All Stars of American Wrestling Week 23 From the Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St Paul Minnesota
Match 1: Brickhouse Brown Vs. Redd Dogg
New All-Star Brickhouse Brown continues to look good, this time getting a hard fought and exciting win against Redd Dogg. Dogg started out strong, but eventually Brown with his prolific punching prowess turned things around and, after nearly forcing Dogg to submit to a scorpion deathlock, won the match by pinfall after a fist drop.
After the match, Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, back in the ASAW studios, introduced footage from a press conference earlier this week. At the conference, ASAW Matchmaker Theadore Rufus Long, flanked by his Japanese counter part Shohei Baba of Nipon National Wrestling, Konan of Mexico's Procion Inventada, and Jacques Rougeau Sr. from Canada's CSC (Catch Societe Canada), made a major announcement to the gathered wrestling press. In week 36 All-Stars of American Wrestling's premier supercard SummerFest has been chosen as the host event for the long awaited rematch between reigning International Wrestling Championship Council World Champion Nick Bockwinkel and former champion "Dr. Death" Steve Williams. Long promised that, in support of this major championship match, SummerFest would be the biggest spectacle in all of wrestling!
Match 2: Tugboat & Chaz Taylor Vs.Big Bully Busick & Hugh Morrus
To review, going into this match, Tugboat had eliminated both Bully and Morrus in the tag team battle royal at Americana, then Tugboat beat Bully one-on-one, then Chaz beat Bully one-on-one, and now, the Taylors have bested Bully and Morrus in tag team action. Though Morrus briefly had Chaz on the ropes, the father and son duo turned the tables not long after Bully tagged in. They made short work of the anchornistic grappler, and father Tugboat nailed Bully with the Anchor drop elbow! Chaz and Tugboat celebrated, with Chaz pantomiming the tag team championship around their waists.
After the match, Monsoon and Heenan were discussing the huge SummerFest announcement. Heenan said he was tempted to leave the broadcast booth and be in World Champion Bockwinkel's corner at the show. Monsoon seemed to think that was a great idea, but doubted the champion would need The Brain.
Match 3: Stan Lane (With Steve Keirn) Vs. Jacques (with Pierre)
After last week's wild result between the Amazing French Canadians and the Fabulous Ones, this match was made. This one was fast paced and hard hitting, and mostly Lane. Lane nailed Jacques with a series of dropkicks that stunned the second generation star, then put him away with the savate kick!
Before the next match, Gordon Solie spoke to Scotty Riggs and Marcus Bagwell, The American Males. Bagwell cut right to the chase, stating that he and Scotty should be next in line for a shot at tag team champions "Playboy" Buddy Rose and "Pretty Boy" Doug Somers. That brought out "Wild" Bill Irwin and Scott "Hogg" Irwin. Hogg said that if any team was going to get a title shot, it should be The Long Riders. Scotty Riggs grabbed the mic and said "enough talk, let's settle this in the ring!"
Match 4: The American Males Vs. The Long Riders
This one was a match of the night contender, with both Scotts being on the receiving end of a lot of punishment in a back-and-forth match full of near falls. In the end, it wasn't Scott Irwin, but Bill who went down hard after a pair of double back elbows
After the match, while Bagwell and Riggs celebrated, Tag Team champions Rose and Somers sprinted from the back! They ran Riggs into the ring post, and then proceeded to double team Bagwell. The Irwins recovered and joined in the beat down on young Marcus Alexander Bagwell. A cheer went up from the crowd as Tugboat and Chaz ran out to make the save, as Riggs also recovered and together they drove off the rulebreakers, but Bagwell looked the worse for wear afterwards.
After the break, Lance Russell had an interview with former American champion Bob Backlund. Backlund spoke about how excited he was for the announced World championship match at SummerFest. Backlund said that he hoped to be on the supercard himself and to get a shot at the winner of the title match in the future. That's when they were interrupted by Jim Cornette and his Mastodon, Vader! Vader, crazy eyed and intense as ever, challenged Backlund to a match, with Cornette saying that "Howdie Doodie" wouldn't make it SummerFest.
Match 5: Al Snow (with Marty Jannetty) Vs. Nikolai Volkoff (With Boris Zhukov)
The New Rockers have been struggling against the Bolsheviks, but they keep trying. Tonight, they got their first victory, albeit by disqualification. Al Snow gave the much bigger Volkoff a heck of a fight. It was only when the action spilled out of the ring and Volkoff hit Snow with the Russian flag that the referee disqualified the big man.
