Great Lakes Championship Wrestling TV Tapings Treasure Island Resort & Casino: Welch, MN Show 10: July 10 (Taped July 3)
1) The Diamond Exchange tonight consisted of Diamond Dallas Page & King Kong Bundy (1) with “Ravishing” Randy Rose at ringside. Page and Bundy picked up a win in 8½ minutes over Buddy Lane and Jake “The Milkman” Milliman. Bundy missed his Atlantic City Avalanche on Milliman a few minutes into the bout and Milliman covered him for what would have been a huge upset but Bundy kicked out. Milliman and Lane had some offense against the New Jersey giant but he battled back and tagged DDP. Page and Bundy took control of Lane and Page hit his Diamond Cutter to score the pinfall. In an interview after, Page said that the Diamond Exchange would love to add the diamonds of the Great Lakes Tag Team championship to their collection! He then gave Mick Karch a “Good God!” before leaving the interview area.
After break, Teddy Long reminded Mick and Ralph Strangis that his announcement of his newest Playas’ Club members will come later in the show! The manager held up a briefcase, claiming the signed contracts for his two new wrestlers were in there.
2) “The Ragin’ Bull” Manny Fernandez defeated Nacho Barrera (1) in six minutes with the Flying Burrito. Fernandez told Mick after that he is very excited to have earned a Great Lakes Heavyweight championship shot on July 25. He said he has all the respect in the world for Dan “The Beast” Severn but he is going to wrestle and fight his hardest to take home the gold!
3) The Long Riders defeated Red Tyler and Todd Becker in about 90 seconds. The Irwins kept Tyler in for the entire match, as Scott pounded on him. Scott tagged his brother and then whipped Tyler into the ropes. Bill came in and blasted Tyler on the rebound with the float kick and scored the pin before Becker could wrestle! The Irwins told Mick that they are looking forward to capturing the Great Lakes Tag Team titles in Mankato from those “fake Minnesotans” Jim Brunzell and Jerry Lynn and reminding what “true, tough Minnesotans” look like!
“Ringside” Ralph went through the matches for July 25 card at the Kato Ballroom in Mankato! *In a rematch from Brown County Arena last month, “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka will go one-on-one with The Sandman! NEW*Mikey Whipwreck wants revenge against Evan “Strangler’ Lewis! Reports are that Whipwreck will be at 100%. Can he get his first win in GLCW? NEW*The Rock ‘n Roll Express will take on The PitBulls in a contest of two teams looking for a shot at the Great Lakes Tag Team titles! *Another rematch from Brown County Arena will see Al Snow battle Butcher Vachon! *Frank Gotch will take on his rival “The Russian Lion” George Hackenschmidt! Each man now holds a win over the other in GLCW. Who will win this “rubber match”? *Jim Brunzell and Jerry Lynn will defend the Great Lakes Tag Team championship against The Long Riders! The Irwins defeated the champions by countout on the May 29 edition of Great Lakes Championship Wrestling, the day before the fan favorites won the gold in St. Paul. The Long Riders went on to score a big win over the Rock ‘n Roll Express the following week on TV. They have a lot of momentum on their side. Can they win the gold from the popular champions? *Two popular wrestlers will be in the main event, as Dan “The Beast” Severn defends the Great Lakes Heavyweight championship against “The Ragin’ Bull” Manny Fernandez! Fernandez has become one of the most popular wrestlers in the Great Lakes. His toughness and speed can bring many victories. But can it topple the wrestling machine that is the champion? Get your tickets now! 4) Mad Dog Vachon defeated Al Snow (1) in about six minutes. About two minutes into this match, Teddy Long showed up at ringside with his briefcase. Snow saw him and seemed confused by his appearance. Vachon got Adam Kennedy’s attention, while Long reached in and smashed the briefcase over Snow’s head. Vachon then hit the piledriver and just for good measure, pulled Snow up and hit a second piledriver. He covered him and scored the pinfall. Right after the bell, Butcher Vachon stormed down to the ring and the Vachons double teamed Snow. Long joined them in the ring, then held up their arms, signifying that the Vachons had signed contracts to join the Playas’ Club! Mick got the three over to the interview area, while WWWA officials checked on Snow. Long verified that the Algerians had joined him and with them and the Great Gama under his services, he is going to be the top playa in GLCW! Mad Dog said that the Vachons don’t know what a playa is and they don’t care because “Mr. Long” made them a great offer to get big matches and more money and that is all that matters. He said that professional wrestling is a “dog eat dog business” and they are doing what they need to do! Snow’s training partner Great Lakes Heavyweight champion Dan Severn was not present at Treasure Island this week to assist Snow.
