NOTE: After running a few TV tapings, I discovered that Treasure Island Resort and Casino is actually located in Welch, MN, not Red Wing. Welch is only a few miles away and most local Minnesotans refer to Treasure Island as being the casino "in" or "near" Red Wing. So, I am rewriting my history and saying that TV has been in Welch all along. Great Lakes Championship Wrestling TV Tapings June 5, 2021 Treasure Island Resort & Casino: Welch, MN Show 7: June 191) Mad Dog and Butcher Vachon kicked off the show with a dominant win over Red Tyler and Todd Becker. The Algerians stormed the ring and attacked their opponents as Mick Karch was finishing ring introductions. Butcher and Becker were the legal men, as Mad Dog slammed Becker’s head into the ring post, keeping him out of the match. This was Butcher’s first GLCW match and he looked impressive. He tagged to his brother who finished off Tyler with a gutbuster in four minutes. Mad Dog told Mick after that the Vachons were going to destroy Great Lakes Heavyweight Dan Severn and Al Snow next week on TV and that the beating would be so severe, that KSTC-TV may need to censor their actions! 2) “Cowboy” Bob Orton, Jr. (3) bounced back from his loss last week. Although he barely got by Jake “The Milkman” Milliman (2) scoring the pinfall with less than a minute left in the match. Milliman gave Orton some anxious moments, blocking his Orton Bomb with knees to the stomach, then slamming Orton and hitting the second rope head butt for a two-count. Milliman came off the top rope with a shoulder tackle for another two-count. Orton Jr. took control and finally scored the pinfall after a released double underhook suplex. Mick asked the “Cowboy” is his loss to Manny Fernandez has gotten in his head. Orton said it was just a small setback and he is focused on winning the Great Lakes Heavyweight championship at the Brown County Arena! Video aired of Ed “Strangler” Lewis’ championship victory over Lou Thesz to become the first WWWA World Heavyweight champion on May 20 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil! 3) “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka was victorious in four minutes over Nacho Barrera. The Fijian warrior largely dominated the Mexican grappler. He hit a power slam, then went up top and hit his famous Superfly Leap to score the pinfall. The Treasure Island fans were on their fit for Snuka! “Ringside” Ralph Strangis ran down the card for GLCW’s return to the Brown County Arena in Ashwaubenon, WI on June 27! NEW*"The Russian Lion” George Hackenschmidt will take on Mikey Whipwreck! *“Superfly” Jimmy Snuka will battle the brawler The Sandman! *In a rematch from St. Paul, The Long Riders will take on Baron Von Raschke and Johnny Saint! *Mad Dog Vachon will tangle with “The Ragin’ Bull” Manny Fernandez! *Mad Dog’s brother Butcher Vachon will take on Al Snow! *Frank Gotch will grapple with rival Evan “Strangler” Lewis! *Jim Brunzell and Jerry Lynn will defend the Great Lakes Tag Team titles against the former champs The Rock ‘n Roll Express! Each team holds a victory over the others in matches that saw the losing team not get the chance to tag. Will all four wrestlers compete and who will win this “rubber match”? *The main event will be for the Great Lakes Heavyweight championship, as Dan “The Beast” Severn defends the title against “Cowboy” Bob Orton, Jr.! Orton’s alleged medically required cast made a difference against his rival Manny Fernandez. Can it bring him the Great Lakes title? Get your tickets now! 4) The Great Lakes Tag Team champions Jim Brunzell (3) & Jerry Lynn (3) battled The PitBulls (#1 [1] & #2) to a 20-minute time-limit draw in a non-title match. Francine’s powerhouses really gained the attention of not only the champions but the wrestling world as they took the champs to the limit. Brunzell and Lynn had a lot of control but couldn’t keep “The Original Dogs of War” down. Near the end of the bout, Lynn and PitBull #2 were brawling outside the ring. Brent Fillmore was distracted by “Jumping” Jim and PitBull #1 inside the ring and didn’t see Francine hand #2 his large chain. #2 smashed Lynn in the head with it and then tossed him back into the ring. As Brunzell returned to their corner, PitBull #1 tagged back in. Francine grabbed Brunzell’s ankle from the outside, while the South Philly brawlers executed the super bomb. #1 went to make a cover but the bell rang to end the match. You can bet that Francine’s men will want another match with the champs after taking them to the limit! Next week on Great Lakes Championship Wrestling, Tully Blanchard is back in action, as well as the popular duo of Baron Von Raschke and Johnny Saint! Fans will also see Evan “Strangler” Lewis for the first time on TV when battles Mikey Whipwreck! And in the featured bout, the Great Lakes Heavyweight champion Dan “The Beast” Severn will be in action for the first time at Treasure Island when he teams with Al Snow to battle The Vachons! All this from Treasure Island Resort and Casino!

