Just finished listening. Fascinating to hear Chuck talk. I didn’t realise about his work on Myst. I found myself thinking about what my favourite GWF Chuck drawing was. There were so many legendary ones. I guess I’d have to say Dreadnaught. It was so influential on me. I saw a lot of PWI ads and always thought the game sounded cool but the one featuring Dreadnaught and his feud with Alpha Force (even though they were not really feuding) I just kept looking at. I must of looked at for a good year on and off before ordering. He just looked so cool and of course alien. Eventually managed to get all the editions ordered (which being a young teen in another country wasn’t that simple from memory).
Great stuff and looking forward to the next one

I don't remember it coming up but he also did some art for Command & Conquer and Command & Conquer Red Alert. Which for any old school fans of it, the remaster that came out last year is quite good.

LOL, its funny listening to Carter trying to remember guys from 35 years ago. I have people that will message me saying they loved this piece of Cornette art and I wont even remember doing it...and thats only from a month or 2 years ago, lol. You do so much over time and it really becomes kind of a job and you just finish and go on to the next thing Not being much of an artist personally, that never crossed my mind how artists can forget about some of the work they do when they do so much. As you listen to this episode, it cracked me up that Chuck didn't recognize the Commissioner Carter drawing, since it was basically a self-caricature! Got to listen to this later tonight. Some of the early art remains the best to this day But the big question: Did he have any recollection of his fashion sensibilities of the time and the love of giant buckles and wide vertical stripes on pants? Bold stylistic decision that pirate fashion was en vogue in the late 2080s.

Finished the episode this morning on my run. Fantastic interview. So great to hear from Chuck. His art is so legendary. I've been looking through a lot of those early sets and I love how his art always has motion in it. Each piece looks like a snapshot of someone in motion. Justice's art is a great example. At first glance it looks like he's just standing there but then you notice that his weight is shifted just slightly to give the appearance that he's in motion coming towards the 'camera.' Certainly hope we see more of Chuck's art in the game in the future.
And I always thought Mayhem looked like Jay Leno. Nice to have it confirmed.
Great episode friends!

I Always thought the inspiration (from Leno) was there as well. The question should be: why did he think Leno would look good as a Gladiator?!

I was watching episodes of Last Man Standing last night, where Jay Leno is a recurring character. I will now always see him as the model for the man who did the Leap of Doom!
