Quarterfinals for the Mid American Title
1 Jackie Fargo finished off a pesky Koko Ware with a body slam. It looked like Koko was going to pull the upset with a pair of Missile Dropkicks and a gut wrench for a near fall but in the end Jackie used everything but the Atomic Drop to finally finish off Koko.
4 Masked Superstar defeated 5 Tommy Rich via disqualification when Rich busted out a piledriver on the table. Paul Morton quickly disqualified Rich for the move while everyone checked to make sure Superstar was all right. Rich said that Superstar had it coming for his various tactics over the years.
2 Austin Idol finished off 7 Bob Armstrong with the Las Vegas Leglock. Armstrong gave it a good run and had a few near falls but in the end, Idol's Leglock was too much and Bob was unable to continue.
3 Bill Dundee squeaked past 6 Dutch Mantell with the Superstar Bomb as Jimmy Hart threw a fit at ringside. This was incredibly close and if Jeff Jarrett had counted faster as Hart complained then Dirty Dutch would likely have won the match.

Four superb competitors heading into the semifinals... Impossible to pick a winner, but I think I'd like to see Idol take the gold... Fun times!

Very solid choice. None of the ones who advanced had it easy but they're all definitely capable of being champions. If Idol wins, I think Cornette is going to have a field day especially if Condrey and Eaton also grab gold.

I'm pulling for Austin Idol to win as well. Should be a fun finish to the tournament.

Mid American Tag Team Tournament Semifinals 1 Fabulous Ones finally bested The Moondogs after a double elbow smash on Spot while the referee was ejecting Rex from the ring. Keirn had some issues but he managed to reverse a headbutt into a sleeper and from there Lane went to work with his Savate Kick. Rex made one save but when he did a second, the referee forced him out of the ring and a quick Fab double team secured the victory.
2 Midnight Express clobbered 3 The Fantastics when Condrey pinned Fulton with the Midnight Massacre. This was a barn burner from the beginning with covers nearly immediately. The Fantastics had a shot but Eaton won a brawl on the floor and from there he and Condrey executed the Midnight Massacre. Rogers was unable to make a save and the referee counted three.
Non Tournament Matches
In a captain's match, Tracy Smothers bested Eddie Gilbert when referee Jeff Jarrett caught Eddie Gilbert using a chain. This was fairly short as it went back and forth. Gilbert had Smothers in trouble after a figure four but his cheating was noticed by Jarrett who called for the bell much to Gilbert's irritation.
Exotic Adrian Street put down Tommy Gilbert with the Crucifix. This was a back and forth match before Street caught Gilbert and quickly rolled him up for the pin.
Tommy Rich manhandled Lanny Poffo winning with the Thesz Press. Poffo got off to a fast start but a mistimed top rope leap gave Rich the advantage and he was all business from there. Poffo hung around for a while even escaping the Wildfire Sleeper but in the end, the Thesz Press was too much.
Mid American Tag Team Tournament Finals 2 Midnight Express took down 1 The Fabulous Ones following a Condrey Face First Leg Sweep on Stan Lane. This was a very nice match but in the end Condrey put down a weary Stan for the three count while Eaton tied up Keirn to stop any pin save. The Midnight Express are the first Mid American Tag Team Champions.

Always enjoy seeing the Exotic One in action... Fortunately, he hasn't fallen victim to a hair vs. hair predicament in the X Zone and still possesses his golden locks. And the MX become the first to overcome a higher seed (realizing they were still seeded #2, so it can't be considered an upset by any means)... Claiming the belts in the process... Great stuff!

Indeed, though never say never here...especially if Beefcake or Buddy Rose makes a guest appearance.

Mid American Title Semifinals
Jackie Fargo dropped Masked Superstar with a jumping stomp. Superstar had a few shots but a missed diving headbutt gave Fargo the momentum and a big stomp to the head gave Fargo the victory and advanced him to the finals.
Austin Idol pinned Bill Dundee after blocking a sunset flip and used the ropes for leverage to score the pin. Idol dominated most of the match but he used a little trickery to secure his victory to advance. Jim Cornette celebrated at ringside.
Non Tournament Match Lanny Poffo won a 20 man Battle Royal eliminating Tracy Smothers for the win. Poffo managed to duck and dive and avoid anything until it was just him and Tracy. He then caught Tracy off guard with a shot to the throat to win. Smothers and Tommy Rich each had 3 eliminations. Smothers was Poffo's only elimination.
Mid American Tournament Final No Countouts, No Disqualifications, No one allowed at ringside Jackie Fargo put away Austin Idol with a jumping stomp to win the title. Jackie dominated early but Idol made a big comeback and nearly had Fargo down. In the end though, Fargo made a comeback and used the big stomp to grab the title.