Match 6: "Cowboy" Dick Hutton Vs. Bob Roop (with Mr. Fuji)
This was a one-on-one match up between two former Olympic wrestlers, with Hutton having represented America at the games in London, and Rupp at the games in Mexico City. This though, was no colligate contest, but rather a hard hitting and brutal fight between two tough as nails legit shooters. Though the action was top notch, the ending was disappointing, as the fight spilled out of the ring and both men were disqualified for refusing to follow the referee's instructions.
Main Event Television Championship Match Davey Boy Smith (With Jim Cornette) Vs. Champion Dutch Savage
Dutch Savage made history by being the first man to successfully retain the Television championship! This was a great match, just like their first encounter at Americana. Like their previous encounter, Savage seemed to be in trouble early, and might have been pulling a bit of a rope-a-dope, before connecting with not one, but two running piledrivers to win the match and retain his title!

Card for ASAW Week 24 The All Stars of American Wrestling roll into the Quad Cities for their debut at the Taxslayer Center in Molina Illinois.
Hugh Morrus will be in action.
Steve Keirn (with Stan Lane) Vs. Pierre (with Jacques)
Things are heating up between the Amazing French Canadians and the Fabulous Ones! Can Keirn replicate his partners success, or will Pierre get even for the duo from Quebec?
“Mr. Electricity” Steven Regal Vs. Tiger Conway Jr. (with Tiger Conway Sr.)
Losing to George South last month seems to have broken something in Tiger Conway Jr. The once happy, smiling fan favorite has shown now, under the direction of his father, a vicious streak no one suspected he possessed. Mr. Electricity is looking to teach the young man a painful lesson.
The New Rockers & Jim Brunzell Vs. The Bolsheviks & Austin Idol
It’s speed vs power in a six man tag team encounter. The New Rockers are looking to finally get the best of the Bolsheviks, while Brunzell and Idol continue their clash coming out of Americana.
“Cowboy” Dick Hutton Vs. The Iron Sheik (With Bob Roop)
Another clash of great amateur, as three time NCAA champion and freestyle Olympic wrestler Hutton battles former Olympic assistant coach The Iron Sheik. Bob Roop will be at ring side in support of his fellow member of the Olympians.
Non-title match Tugboat & Chaz Taylor Vs. Tag Team Champions “Playboy” Buddy Rose & “Pretty Boy” Doug Somers
After last week’s wild encounter, Teddy Long booked a match pitting The Taylors Vs. the tag team champions. It’s a non-title match, but the Taylors have made it clear the tag titles are in their sights, so a win hear would no doubt earn them a shot down the road.
Main Event Bob Backlund Vs, Big Van Vader (With Jim Cornette)
There’s no challenge former American Champion Bob Backlund will back down from, and that includes the Mastodon of Camp Cornette, Vader!
All this, plus the contract signing for the American Championship match in Chicago! And a major announcement from Teddy Long for SummerFest!

All Stars of American Wrestling Week 24 From the TaxSlayer Center in Molina Illinois
The show opened with ASAW Matchmaker Theodore Long speaking directly to camera in front of a large banner for the upcoming supershow: SummerFest. Long, with his usual excited delivery, announced that in the coming weeks a tournament would begin on ASAW’s weekly television program, with the finals to take place at SummerFest. The tournament would be the first ASAW event to feature women wrestlers, and would be for the first ever Women’s All-Star Cup! Long promised more details in the coming weeks.
Match 1: Hugh Morrus Vs. Frogman LaBlanc
The Ragin’ Cajun gave Hugh Morrus a scare early on, when he caught the Laughing Man with a sunset flip for a near fall. Morrus then took over and got serious, soon connecting with his No Laughing Matter moonsault for the victory.
Back in the ASAW studios, an excited Bobby "The Brain" Heenan grilled Gorilla Monsoon about the Women's All-Star Cup. Gorilla said that on next week's show, all eight participants would be announced. Heenan stated that he can't wait to meet "these dames".
Match 2: “Mr. Electricity” Steve Regal Vs. Tiger Conway Jr. (With Tiger Conway Sr.)
After losing in a shocking upset to perineal underdog George South, young Tiger Conway Jr. has become a different person, brutally assaulting and intentionally injuring South after their rematch. One person who’s objected to Conway’s new behavior has been Mr. Electricity. Regal and Conway proved to be very evenly matched, with both men coming close to victory. Regal took his time, dissecting the young Conway with solid American style light-heavyweight offense. Twice, Regal went for his Ft. Lauderdale Leglock, only to be distracted by Tiger Conway Sr. at ringside. Those distractions proved to be the difference maker, as Junior turned the tide on Regal while brawling at ringside, then nailed the flying headbutt for the victory!
