Is there a general correlation between the total length of all matches and the length of a fight card? For example, if you have a 2 hour TV show, about how much time would be devoted to matches and how much to entrances, celebrations, interviews, commercials, etc? Same with a 3 hour ppv; how much time for entrances, exits, promos, etc?
Granted this may not come up much in games; I was just curious. I tend to go by a 2/3 rule for my feds, imagining a 3 hour show would have 2 hours of wrestling and 1 hour for everything else, while a 2 hr show would have about 80-90 minutes of wrestling. However, looking at earlier Wrestlemanias (which were 3 hours long), they seemed to have about 90-100 minutes for wrestling, just half the show. Meanwhile, a 60 minutes Superstars show barely hit 30 minutes of actual wrestling.
I was just curious. Thanks.

I never worry about that stuff. I may have a vague idea of show length and matches, but a lot of my shows would be way too long in real life. Especially ppvs but if I want 18 matches on the card that's what I do.

I also do like 3 for a one hour show. 5 for an hour show. 7 for a two hour show. 7-10 for a supercard.

I have to say that, much like tystates, I never really think about it. Given my 'template' for shows... 3 singles, 2 tags, & 1 woman's match per show (not in that order)... and the fact that some of my matches are often comically short... it just doesn't seem important. I don't know. Maybe at some point I'll have to give it some thought.

Yeah I used to run 12 match shows and 21 match ppvs. Now they're down to 4-8 match shows and 8-10 match ppvs.
I know the idea of total match length and lgth of match entrances, celebrations, etc. don't come up in games much (if at all), but while planning my October ppv, I was just curious about if a 3 hour ppv should set aside about 90 minutes total for matches or 2 hours, or something in between.

I have no idea how I arrived at these numbers but I've used them for years. 1 hour show=four matches 2 hour show=six matches 3 hour show=eight matches
I also don't do more than one tag match per hour.

I tend to book a similar number of matches on my cards. usually between 4-6 unless it's some sort of major event.
Sometimes there's some ringside interviews and stuff as well. But I don't really get bent out of shape about the length of the matches or card time wise.