Fantastic that NachoMania is (almost) running wild in the great state of Minnesota... I realize that Snuka was victorious, but I just know that Barrera pushed him to the limit over the course of those 240 grueling seconds... TRUTH!

SOUTH COAST CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING 6/12/2021 Card #6 – McDonald Sportatorium – Lake Charles, LA
Welcome to South Coast Championship Wrestling! Join us now for the fast-paced competition of professional wrestling featuring the top grapplers from the nation’s largest governing body, the World Wide Wrestling Alliance. We’ve got a pro debut, some great rematches, and a hotly contested title match in the main event tonight, so let’s get to the action…
Brian Armstrong b Mike Masters The debut of the youngest Armstrong went well. After a slow start, he defeated unheralded Mike Masters with a sleeper.
“Handsome” Jimmy Valiant b Brad Armstrong Back to back matches for the Armstrong family, although this one didn’t end as well for Brad. Valiant scored a controversial victory using the ropes for leverage after landing a hard elbow drop.
Tom Prichard & D’Lo Brown cor Dirty Daltons Prichard & Brown are starting to hit on all cylinders, but the veteran Daltons are doing everything they can to muck up the engine. The Daltons were on the run for most of this contest and Johnny got hit by a spectacular dive to the floor from D’Lo and was counted out. Another win for the popular duo, although the Daltons are clinging to the fact that they have not been pinned yet.
Ray Stevens b Jerry Brisco Another great showing for Jerry where he still came out on the wrong end of the decision. Stevens struggled with Brisco’s speed throughout the match. The Destroyer showed up at ringside, which served as a momentary distraction, allowing Stevens to hit a jumping knee smash for the win.
“Luscious” Johnny Valiant dq Steve “Doctor Death” Williams This was a rematch requested by Williams from a show in Alexandria a few weeks ago. History repeated itself, as Doc completely dominated the action, bouncing Valiant around the ring like at will. But, in the end, it was Valiant who got his hand raised by once again goading Williams into getting disqualified. Although barely coherent, Valiant claimed he should have been the SCCW representative in the WWWA World Title tournament.
SCCW Championship: HARLEY RACE b Ted DiBiase Another successful title defense where Race owed the victory completely to cohorts J.J. Dillon and Larry Hennig. To his credit, Race had DiBiase in trouble several times during the match. However, DiBiase never gave up and made a tremendous comeback busting Race open in the process. With the fans screaming their support, DiBiase was about to get the win when Dillon literally pulled referee Tommy Weathers out of the ring during the three count! While Weathers recovered on the floor, Race and Larry Hennig Dillon brutally double teamed DiBiase. Scott Casey hit the ring and took Hennig down and they rolled out onto the floor. Meanwhile, Weathers crawled back in the ring in time to see Race cover an unconscious DiBiase and counted the pin.
An unbelievable way to end the evening, and Ted DiBiase was reportedly up in arms once he recovered a bit in the locker room. Clearly, those two men still have some unfinished business to take care of. We’re off to Mississippi next, and here’s what our great fans in Gulfport can look forward to:
* We will see the “Leader of Men” J.J. Dillon face the wrestler he calls the “false idol” of the fans, former South Coast champ Brian Blair!
* The battle over the South Coast Title has become a scorcher, and the Gulfport fans will feel the heat when Harley Race teams with Larry “The Axe” Hennig to take on Ted DiBiase and “Cowboy” Scott Casey! There is bad blood between all these competitors and this one could get crazy!
* A huge tag-team main event has been signed that will see Jack & Jerry Brisco square off against The Intelligent Sensational Destroyer and his partner Ray Stevens! This is one feud that has been in the background for a while, but is ready to take center stage in Gulfport!
All this and much more next time at the Naval Construction Battalion Center!

