You should start with PLANES TRANES ANDD AUTOMOBILES for Thanksgiving. I try and watch that every Thanksgiving since it was filmed right here in BATAVIA and my grandpa always claimed to have met John candy

It Is A Wonderful Life is THE best Christmas movie. Best movie period. It has it all. Love, romance, angels, fist fights, gun fights, car chases, singing, drama, war, comedy, babes, babies, alternate history. I own it as part of a double DVD pack. One in the original B&W and one in that Turner color thing. I almost always watch the B&W but have occasionally watched it in color to mix it up.
As far as Planes, Trains and Automobiles I sadly just realized that the hotel that is supposed to be Wichita is actually in IL and I had passed many times while living in IL. I live in FL now but if I ever get up that way I will stop by to check it out closer. I won't stay as they get busted for prostitution time to time and it was shady looking when I passed it.

so for me....for a Christmas movie, I like it to have something to do with Christmas, not simply be set in December around holiday time but obviously others won't care.
I think I'd like IAWL better if they had gone through with the villain comeuppance but in in the end, it's a small flaw.

It's funny @on the edge I was the same way about scenes that were filmed here. I was like I feel like I've seen that field before and my grandpa was like it's right there and i didn't believe him lol

It is why Meet Me in St. Louis was retired after only one viewing for this tradition, which will be in its fifth year this year that we have been a couple together. For my money the final 30 minutes of Meet Me in St. Louis has one of the greatest Christmas movie scenes ever - Judy Garland straight up killing Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Just fantastic.