Match 3: Steve Keirn (With Stan Lane) Vs. Pierre (with Jacques)
Things continue to heat up between the Fabulous Ones and the Amazing French Canadians. After Lane picked up a win against Jacques last week, Keirn was looking to keep the momentum on the Fabs’ side. He ran into a brick wall of muscle and scorn though, in the form of Pierre. Both men struggled to keep the other down and when the action spilled out of the ring and a wild brawl involving both partners erupted, the referee had no choice but to disqualify both grapplers.
Before the next match, Gordon Solie spoke to former Television champion Tommy Rich. Rich stated that he had taken a few weeks off to recover from injuries he suffered at the hands of Big Van Vader, but was looking forward to returning to action soon. Rich warned his friend Bob Backlund, ahead of tonight’s main event, that Vader was a monster and not a challenge to be taken lightly.
Match 4: The New Rockers and Jim Brunzell Vs. The Bolsheviks and Austin Idol
Brunzell and Idol have been at each other’s throats since Americana, while the New Rockers have been trying and mostly failing to prove they belong in the ASAW tag division against the red menaces. In this six man match, The New Rockers finally got the upper hand on the Bolsheviks. Boris Zhukov got his bell rung after a series of headbutts by Al Snow, causing him to tag out to Idol. After that, Boris and Nikolai seemed to want no further part of this one, as they refused to tag in and left Idol basically on his own against all three opponents. Fittingly, it was Snow who got the pinfall victory after hitting Idol with a picture perfect moonsault!
After the match, back in the ASAW studios, American champion Kurt Angle, seconded by Mr. Fuji, was shown signing the contract for his title match next week in Chicago against Jack Brisco. After signing the document, Angle cut a promo on Brisco, disparaging the Oklahoma native’s accomplishments as a “mere” NCAA Champion. Angle said that if Brisco was a real American champion, he’s have represented his country at the Olympics, he’d have won a gold medal, and he’d have the American championship belt, but Brisco had done none of those things, and will continue to have none of those things come next week in Chicago.
Match 5: “Cowboy” Dick Hutton Vs. The Iron Sheik (With Bob Roop)
Dick Hutton’s battles against The Olympians continue, as this time he faced off against former Olympic assistant coach The Iron Sheik. With Fuji back in Raleigh with Angle, it fell to Roop to act as Sheik’s corner man, and after last week’s double disqualification, it was clear he was looking forward to seeing Hutton beaten here. Sheik wasn’t exactly exemplifying the Olympic ideal of fair play as he repeatedly battered Hutton with his loaded boot, but every time the referee went to check it, Roop provided a distraction. Though Hutton managed to get Sheik in his abdominal stretch several times early in the contest, he was never able to truly lock it in, as Sheik managed to escape each time. It looked like The Iron Sheik was heading to a convincing, if not exactly honest victory, when Hutton caught him with a surprise rollup after dodging a charge in the corner to get a three count and the win!
After the bell, Roop hit the ring immediately and joined The Iron Sheik in beating down Hutton. The Quad Cities crowd’s chorus of boos quickly turned to cheers though as The Patriot, making his first appearance since losing in the American championship match against The Olympians’ leader Kurt Angle, rushed down to the ring and helped Hutton turn the tide against the duo!
Match 6: Non-Title Match Tugboat & Chaz Taylor Vs. Tag Team Champions “Playboy” Buddy Rose & “Pretty Boy” Doug Somers
Tugboat Taylor pinned Doug Somers after hitting him with shoulder breaker. The father and son duo have been on a roll of late, and that momentum carried them to a surprisingly easy win against the tag team champions in this non-title match up. With the victory, The Taylors have to be considered the next in line for a tag team title shot! After the match, back in the ASAW studios, we saw Jack Brisco sign his name to the contract for next week’s American championship match. Unlike Angle, Brisco signed the contract with out comment. When asked by segment host Lance Russell if he had any rebuttal to Angle’s earlier comments, Brisco simply stated that he’d do his talking in the ring.
Main Event Bob Backlund Vs. Big Van Vader (With Jim Cornette)
Bob Backlund took on the Mastodon of Camp Cornette in the Quad Cities and this one was an instant classic. When talking about a clash between a big man and smaller opponent, it is cliché to compare it to the biblical clash between David and Goliath. Tonight, Goliath would not ne denied. The asked man from the Rockies manhandled the former American champion, but Backlund kept getting back up. So brutal and hard hitting was the encounter that fans could be seen at ring side pleading with Backlund to just stay down. In the end, Vader connected with his release powerbomb and Backlund was finally not able to kick out. (10 fatigue on Backlund!)