Next week on Great Lakes Championship Wrestling, fans will see The Rock ‘n Roll Express, as well as Tully Blanchard in action! Plus, Al Snow will be back in the ring and you can bet he will be irate after this week’s match! And “The Russian Lion” George Hackenschmidt will take on two men in a Handicap Elimination Match! All this from Treasure Island Resort and Casino!

SOUTH COAST CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING 6/19/2021 Card #7 – Naval Construction Battalion Center – Gulfport, MS
Welcome to South Coast Championship Wrestling! Join us now for the fast-paced competition of professional wrestling featuring the top grapplers from the nation’s largest governing body, the World Wide Wrestling Alliance. We’ve got a pretty loaded show here tonight, so let’s get straight to the action…
Johnny Dalton b D’Lo Brown Although Dalton was on the defensive end for much of the bout, he turned it all around outside the ring, dropping D’Lo throat first on the guardrail. Brown couldn’t shake off the damage and was pinned with a butterfly suplex.
J.J. Dillon b Brian Blair Referee Larry Brock realized there was some bad blood between these two and was pretty lenient as there were several times when either grappler could have been disqualified. Dillon kept pointed to Blair and screaming “I’m going to destroy your false idol!” to the crowd. As you would think, Blair controlled most of the action in the ring while Dillon got the best of the brawling on the floor. Dillon scored a mild upset, winning with an ax handle off the turnbuckle.
Pampero Firpo b Billy “Red” Lyons Lyons did a great job of using his speed and agility to wear down the Wild Bull of the Pampas. Just when Billy locked in the Sleeper and looked like he was going to win, the Quebecers came to ringside. While Jacques distracted referee Ray Hall, Pierre attacked Lyons from behind! That allowed Firpo to recover and apply the dreaded El Garfio to get the victory and utter his guttural “Oohhhh Yeaaahhh!” victory cry. This Flying Redheads/Quebecers feud is really heating up.
Ted DiBiase & “Cowboy” Scott Casey b Harley Race & Larry Hennig With the upcoming Race-DiBiase title bout in Pensacola, this was expected to be a pretty intense brawl, and it lived up to the hype. Hennig started off by attacking Casey at the bell and doing some damage and busting him open. Then DiBiase got in and worked Hennig over. SCCW Champ Race was the last to enter the fray, and he did a number on both DiBiase and Casey. DiBiase fought back and had Race pinned, but there was a last second save by Hennig. Race was bleeding after an elbow and made the tag. With Hennig back in the ring and wearing the crimson mask, DiBiase got the pin with the Full Power Slam while Casey held off Race. ****
Bob Roop dq Steve “Doctor Death” Williams This was another outstanding match that saw a ton of brawling as well as a lot of high impact technical moves between two greats with impeccable amateur credentials. Roop was breaking every rule he could to keep up with Williams, who was on fire. Both men wound up bleeding a bit, and Williams again had his temper get the best of him as he disqualified for pummeling Roop in the corner and refusing to break. Referee Ron Sexton was trying to let the big dogs fight, but when Doc shoved him to the mat, he had no choice but to call for the bell. Williams will need to get his anger under control if he expects to win the upcoming WWWA Title tournament. ****
Jack & Jerry Brisco dq The Intelligent Sensational Destroyer & Ray Stevens A lot of jawing between the teams before and during the match. Jerry seemed especially fired up. Very fast paced as everyone involved is quick and has a wide array of skills. As the trash talking escalated, the action got hotter and faster. Just when it appeared Jack might get the win with a lateral guillotine, Destroyer escaped and rolled out of the ring. Jack chased, but Destroyer caught him and rammed his head into the turnbuckle post twice and was disqualified.
