlor defeats Josh Briggs at 7:23 with the Cleveland Steamer

B: Mance Warner (Alex Zayne is my second pick)

C: WARHORSE (AJ Gray is my second pick)

D: "Filthy" Tom Lawlor (Josh Briggs would be my second pick, but Lawlor could win this entire tournament)

The Chesapeake Wrestling Grand Prix has released the standings after two rounds of the round robin and it looks like many of our groups are going to come down to the final day of matches to decide who moves on! 

With that said, it looks like we have two wrestlers from Group D locked into the single elimination tournament. The question Day 3 will answer is...who's ranked higher?

1.  Group A: Blake Christian defeated Robbie Eagles at 5:14 with ELIA

2. Group B: Mance Warner and Ace Austin ended at 5:42 in a double count out. The match spilled out of the ring and despite the officals warnings, the competitors did not reenter the ring. The official made the 10 count and declared it a double count out. 

3. Group C: Danhausen defeated Warhorse at 14:54 with a DEVOTION DDTHausen.

4. Group D: Tom Lawlor defeated Wheeler Yuta at 6:58 with a Bear Naked Choke

5. Group A: Matthew Justice defeated Anthony Greene at 8:58 with an Awesome Splash

6. Group B: Effy defeated Alex Zayne at 9:17 with a corner rear leg DDT

1. Quarter Final Match One: Curt Stallion defeated Robbie Eagles with a German suplex at 7:07

2. Quarter Final Match Two: Mance Warner defeated Wheeler Yuta with a Running Knee Strike at 8:56

3. Quarter Final Match Three: Matthew Justice defeated Warhorse with a Death Valley Driver at 4:29

4. Quarter Final Match Four: Tom Lawlor defeated Effy with a Master Blaster at 8:25

Championship Committee Announcement

Veda Scott made her way to the ring to address the fans. She explained that the CWGP has hired her to be the Championship Committee Spokesperson and she has a few announcements to make.

First up, Veda repeated a message already released. Very soon, a tournament for the CWGP Tag Team Championships will begin. While she wasn't in a position to announce the teams, she promised that the CWGP was in the process of finalizing the tournament announcement.

Veda then announced that tonight after the semi-final matches there will be a multi-competitor match involving all the wrestlers who didn't qualify for the tournament with an opportunity for a second chance. The winner of the second chance match, will receive a match against the CWGP Heavyweight Champion!

Speaking of second chances, Veda finally announced that the losers of the Semi-Final matches will later face each other in a Best of Five Series, and the winner of that will then be in line for a shot at the CWGP Heavyweight Championship!

Veda left while the crew readied the ring for the next matches.

5. Semi Final Match One: Mance Warner defeated Curt Stallion with a Lariat at 14:41

6. Semi Final Match Two: Matthew Justice defeated Tom Lawlor with a Death Valley Driver at 14:57

 7. Second Chance Match: Ace Austin defeated AJ Gray with The Fold at 15:23. Also involved in the match were Josh Briggs, Alex Zayne, Blake Christian, Brian Pillman Jr, Danhausen and Anthony Greene

8. CWGP Heavyweight Championship Finals: Matthew Justice defeated Mance Warner with an Impaler DDT at 8:51 to win the CWGP Heavyweight Championship!