Magnificent main event. Cool to see Hutton grab a win over Sheik. Thank you for reading! Vader has been on an absolute rampage lately, making quick work of Rich and dominating Backlund. He got off to a sluggish start but is really rolling now. I'm really enjoying Hutton vs the Olympians, and now that Patriot has gotten involved we should be seeing things go to the next level.

Card for ASAW Week 25 The All-Stars of American Wrestling debut in Chicago at the Welsh-Ryan Arena with one of the biggest night of matches all year!
“Mr Electricity” Steve Regal will be back in action!
Thunderbolt Patterson Vs Tiger Conway Sr.
The elder Conway will make his in ring debut against the highly rated Thunderbolt. Patterson is no fan of the recent attitude change in attitude Conway Jr has been displaying, and he lays the blame squarely at the feet of Tiger Sr.
Brickhouse Brown Vs. Davey Boy Smith (with Jim Cornette)
Brown hopes to continue to impress the fans, while Smith and Cornette look to get back in the win column after failing to recapture the Television title.
Tugboat Taylor Vs. “Pretty Boy” Doug Somers
Tag team champion Somers claims him getting pinned by Tugboat last week was a fluke. Teddy Long booked this match to give him the chance to put up or shut up
The American Males & Tommy Rich Vs. The Long Riders & Redd Dogg
Tommy Rich returns from injury and joins forces with The American Males to face as tough a trio as you are likely to find anywhere.
Al Snow Vs. Austin Idol
Austin Idol wants another shot at the man who pinned him in last week’s six man. The unpredictable Snow is more than happy to oblige.
The Patriot Vs. Bob Roop (With the Iron Sheik)
The Patriot is back in action against one of Kurt Angel’s Olympian running buddies, the always dangerous Bob Roop. Roop and Sheik are looking to teach the masked man a lesson about staying out of Olympian business.
Main Event American Championship Match Jack Brisco Vs. Champion Kurt Angle (With Mr. Fuji)
Jack Brisco earned this title shot by winning the four corners match at Americana. Kurt Angle, who is looking to make his second successful title defense, has been disparaging the one time NCAA champion for his lack of Olympic level success. It all leads up to what should be an all time classic in Chicago.
Plus, we will learn the eight women who will compete for the inaugural Women’s All-Star Cup and Dutch Savage will announce who his next challenger will be for the Television championship!

All Stars of American Wrestling Week 25 From the Welsh-Ryan Arena in Evanston Illinois
This week’s show opened with a pair of video packages. The first was a message from Dr. Death Steve Williams. Williams stated he was excited to be coming to SummerFest and to be competing in front of the ASAW faithful fan base. Williams stated that his title match against International Wrestling Championship Council World Champion Nick Bockwinkel would be the biggest match in ASAW history and he would recapture his IWCC title. The second video package featured Teddy Long, ASAW match maker, announcing the names of the eight participants in the Women’s All-Star Cup tournament! Those women are: Jazz, Rockin’ Robin, Candi Divine, Leilani Kai, Tessa Blanchard, Nora Greenwald, Trish Stratus, and Kylie Rae. The official tournament draw will happen on next week’s show.
Match 1: “Mr. Electricity” Steve Regal Vs. Jake Milliman
Mr. Electricity made short work of The Milkman. After a handshake before the bell, it was hammerlock, side Russian legsweep, and then Ft. Lauderdale Leglock for an easy victory for Regal.
After the match, back in the ASAW studios, Gorilla Monsoon tried to engage with co-host Bobby Heenan, but The Brain was on the phone with someone. The Brain excitedly was heard asking “Are you sure? … Here? In studio? … Next week? … Okay! That’s amazing! Fantastic! No… I’ll announce it now!” Heenan then hung up the phone. Monsoon looked at Heenan expectantly, but Heenan just smiled like the cat who had eaten the canary.
Match 2: Thunderbolt Patterson Vs. Tiger Conway Sr. (With Tiger Conway Jr.)
Tiger Conway Sr. made his in ring debut against Tunderbolt Patterson, who has made no secret of the fact that he doesn’t care for the vicious streak and rulebreaking attitude Conway has instilled in his son. These two men proved to be very evenly matched, as neither was able to get so much as a near fall on the other. The ending though was disappointing when the action spilled out of the ring and a wild brawl ensued. Though both men were involved in the brawl, the referee nonsensically disqualified only Thunderbolt Patterson. While Patterson appalled the referee’s decision, Conway and son high tailed in back to the locker room.