Some amazing action on tonight’s show, but expect even more at the Bayfront Auditorium next week! Here’s what our great fans in Pensacola can look forward to:
* Well, after tonight’s main event, Jack Brisco challenged the Destroyer to a match next week and we’ve just been informed that the match has been signed! This will be the first head-to-head encounter between the two masters of the Figure Four Leglock. Whose version of the hold will prove to be superior?
* Bullet Bob Armstrong has requested a rematch after last month’s tough loss to Bob Roop. It was a close match where many fans thought Armstrong had a shoulder up at the finish. We’ll see how the Bullet fares when these two meet again!
* Your big main event will see Harley Race defend the South Coast Championship against Ted DiBiase in a match with no disqualifications and no outside interference allowed! This will be DiBiase’s toughest test to date. Can he get the big victory both he and the fans have been waiting for?
All this and much more next time at the Bayfront Auditorium!

STAR SPANGLED WRESTLING: Card #8 (Baltimore Civic Center, Baltimore, MD)
THE FIRST MATCH: Angelo Poffo b. Henry Irslinger, neckbreaker (**1/2). Poffo is on a very real roll SSW fans, and now sits atop the heap in line for a Junior Heavyweight Title match! But, will Hodge have to face George Tragos in a rematch from Card 7? Stay tuned SSW fans!
THE SECOND MATCH: The Sheepherders b. The Fantastics, battering ram (***1/2). Great match, great intensity!! The end of it however saw a bit of mischief and evil, as the 'Herders tried to carve up Tommy Rogers' face, in an attempt, as the 'Herders call it, to "unpretty the lads"! Yikes...luckily Fulton was Johnny on the spot and managed to save his partner from the evil Sheepherders! This feud is getting really hot SSW fans!
THE THIRD MATCH: Rod Fenton DQ Wild Bull Curry (**1/2). Nothing is solved in this feud...zilch...nada! But the fans are sure loving it, as both men continue to tear into one another with ruthless abandon! Are we going to need a Cage Match to settle matters??
THE FOURTH MATCH: Jackie Fargo DQ Larry Zbyszko (**1/2). Zbyszko suffers his first defeat, albeit a DQ, at the hands of one-half of our US Tag Team Champions! We can rest assured we'll see a rematch of this one fans, and Fargo was hopping mad at Zbyszko's repeated underhanded tactics!
SEMI-MAIN EVENT: Lou Thesz b. Johnny Valentine, Thesz Press (**3/4). Thesz is 2-0 in his debut in Star Spangled Wrestling, and looked quite sharp in this evening's bout with the elder Valentine. Valentine is a stiff test for anyone, a legitimate Main Eventer, but Thesz showed his considerable skill in getting the win. Will Thesz be in line for a US Title shot soon??
MAIN EVENT: Jim Londos (c) vs. Blackjack Mulligan for the United States Heavyweight Championship. Jim Londos (c) (1st defense) b. Blackjack Mulligan, dropkick (***). Solid title bout, and a great Main Event for this evening's card! Mulligan seized the early advantage, and pressed his considerable weight advantage against the champion. But Londos, showing incredible intestinal fortitude, refused to back down and just continued to chip away at Mulligan, wearing him down until landing the big knockout blow with his dropkick. The pop was huge from the Baltimore faithful as Mulligan went down like a tree in the forest after that kick! Londos showed a lot of heart fans, and didn't take the bait from the press afterwards when it was suggested he'd been overlooked for a World Title shot...
NEXT CARD: And speaking of that World Title shot, we will see you all in the DC Armory in Washington, DC for the next great card of SSW action, headlined by the first visit of the WWWA World Heavyweight Champion Strangler Lewis, as he takes on the Nature Boy Buddy Rogers! Should be an absolute classic, so get your tickets early fans...no love lost between these two, that's for sure! We'll also see a star-studded tag match, as Johnny and Greg Valentine take on Bobo Brazil and Dick Hutton! Don'tcha Dare Miss It!

