The pay per view after Sunday's Super Gauntlet will be WWF In Your House. Tickets for that show are almost gone. In the month of March there will be a second In Your House pay per view before Wrestlemania in April. Shotgun Saturday Night - a new show for the WWF will start after Wrestlemania. There will be an exclusive championship for the show - The WWF European championship. Shotgun Saturday Night will be an hour long and will air at 1am on Saturdays. More details for the show will come out as we get closer to the launch of the show.
In other WWF news - in the month of June we will be seeing the King of the Ring pay per view. It will be a one night eight man single elimination tournament to crown the King of the Ring. All tickets for June to December will be on sale in two weeks time. The WWF has sent out talent scouts to look at talent in the indies and may be doing some signings for another possible championship. They are considering bringing in the WWF Cruiserweight championship - where we see some great high flying and technical wrestlers. It has not been confirmed but it is in talks with the brass in the World Wrestling Federation.
In Impact Wrestling news they have done some more signings. They have signed Fritz Von Goering, George Tragos, Frank Gotch, "The Strangler" Ed Lewis and Iron Sheik. They now have a pretty solid roster and will be kicking off with their first episode of Impact Wrestling with an eight man tournament to crown a World Champion. Their first pay per view will be called Hard to Kill and will take place in Brooklyn, New York. There are talks that they may sign some more talent for their X Division but as for specific names, nothing has been confirmed. It has been said that the owners of Impact Wrestling are planning to go to war with the World Wrestling Federation. PRO WRESTLING TORCH NEWS UPDATE # 08
In WWF News, several superstars will be appearing on Family Feud. The episode will air this Tuesday. The word backstage was that the wrestlers on the show are very pleased with the pay offs for the shows leading up to WWF Super Gauntlet. According to one of my sources they are expecting a big pay day for Super Gauntlet. They are also pleased that the new WWF video game has been selling so well and they got a big pay for that as well. There is some worry amongst the wrestlers backstage about the launch of Impact Wrestling with their deep roster. They are being positive and think that it will do great things for the business. There was a meeting backstage before last night's Smackdown! and they were told that the WWF will be doing everything in its power to battle Impact Wrestling head on.
In other news the WWF will be going on tour with many house shows in cities all across the United States. Some wrestlers complained that they are booked on the tours but most wrestlers are fine with working multiple shows a week plus television tapings. Things are looking up in the wrestling business right now and I am excited to have a second big promotion where other wrestlers can work and make good coin too. It will be good for everyone involved. According to a source in WWF, they are planning to bolster their Women's division and have several wrestlers in mind. I know for a fact that there is one female wrestler who is being watched by both companies and it will be interesting to see where she ends up.
In Impact Wrestling news, everyone seems to be excited about the tapings for Impact TV in February. Impact Wrestling has a great roster and I have a feeling they are going to put some great shows on. They are wanting to go up against the WWF straight out of the gate which I think is awesome. It should be interesting to see how well both companies will fair in the wrestling war. They have sent talent scouts to look at Women on the Indies and some top independent male competitors. I know one wrestler who they are looking at but they have not signed him yet.
There is no independent wrestling news - but there are four independent wrestling shows this weekend so there will be plenty of news after those shows take place. We will be back tomorrow after all the cards have taken place and we will be back with more news as we get closer to WWF Super Gauntlet which takes place Sunday evening!
