Quite sad to see Andrew Everett as a jobber after watching him on Impact in recent years.

Was a great show last night. Loved the forbidden door reveal as well as the debut against Marc.
Thought it was good seeing that exchange between the champ and Cole at the end too. The obvious part of Cole coming down to attack him after the match instead switched to a, almost respectful challange and handing over the belt.
Really great stuff

Cody leaving....crazy stuff. Just like Punk, Page and a bunch of others had to “shoot down the rumors” of them being in the rumble, Just like Jay White saying he might show up on RAW! Guess who didn’t show up on RAW…

Curious to see if this is some sort of a work. Brandi leaving is a net gain for AEW, at least as an on-screen talent. She may be very useful behind the scenes, I don't know. Cody would be a huge loss though. If this is actually true, I have to assume that this means Cody wanted to leave. Cody is so good, I can't imagine Tony Khan is unwilling to pay him what he's worth. WWE certainly has the money to pay Cody more than he's worth but he has to know that going back there he'll be treated like Sting was. He'll likely be made an example of, find himself back as Stardust or something. Where else would he go though? No way NWA, MLW, Impact or ROH are coughing up enough to sign him to anything long term. Could he maybe do something along the lines of what Matt Cardona is doing for a little while? Bounce between bigger paydays with NWA, Impact, etc. before going back with a hopefully higher profile? I don't know. The whole thing is very weird. Of that initial group of AEW "founders," he was the only one I really cared about.

Amanda Huber isn't tweeting farewell replies as part of a work. That is, she's not working us and AEW ain't working her.
Nor are Dave Meltzer, Sean Ross Sapp, Ariel Helwani, and TMZ all staking their reputations on their reporting that Cody is gone. They're not *all* getting worked.
If the scuttlebutt is that Cody wanted "Punk money" or "Danielson money" and TK thinks he's not worth it...I don't find it that hard to believe. It's clear there was some sort of split between Cody and the EVPs because Cody has spent most of the past 2 years in his own world, completely isolated from just about everyone else in AEW other than who he was currently feuding with. When AEW started, Cody was a top-3 guy in the company, but he clearly isn't anymore.
Frankly, the sooner both of these two narcissistic dorks can go somewhere where I can safely ignore them (which includes WWE), the better. It's astounding how badly Cody fell apart at that PPV where he wrestled MJF. The debut of the neck tattoo, that horrible entrance, and then the clunker of the match led to a decline in fan perception and overall quality of work so sudden, that I can't even think of any historical comparison in wrestling.
I'm pretty ambivalent on the other EVPs too, but I was ambivalent on them before AEW and still am. They clearly carry more value to the company than Cody does--if they run Omega vs. Danielson II on PPV, they'll sell out just about any arena they care to run and could probably set a company record for PPV buys.

Cody and Brandi leaving is the second piece of shocking ARW roster news I have heard this week. It was reported a couple of days ago that AEW is not going to renew Aramis's contract. I did not even realize Aramis was signed to AEW since they never even used him. WTF?

Nor are Dave Meltzer…staking their reputations on their reporting that Cody is gone. Lol at Meltzer having a reputation worth staking… Maybe AEW has simply cried wolf foo many times, but I don’t believe it. Did Vince really set Tony Khan up to fail by releasing so many guys he can’t sign Cody now? Don’t believe that either. I think it’s a work. Omega is no Cody. He might be able to wrestle the Indy style, but he has none of the personality or charisma that Cody has. And he’s too weird to ever get over mainstream. Cody is a bigger star. Can’t see AEW just letting him go to WWE unless he simply wants to, which is possible. Hes a lot like Drew McIntyre where he’s rebuilt his image, could go back and have a nice run. I did tell Tournament Master a long time ago that I expected Cody back in WWE before anyone else (Jericho, Mox) - I just haves hard time believing Tony Khan. He does a really great job of keeping fans interested in his product Thursday-Tuesday between shows. I’ll give him that.