STAR SPANGLED WRESTLING: Card #9 (DC Armory, Washington, DC)
(Promoter's Note: Originally, it was planned for Dick Hutton and Bobo Brazil to take on the Valentines in tag team action this evening. But, the card has changed ever so slightly, with Dick Hutton now scheduled to face feuding opponent Iron Sheik. Jim Londos will take Hutton's place in the tag team match.)
Electricity is in the air this evening fans, as the WWWA World Heavyweight Championship is on the line for the first time in SSW! Get your popcorn and soda now so you don't miss this historic bout!
THE FIRST MATCH: Terrible Turk b. Tiger Conway, Jr, stranglehold (**1/2). This was the Turk's first match back after injury, and his war with the Conways continues (he'd suffered a concussion at the hands of Tiger Conway, Sr on card 5). Fans weren't loving it, but the Turk was happy at getting a bit of revenge.
THE SECOND MATCH: Koko B. Ware b. George Steele, brainbuster (**1/4). Nice win for Koko over the unpredictable Steele!
THE THIRD MATCH: UNITED STATES JUNIOR HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: Danny Hodge (4th defense) b. Angelo Poffo, Oklahoma Side Roll, to retain the title (**1/4). Poffo had been on a tear coming into this match, but Hodge is showing signs he intends to maintain ownership of the belt for quite some time!
THE FOURTH MATCH: Iron Sheik b. Dick Hutton, Camel Clutch (**1/2). Iron Sheik gets revenge for losing on card 7, and roughs Hutton up a bit in this one, much to the chagrin of the DC Armory faithful. Boo! Boo!
SEMI-MAIN EVENT: Jim Londos & Bobo Brazil DQ Johnny & Greg Valentine (***3/4). Very good tag bout, with a lot of heat as you might expect between these two warring factions!
MAIN EVENT: Strangler Lewis (c) vs. Buddy Rogers (with Rock Riddle) for the WWWA World Heavyweight Championship. Strangler Lewis (1st defense) DQ Buddy Rogers when Rogers landed a low blow, ending a match that was really just getting started (**1/4). Well, it was historic in that it was the first time ever the World Championship has been defended in SSW...but we can't help but feel a little disappointed, and yes, embarrassed, at our own Buddy Rogers stooping to this level to try and gain an advantage over the World Champion. Just a heinous action on behalf of the challenger, very low class.
Rogers, for his part, was seen later tearing into Rock Riddle for not distracting the referee better, and/or arguing Rogers' case that he should be allowed to continue in the match after the low blow. Poor Riddle was humiliated at this tongue lashing, and one has to wonder how much more abuse he can endure from Rogers...
NEXT CARD: The action in SSW will simply not slow down, as on the heels of this historic evening, SSW will next head to the Richmond Arena, in Richmond, VA for a great card of action headlined by Jim Londos vs. Lou Thesz (victorious over Johnny Valentine on card #8) for the United States Heavyweight Championship! Also on the card will be the Conways taking on the team of the Terrible Turk and Boris Zhukov. Don'tcha Dare Miss It!

SCCW BREAKING NEWS Beat The Champ Title Update! South Coast Championship Wresting is planning on kicking off the Beat the Champ Title in July! Instead of just calling it the “South Coast Beat the Champ Title”, fans were encouraged to come up with a different and unique name for the championship. The guidelines were to consider some common traits, whether geographic or otherwise, the cities in the SCCW territory share. Congratulations to young Bonnie Welch of Dothan, Alabama for submitting the winning entry. The championship will be known as the “ Alligator Alley Title” with the initial champion to be determined on July 3rd. Here’s how the title works: • Initially, two wrestlers will be chosen at random to wrestle and determine the inaugural champion. • Once a champion is determined, they will face randomly determined challengers and receive $5,000 for each victory they log, up to a maximum of five. • If the champion loses to one of the challengers before reaching five successful defenses, the new champion resets the counter and will face a maximum of five challengers for their title reign. • If a champion successfully defends five times, they “retire” as champion and two more wrestlers will be chosen to begin the process again. • For this title, losses by disqualification and count out will end a champion’s reign
