John Pesek is making things interesting in SAGA yet again. Recently he defeated William Muldoon to win the World Title in an incredibly quick match. Basically, Pesek countered a headlock into a waistlock throw and scored the pin. I decided that Muldoon landed wrong and got the wind knocked out of him. The win manner was a fluke finish, but it was clean.
However, I figured this gives me a storyline to go through the spring and possibly summer. Muldoon is in a stable with the Flying Redheads, who just won the Tag Team Titles, while Pesek is in a stable with Ed and Evan Lewis. This could create some interesting events if the two teams end up feuding. The problem is both teams are faces (Muldoon's team are more lawful good while Pesek's are more chaotic good).
Is there a way for these two groups, especially Muldoon and Pesek, to feud for a while, but without turning anyone heel? That last part is important. I don't mind tempers flaring but I don't want anyone to turn. I want to create a situation where both sides remain faces and fans might possibly split over their favorites. Any thoughts and/or suggestions?
Thanks.

Both teams have mutual respect for one another, but they want to see who the better man--or team--is in the spirit of competition. They'll try their best to beat each other without trying to hurt each other. The fans will love seeing great scientific wrestling matches and cheer for both men--or teams--with alternating chants of "LET'S GO PESEK!" & "WILLIAM MULDOON!"or "LET'S GO REDHEADS!" & "LET'S GO STRANGLERS!"
Hope this helps.

If you want a good time length on your face vs. face feud... I think that looking back at the history of Hogan vs. Warrior would be a good place to research. Both were loved by the fans and both had big egos, put both teams in a four tag team round robin where they compete against each other and during the match tempers flare an egos get in the way. But, dont do anything that would bring heat on one of the teams. Then have the two teams accidental keep poking the bear with each other until they can come and forgive one another. You should be able to get 5 or more matches out of that if done right.
Now a heal vs. heel feud would be a little harder to pull off because could you get the crowd interested in both teams like you can for a face vs. face?

To me, face vs face is something that should happen more in wrestling. Especially when gold is on the line or in the picture. Wrestling has moved away from the white hat vs black hat, movie cowboy mentality over the years. We still have faces and heels, but fans will cheer heels and boo fans. Some companies try and make it more like a legit sport. Well, when either going for a title directly or to move up the rankings to earn that shot why can't faces battle faces or heels battle heels. The difference is there is little to no cheating or fighting in face vs face. Tempers may flare now and then but are kept in check. So just go for it. Let them battle for pride, for bragging rights, for gold but not to get "payback".
One of my favorite matches of all time was about the skill of the men and paying tribute to a fallen wrestler. After Owen Hart died his brother wrestled Chris Benoit in a great match. There was no hatred or bitterness. Just two guys trying to prove who the best was. It was beautiful.

I think there is no problem with Face vs Face. As long as you don't do it like a typical Feud. Pure Competition without backstabbing. And you need to find fitting explanations for the coming Chart Results. A Team Challenge could be a good Idea. Singles,Tag and 6 or 8 Man Matches like Survivor Series

Thanks for all the replies. Battling for pride and mutual respect is definitely an option. That being said, is there a way to make tempers flare and get them angry at each other without turning anyone?
I know in the book Shooters, Commissioner Muldoon disapproved of Pesek’s action, with Pesek constantly pushing back. But I feel like if I do anything like that, Muldoon will come off as a holier than thou type.
Are there other ways to ignite things?

I point you to the Road Warriors vs. Steiner Brothers at Starrcade '91. It all started out a dream match of respect and turned into tempers flaring into the finisher. Animal didn't get his shoulders up on a possibly double shoulder pin count.
