Especially with legends. Like, I love that Lou These card. And I want him in the foundation of my feds, but I also don't want him kicking the sh! T out of everyone for years on end. Like he did in real life. 😁 Last week, I watched a video from 2016 featuring a then 65 year old Greg Valentine wrestling at an indie show. Wrestlers would wrestle forever if they could.

I know this varies between territory and federation but what do you do in your fed as far as how long do you keep people around for? I see the average wrestling career is 8 years. Hogan seemed relevant ten years. Stone cold/rock era only lasted what five years? Personally I tend to stick to 8-12 years in my fed with very few exceptions. I ask cause I feel the current wwe roster seems to be very stale and was wondering what other promoters do in their fed. Do you not care? Do you tend to stick to ten years or less? Just curious. Many main event guys last longer than 10 years. At the TNT weekend in Waterloo, I picked up a copy of Professional Wrestling Ratings 1973-1986 by Mark James (2021 Melby Award Winner). It details the ratings of AWA, NWA and WWWF/WWF wrestlers from that era utilizing the wrestling magazines from that time period. Interestingly enough, Hogan was first listed as a top ten contender (#6) to Bob Backlund in November of 1979 and stayed in the rankings through February of 1981. He moved to AWA and was #4 contender to Nick Bockwinkel's Title by August of 1981. He was champion or in the title picture from then on, with the exception of a brief hiatus during his move from AWA to WWF. When he moved to WCW, he was obviously still a main event talent, and his nWo run did monster numbers. Even if you discount his last couple of years in WCW and his subsequent return to WWE, Hogan's run as a main event talent lasted over 20 years. Now Hogan is one of the all-time greats and was perhaps the biggest draw that the sport ever saw, so not everyone can expect to have a run that long. But I certainly think that you are safe with careers lasting over 10 years.

I use a spreadsheet as a timeline for my federation. Each year has five slots (three singles, a tag team and a womens wrestler), so everytime I get a new set i place someone on this timeline. I play years just like I do with my champions fed and as I play years I remove them from the timeline chart . End of year I add the custom sets I made off the timeline. Some guys are in the correct space while others I try and fit where they would be fun. I too use spreadsheets for all kinds of stuff. I'm all about detailed stats and career stats due to my baseball nerdness leaking in. Do you keep that on drive? If so would you be willing to send me a copy? I have a million spreadsheet templates I've designed specifically for this game if you'd care to look at any. This is very interesting. Guys I'd love to see what spreadsheets you use for the game. The only spreadsheet is use is to track all my champions. Eventually I'd like to "digitize" some of my COTG results, but not really sure where to start.

I sort of just phase them out if I feel like they are getting stale or don't fit what's going on in the fed at the time. There's definitely not a set time limit that I set.