DiBiase continues to prove that he has the talent and the tenacity to hang with the toughest S.O.B. on the South Coast... Unfortunately, Handsome Harley constantly has an ace up his sleeve to help him hang onto that belt.
Really looking forward to seeing the Brisco bro's in tag team action on the next card... Most excellent!

STAR SPANGLED WRESTLING: Card #6 (DC Armory, Washington, DC)
THE FIRST MATCH: Angelo Poffo b. Koko B. Ware, body slam (**3/4). Poffo gains a measure of revenge from losing on Card 1 to Koko, and wracks up his 2nd win in a row...he may be able to qualify for the Junior Heavyweight Title limit, and if so, could be in line for a title shot!
THE SECOND MATCH: George Steele b. Rod Fenton, flying hammerlock (**1/4). Fans once again delighted to see the unorthodox Fenton enter the ring, bottle in tow, but alas, he was defeated tonight in a return bout from Card #3. Steele looked in, relatively speaking at least, good form for him! After the match, during a post match interview, Fenton reiterated his #1 target is still Wild Bull Curry, who busted Fenton open badly in Card 4...
THE THIRD MATCH: *United States Junior Heavyweight Championship: George Tragos COR Danny Hodge (c) (3rd title defense) when Hodge spilled out of the ring, and landed awkwardly on the concrete floor (***). Match was heating up when Hodge took his unfortunate tumble, giving Tragos the win, but denying him the title. Will Tragos get a rematch, or will Angelo Poffo be next in line for the Junior Strap??
THE FOURTH MATCH: Bobo Brazil DQ The Iron Sheik (**1/4). Not much to write home about in this one fans, as the match went to Fist City early, and Bobo repaid the Iron Sheik's fire with some of his own!
SEMI-MAIN EVENT: Larry Zbyszko b. Dick Hutton, piledriver (**3/4). Larry Z. derails Dick Hutton's recent momentum, but continues his own, as he's 2-0 with 2 clean victories since he has debuted in SSW. He's firmly in the US Heavyweight Title picture. Hutton started out fast in this one, but Zbyszko just was too much in the end.
MAIN EVENT: Lou Thesz b. Killer Kowalski, dropkicks (***). Lou Thesz makes a triumphant debut in SSW, defeating one of SSW's toughest foes, and firmly establishing himself on the scene. Lou has not declared any allegiances so far, but we do know this: He is no fan of the "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers! We'll be closely following Mr. Thesz and his exploits in SSW, to be sure...welcome Sweet Lou!
Next Card: Star Spangled Wrestling rolls into the Richmond Arena in Richmond, VA for Card #7 fans, and there promises to be no shortage of fireworks! Our Main Event will see The Fantastics defend their United States Tag-Team Championships against 'Da Crusher and Jackie Fargo...talk about a clash of styles! And, in our Semi-Main Event, we'll see United States Heavyweight Champ Jim Londos and Bobo Brazil take on Buddy Rogers and Johnny Valentine (with Rock Riddle at ringside). All this, plus more action-packed bouts as well! And, we'll get the formal announcement as to who will face Jim Londos next for the United States Title...will it be Blackjack Mulligan (we're betting on this one fans), Rogers in a rematch, or Larry Zbyszko?? Don'tcha Dare Miss It!

Great Lakes Championship Wrestling TV Tapings Treasure Island Resort & Casino: Welch, MN Show 8: June 26 (Taped June 5)
1) Tully Blanchard picked up a win over Red Tyler (1). Blanchard offered a handshake to Tyler to start the bout, which Tyler accepted but it led into a hair pull takedown! Tyler got fired up and pounded away on Blanchard. He whipped him into the buckle but Blanchard cut him off with a double boot to the face. Blanchard quickly followed up with the slingshot suplex to score the pinfall in two minutes. Blanchard gloated about his skills to Mick Karch after but did not have much to say about his recuperating father Joe Blanchard!
2) Baron Von Raschke and Johnny Saint defeated Nacho Barrera (1) & The Black Panther (3). Barrera had some initial offense against Saint but the British technician surprised him with his quick reversals. The Panther tagged in and the European fan favorites kept him in the ring the rest of the bout, showcasing great team work for a new team. The 10-minute time limit almost expired but with 15 seconds left, Von Raschke hit a running knee smash and tagged Saint. Saint locked on his Three-in-One (a version of the Octopus) and forced the Panther to submit with just a few seconds left! The duo was interviewed by Mick afterward. Saint thanked the fans for their support and said they hope they do them proud on June 27. Von Raschke said “those pathetic cowboys” the Long Riders will pay for their ambush in St. Paul and “That is all the people need to know!”
