MWE defeats ECW, 5-2 Show notes: All kinds of mayhem ensued when ECW took on Mexico! ECW is putting its titles on the line throughout the tournament. RVD & Sabu had things in hand but Mexa Blood came back. Bandido downed RVD with the 21 Plex to take the ECW tag team championship! In the Submission Match, Dan Severn was well on his way to a win, locking in a couple holds. Pirata Morgan roared back and his Pirata Lock ended the Beast in this one. Moolah took it to Jazz to get things going. Jazz came back fighting and won with the Bitch Clamp. ECW champion the Sandman defended the title in a Fans Bring the Weapons Match against Mil Muertes. This was another all-out war of a match! The Sandman will face a major challenge the entire tournament he won with this one with the Singapore Cane. Shane Douglas showed he could hang with a technical master like Bob Backlund. Francine had to interfere more than once to keep the match going. Backlund kept up the attack and won with the Atomic Drop. The juniors then amazed as Jerry Lynn and Juventud Guerrera took flight. The Luchador hit the bigger high-risk moves and the Juvi Driver put Lynn away. That meant Mexico won the team match with one match left. The Elimination match was another good one. Justin Credible DDTed Rey Bucanero for the first elimniation. The Mexicans won the battles on the floor with a pair of count outs. Konnan DDTed CW Anderson to win the match.

The ringside companion is on its way! I've started so can't change my format, but I could change some of the hardcore matches for the next 6 rds. after getting the booklet. We'll see. I chose one hardcore match to use in each of the four fed matchups each round. Will probably have to wait for it to get here until next weekend.

JWA defeats EPW, 4-3 Show notes: The final matchup in round one of The Federation Wars and week-long host Japan came through with a 4-3 win over a favored Team Europe! Japan loves their six-man tags and elimination matches are even better! Inoki nearly lost his mind as he locked on the Octopus Hold and would not let go no matter what Ed Lewis did and finally got the submission. From there it was George Hackenschmidt putting Toyonobori away with the bear hug, scoring the fall. Lou Thesz then went to work and beat Rikidozan and Inoki with the airplane spin to the match for EPW. Sherri Martel made short work of the imposing Alpha Female. Jazzy Gabert couldn't lock in the power bomb and Martel landed two splashes off the top rope to win the match. Jushin Thunder Liger retained the JWA Jr. title with a dominating win over Zack Sabre Jr, putting him away with the Fisherman Buster. The Submission Match was a true classic! Both men withstood tremendous amounts of pain to keep the match going. Buddy Rogers locked on the Figure Four for the win. Bull Curry and Ivan Koloff battered each other non-stop in one of the longest fights of the night. This brutal contest could have gone either way but it was Bull Curry getting the victory in the Fans Bring the Weapons match. Curry's win meant Japan locked up the win over Europe, but there were still points to be gained. Both the European teag team titles and the JWA All-Asia tag team championship were on the line! Steve Williams and Terry Gordy overpowered The Enforcers (Greg Valentine & Larry Zbyszko). A huge double running football tackle leveled Zbyszko and Doc and Gordy now hold two tag team championships! The main event was for the European heavyweight title! Big Van Vader embarrassed the Giant Baba in his home country. Vader blasted Baba and power bombed him for the win.
