I am selling a bunch of my B & W, OOP sets, including Classics and the following years for the GWF 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 99, 2100, 05, O6, 19. The reason I'm selling my stuff is to give money to my brother so that he can repair or replace the scooter lift in his van. He has Parkinsons and can't get around without his electric scooter. The lift in his van isn't working and we need to get it fixed. I have included the following post that I put on my racing group page on June 10 of last year. After all he's done for me, I'm thrilled to be doing something to help him. Just go to ebay and search for "Filsinger Games". I'm going to be adding more stuff, mostly SE cards (most are laminated so keep that in mind).
My brother, Dale Vander Wal, climbed out of a racecar for the last time on May 20, 2020. Dale had hoped to race a few more times this year, but because of Parkinsons, he is no longer able to get in and out of the car in a safe manner, so he decided he was done. While Dale probably wouldn't be considered a legend in most people's eyes, I think he definitely deserves mentioned here and has earned a spot in the History of Iowa Dirt Track Racing. Dale first climbed into a racecar in 1973, so he has been a part of dirt track racing for over 46 years. Some of those years was spent in go-karts, but that's still dirt track racing so I'm counting it. Dale's accomplishments wouldn't earn him a spot in a hall of fame, but he's definitely a hero to some of us. Some of Dale's accomplishments aren't just what he did on the track, but what he's helped others do. Following is some of the highlights of Dale's career:
* Dale has raced several classes, including go-karts, sportsman, late model, IMCA Stock Car, IMCA modified and IMCA Sportmods at tracks including (but, not limited to) Des Moines, Boone, Webster City, Marshalltown, Oskaloosa and Eldora.
* He has 1 IMCA Stock Car Feature win
* He has won many go-kart features and those that seen him would say he was the best there was at driving on dry slick, Sunday afternoon tracks.
* He taught me how to drive, beginning in go-karts where I eventually drove the karts that Dale set-up. He always knew exactly what we needed to do to get the most out of what we had. Later, he shared his knowledge of how to drive a racecar with me.
* We won an IKF Grandnational Championship in 1989. If you seen our pit area compared to the others, you would understand how much of a genius Dale was at getting the most out of what he had to work with.
* He taught his son, Jesse how to race. Jesse won a lot of go-kart races and eventually moved up to Stock Cars. Jesse won several features at tracks including Des Moines, Boone, Marshalltown and Jefferson.
*Dale still owns a Sportmod and has let me drive it a couple times this year and I hope I get to drive it some more, but he also let my son drive it at Oskaloosa on June 24. It was Kyle's first time ever in a racecar.