Video of a special interview aired with the first WWWA World Heavyweight champion Ed “Strangler” Lewis! The interview was conducted by WWWA correspondent and host of Pro Wrestling This Week (which covers all the WWWA territories) Gordon Solie! Solie congratulated Lewis on his impressive win in the one-night tournament in Rio de Janeiro. Lewis said that the competition was tough but he fought hard and pulled off the win. He told Gordon that he will defend the title against any wrestler from any of the WWWA territories! He said that he has been keeping an eye on Great Lakes Championship Wrestling and the results there and that he will be back in the ring in this area in the near future!
3) Evan “Strangler” Lewis scored a submission win on Mikey Whipwreck in five minutes. The Buffalo, NY native Whipwreck looked like he could pull off the huge upset on Lewis! Lewis got frustrated and got more aggressive. He slapped on the stranglehold and got the tap out. Lewis did not initially release the hold after the bell but finally did. Officials swarmed the ring to help Whipwreck. As Mick talked to Lewis, he was joined by George Hackenschmidt. Lewis pointed to Whipwreck being carried out of Treasure Island and said that “he doesn’t stand a chance with Hackenschmidt” tomorrow at Brown County Arena. He then said that’s two victims of the stranglehold and he plans to add Frank Gotch next and then that “bogus Strangler” Ed Lewis and take home the World championship!
Teddy Long was interviewed after the commercial break. He said that he knows Big Van Vader is playing hardball and therefore, he has upped his offer for the big man to return for a match with the Great Gama to $10,000! He also said that he has had his eye on a lot of talent here in GLCW and he is going to be drawing up contracts and making offers for more wrestlers to join the Playas’ Club!
4) The Vachons picked up a quick and controversial win via disqualification over Al Snow and Great Lakes Heavyweight champion Dan “The Beast” Severn. The Treasure Island fans actually didn’t get to see the champion wrestle, as he never tagged in. Snow and Butcher started off the bout for their respective teams and went back-and-forth. Butcher gained control and tagged to Mad Dog, who worked over Snow and then tossed him out of the ring. Butcher came over with one of the Vachons’ chains and tried to attack Snow but Snow cut him off with a karate kick to the midsection. He then grabbed his karate bo staff and nailed Butcher with it. Mad Dog reached through the ropes but Snow nailed him with the bo as well. Unfortunately, Billy J. saw this and disqualified Snow and Severn. As the Vachons retreated to the back, Mick talked to Severn and Snow. Snow apologized for his actions and said that he would get his revenge on Butcher in the ring tomorrow at Brown County Arena! Severn said he did not hold it against his training partner, as the Vachons got what they deserved. He then turned his attention to his challenger “Cowboy” Bob Orton, Jr. He said he doubts that Orton really needs a cast but if he’s truly fighting injured, he will be no match for Severn’s wrestling and submission skills and will quickly tap!
Mick and “Ringside” Ralph Strangis wrapped up the show. Mick said he had heard from WWWA officials that because Evan “Strangler” Lewis released the stranglehold more quickly on Mikey Whipwreck than on Joe Blanchard, Whipwreck was not as severely injured and does plan to compete tomorrow against George Hackenschmidt! Ralph ran down the card for the return to Brown County Arena one last time!
*”The Russian Lion” George Hackenschmidt will take on Mikey Whipwreck! What condition will Whipwreck be in after suffering Evan Lewis’ stranglehold?

Great to get a double shot of WWWA medicine, courtesy of Star Spangled Wrestling out of Washington, DC followed by a taped episode of Great Lakes Championship Wrestling from the Treasure Island Resort & Casino!
Truly impressed that Tragos was able to score that victory over Hodge... Wondering of that technical decision will be enough to get him a rematch... And win, lose or otherwise, I'm always stoked to see Lightning Rod Fenton in action... Bull Curry wants to keep that head covered because a beer bottle makes a wicked weapon... Up close OR from a distance! HA!
In other news, Teddy Long trying to lure Vader back to go one-on-one with the Great One is outstanding... Hope it happens!
