BDW on IWTV: Lithium
05.29.2021 from Logan Square Auditorium, Chicago, ILMike Bailey vs.
Christian CasanovaChristian Casanova defeated Mike Bailey with a TOP ROPE SUCKA KICK at 24:24
Match Rating: 4.75
Match Notes: This was a spectacular opening contest between two of the best on the roster.
You almost didn't want to see either lose. The action was epic and back and forth the whole way. Both men hit dives to the outside, though Casanoza crashed and burned on one. Bailey attempted the ULTIMA WEAPON twice but missed both attempts. Still, he kicked out of a SUCKA KICK and a culture cutter!
Casanova was able to get the shoulder up after a GREEN TEA PLUNGE, and both men were knocked for a loop after dual superkicks!
The fans were crazy into the finishing stretch. Bailey hit an incredible triangle moonsault - his first of the match and then went for a triangle choke - trying to finish Casanova. Casanova somehow powered out and then hit the culture cutter for a near fall!
Culture Breaker and a springboard clothesline led to the TOP ROPE SUCKA KICK for a hard-fought 1, 2, 3!
Afterward, the two shook hands as Casanova now finds himself one win away from a Spirit Token and Bailey drops to (-1).
Great, great match.
The Wildcards vs.
MexiBloodBandido defeated Thom Latimer with a DQ at 8:30
Match Rating: 2.75
Match Notes: Bandido and Flamita make their BDW debut as MexiBlood in the tag team ranks.
Bandido looked great early and looked like he might have Royce Isaacs number. He hit a crucifix driver and even his finisher, the 21 PLEX. The Wildcards came back, though, and had no problem bending the rules repeatedly.
Bandido was punished mercilessly by the team and was never able to tag in his partner, Flamita. Thom Latimer pushed the limits between his power wrestling and dirty tactics. After a third low blow, the ref caught him and called for the match.
This is not how MexiBlood wanted to win their first match, and Royce Isaacs is not happy with his partner... They're one away from relegation!
Daniel Garcia vs.
Laredo KidLaredo Kid defeated Daniel Garcia with a LAREDO FLY at 18:22
Match Rating: 3.75
Match Notes: Garcia put on a clinic, there's no doubt, but it wasn't quite enough to counter the speed and explosiveness of Laredo Kid. The match felt like it could've gone either way a couple of times, and both men escaped finishers. Garcia had a rear-naked choke early and followed it with a crossface and the SHARPSHOOTER to no avail.
Laredo Kid came back big time and scored with several big moves. He got a near fall with a 630 and then finally finished Garcia with the LAREDO FLY! Big win for Laredo Kid to put him on the positive side, while Garcia - a top performer thus far in BDW - slides to (-1).
Gary Jay vs.
EffyGary Jay defeated Effy with a ROARING ELBOW at 2:15
Match Rating: 0.10
Match Notes: The Stiff Robo Ginger makes quite the impact in his debut match by dismantling Effy in quick fashion.
Jay and Effy jockeyed for position early, but Jay came out of the chain wrestling display with a tornado flatliner! Jay hit a sliding forearm, a big Death Valley Driver, and a second tornado flatliner to set up his ROARING ELBOW finisher and secure the win!
Second Gear Crew vs.
Violence Is ForeverDominic Garrini defeated Mance Warner with a SNAP PILEDRIVER at 18:03
Match Rating: 3.75
Match Notes: Great tag war. Garrini took it to Manders early and nearly had the win with THE MIGHTY MOUSE, but Manders fought back and eventually hit a huge LARIAT on Kevin Ku, but Ku kicked out. Manders tagged Warner in, and Warner immediately followed up with a LARIAT of his own. Garrini was in to break up the pin, and a huge brawl broke out!
After the ref restored order, the battle see-sawed between these two awesome teams until Violence is Forever was able to get the edge. Ku and Garrini hit LOST FINISH, but Manders was in, and things broke down for a second time!
Ku and Garrini came out on top, and Garrini hit the SNAP PILEDRIVER on Warner for the 1, 2, 3!
Big win for Violence Is Forever.
AJ Gray vs.
Tom LawlorAJ Gray defeated TomLawlor with an EMERALD FLOWSION at 18:03
Match Rating: 3.75
Match Notes: Great match. They went back and forth the whole time, and it had a little bit of everything. Lawlor had the edge early after some ping pong exchanges. He applied the REAR NAKED CHOKE, but Gray scrambled for the ropes.
Gray battled back and hit the EMERALD FLOWSION for a near fall. The action spilled outside, and the brawling favored both men, so neither had too much of an edge over the other.
Lawlor built a head of steam and scored a series of near falls with the MASTER BLASTER and a spinning Death Valley Driver. Both men felt the effects of their war, and Lawlor hesitated to follow up after a Cleveland Steamer.
Gray found his way back into the match with a big lariat and then the EMERALD FLOWSION to score the tenacious win.
Rip City Shooters vs.
Aussie OpenKyle Fletcher defeated Joshua Bishop with a GRIMSTONE at 12:06
Match Rating: 3.25
Match Notes: Man, Aussie Open are a team possessed. Davis and Fletcher dominated the match and never let Bishop tag out. Bishop was resilient, though, and would not stay down. Barkley attempted to save his partner when he could, but Aussie Open wouldn't let up.
Bishop exploded with some offense outside and hit a chokeslam on the apron late, but Davis was able to pull Bishop into the post headfirst to buy some time and recoup after the chokeslam. Bishop came up a
bloody mess, and Davis hit CLOSE YOUR EYES! Barkley broke it up, but Fletcher was tagged in and hit the GRIMSTONE to secure the win as Davis kept Barkley from making the save.
Aussie Open have earned their Spirit Token! And after their impressive displays of late, can the Besties In The World survive their onslaught?
- BDW Outlaw Spirit Championship Match -Blake Christian vs.
Matthew Justicefor the
BDW Outlaw Spirit ChampionshipBlake Christian defeated Matthew Justice with a HEART BLAKE DDT at 4:05
Match Rating: 0.10
Match Notes: What the what?!?! Yep, Blake Christian stormed the ring, moved like lightning, and struck twice as hard as Thor's hammer. Matthew Justice was completely rocked early with a basement 619 and then the powerslam/lionsault combo.
Christian did not let up and hit ELIA and a HEART BLAKE DDT but only got near falls.
Christian hit two more HEART BLAKE DDTs and got the 1, 2, 3 as the Second Gear Crew ran to ringside just too late to distract or run in!
We have a new Outlaw Spirit Champion!
Manders and Warner see to Justice as Christian is given the title! It's an unreal scene as The Besties come down to the ring to help Christian celebrate and watch his back... Justice is shocked and hurting. Christian mounts the turnbuckle and hoists the title high as the show comes to a close.
