World Tag Cup 2021 by the Game

32 of the best tag teams from the black & white era will compete in World Cup format to crown the best tag team

Competing tag teams were divided into eight groups of four teams (groups A to H). Teams in each group wrestle one another in a round-robin, with the top two teams in each group advancing to the knockout stage. The teams per group are as follows:

Top two teams in each group will move on to the 16 team Knockout Stage. The Knockout Stage is a 16 team single elimination tournament. Match-up's as follows:

Broup B winner v Group A runner-up
Group D winner v Group C runner-up
Group F winner v Group E runner-up
Group H winner v Group G runner-up

Tournament will continue until only one team stands as the World Cup Champions

EDIT: I haven't decided what to use for tie-breakers. Hoping I don't run into that situation but if I do I may possibly use tokens.

Bull (2 tokens) & Fred (4 tokens) Curry d. Al Costello (7 tokens) & Roy Heffernan (2 tokens)


The brutality of Bull combined with the agility of Fred prove to be too much for the Kangaroos. Costello takes an ugly bump to the outside of the ring and can't meet the officials count. The Currys win by count out and pick up one point

Nick Bocwinkel (0 tokens) & Ray Stevens (4 tokens) d. Chris (3 tokens) & John (3 tokens) Tolos


This match could've went anyway. Both teams came out strong hitting big moves but neither team giving up. The end was disappointing as John Tolos loses control and nails Stevens with a chair outside the ring and is disqualified in the process

Antonio Inoki (1 token) & Giant Baba (6 tokens) d. Butcher (1 token) & Mad Dog (3 tokens) Vachon


Exciting match as both teams take turns controlling the match. The Vachons worked over Giant Baba and scored near pinfalls against him. Ultimately Inoki takes over and scores the win for his team with a top rope kneedrop on Butcher for the win

Group B Match Two


Billy Red Lyons (2 tokens) & Red Bastien (5 tokens) d. Bob Sr (8 tokens) & Bob Jr (6 tokens) Orton


Another very good and exciting match. The Flying Reds took control early really working over Junior. The Ortons are able to come back and turn things around and nearly take the match. But the Reds were not staying down and turned things back to their favor with quick tag moves. The end comes as Bastien hits Senior with an Atomic Drop for the win

Mr Fuji (0 tokens) & Mr Saito (3 tokens) d. Curt (7 tokens) & Larry (0 tokens) Hennig


Young Hennig take the brunt of the offense from Fuji/Saito. Larry tries to sway things in their favor but it's not enough. The fall come when Saito pins Curt with the Saito Suplex