Match 3: Brickhouse Brown Vs. Davey Boy Smith (with Jim Cornette)
Brown is still relatively new to ASAW, with this being only his third match, but he gave the former Television champion all he could handle. In a 13 minute, main event quality match up, Brown got a near fall with his flying body press that had the Chicago crowd thinking it was over. Moments later though, Smith’s unique blend of power and speed was too much for Brown and he connected with a devastating piledriver for the win!
Back in the ASAW Studios, Monsoon started to speak about the massive main event upcoming on tonight’s card when he was cut off by an excited Heenan who announced that next week IWCC World Champion Nick Bockwinkel would be his special guest in the ASAW studios!
Match 4: Tugboat Taylor (With Chaz Taylor) Vs. Tag Team Champion “Pretty Boy” Doug Somers (with “Playboy” Buddy Rose)
Objectively speaking, no one has been on a bigger or more impressive roll since Americana than the Taylors. Last week, they bested the tag team champions in a non-title match. This week, Tugboat Taylor dominated one half of the championship duo, “Pretty Boy” Doug Somers, and picked up an easy victory in just under 6 minutes with the Anchor Drop! With this win, and the victory last week, it’s clear who should be the next challengers for the titles.
After the match, Television champion Dutch Savage joined Lance Russell in the ASAW studios. Savage was clearly pleased with his impressive title defense against former champion Davey Boy Smith. Savage said he was ready to be a fighting champion and had posted an open contract with match maker Teddy Long. Long then joined Savage and Russell to inform Savage that he had found him a worthy challenger. The next challenger for the Television championship will be Dan “The Beast” Severn!
Match 5: The American Males & Tommy Rich Vs. The Long Riders & Redd Dogg
Former Television champion “Wildfire” Tommy Rich made his return from injury in this six man match and made it clear that he is back in top form! He made short and decisive work of the Long Riders and Redd Dogg, never even needing to tag in The American Males, hitting Redd Dogg first with consecutive Thesz Presses and then locking in the Wildfire sleeper for the victory!
Match 6:Al Snow (with Marty Jannetty) Vs. Austin Idol
The New Rockers might not have been taken seriously when they first arrived at the Americana supercard, but through toughness and hard work, they are beginning to earn the respect of the fans and the locker room. Last week, Al Snow pinned Austin Idol in six man action. This week, the Universal Hearthrob and the Rocker from Lima Ohio went one-on-one for nearly thirty minutes! Both men were thoroughly spent (four fatigue a piece) when Al Snow countered a sunset flip with a roll through into a pinning combination.
After the match, Heenan was still crowing about the appearance next week by Bockwinkel. Monsoon cut The Brain off by announcing that the IWCC World Champion wouldn’t be the only title holder on next week’s show. Match maker Teddy Long hand just informed Monsoon that next week’s main event will see the tag team championships on the line when the Taylors challenge “Playboy” Buddy Rose and “Pretty Boy” Doug Somers!
Match 7: The Patriot Vs. Bob Roop (with The Iron Sheik and Mr. Fuji)
The Patriot, in action for the first time since losing his challenge for the American championship, went one-on-one with American Champion Kurt Angle’s ally, Bob Roop. The former Olympic freestyle wrestler Roop tried to end it early, going for a pin after a guillotine leg drop, but Patriot persevered. Roop then went to the top rope, and tried to connect with a cross body block, only for the Patriot to catch him and connect with a massive powerslam into a pin for the win! Roop and his fellow Olympian The Iron Sheik looked intent on laying in a post-match beating on the masked man, but the Patriot was able to slip out and escape with the victory.
Main Event American Championship Match Jack Brisco (With “Cowboy” Dick Hutton & The Patriot) Vs. Champion Kurt Angle (With The Olympians and Mr. Fuji)
Roop and Iron Sheik were back out with Fuji for the main event, seconding Kurt Angle. Brisco countered by coming out with Dick Hutton and The Patriot, setting explosive elements at ringside. The build up to this one has seen Champion Angle belittle Brisco’s wrestling ability As a “mere” NCAA Division I champion, Angle believed Brisco to be beneath him as an Olympic gold medalist. Here in Chicago, it was time to put up or shut up. Brisco was cool and composed, seemingly unphased by Angle’s trash talk. Brisco simply suplexed Angle out of his shoes with a repeated assortment of suplexes. A big northern lights suplex outside the ring nearly led to the champion getting counted out, as Angle barely made it back before the referee’s count. Brisco locked in his feared figure-four, but Angle was able to make it to the ropes. Brisco then locked in a lateral guillotine! Roop and Sheik at ringside tried to interfere, but were cut off by Patriot and Hutton, as Angle passed out in the hold and Jack Brisco secured an impressive victory and the title! #AndNew
