I stopped trying to add much of anything about the matches and just played. When I want to add to my post I do, otherwise here's my results and set up the next card.

I think sometimes folks feel the pressure to post and write up their results to impress folks. This is a situation I often struggle with, personally. I do my best to just play and post for myself, but I have to admit that once I got a taste of praise and appreciation for my writing, it was hard to not keep coming back for another fix, you know? Especially when it came at a time when I wasn't really getting many other outlets for creativity or gameplay. When I first started posting here, it had been years since I'd gotten to play any kind of RPGs with any friends... and it would be many more until I discovered the options to do so online. Having some of my fellow promoters like and comment on my stuff would very much give me a little boost of confidence during some admittedly rough times. I'm currently struggling with the dilemma of a restart, myself, as it's been ages since I've posted any results and part of my is wondering "does anybody actually care if I keep posting?" Another big issue that's kept me from posting pretty much for the last year or so has been all the great new cards we've been getting of late have been making me spoiled for choice! So many new faces that I want to use, but I just don't think I have the brainpower to do a territory-based system like so many of the greats here do it. I don't know, though. At the end of the day, the urge to start rolling again is getting too strong to ignore. Conveniently enough, it looks like some of the commitments that have kept me away seem to be drying up. Going back to the idea of posting for myself, I'm going to add that I have long struggled with Imposter Syndrome when it's come to my writing, my art, or my roleplaying so I do get a big chunk of validation from the likes and comments. When a post is met with proverbial silence it makes me wonder what happened or what I may have done that others didn't like. And that can lead to a little anxiety. I'm getting better about that, I think. I'm still often tempted to fish for input, comments, and critiques, though. I've lost count of how many times I've rebooted a fed, though. I think that even with an absence of a year (and then some) I'm just going to try to pick up where I left off last, as I think I had some good stuff brewing.

Every reader is different, but for me I enjoy reading results first, storylines second, especially in COTG where the stories are given to the characters by Tom. When a new set drops, my peak interest is about seeing how all the new cards do against everybody. How are the Memphis guys doing for everybody? How do the new indy cards stack up? How are all the new FTR cards doing? That’s what I’m most interested in as a reader anyways. This is why Rahl ratings are so popular. I want to see how all the new cards do in everybody’s feds. So nothing wrong w a results based fed.

As I was sorting some of my Legends stuff today, I thought about the overwhelming volume of cards we have, both in color and black & white. If you started with the first black & white set, you received new cards in a linear expansion, and could implement them into your fed that way. Perhaps folks who are struggling with the massive roster could do something like that. Maybe start with the first color set and Expansion set I (so you have more tag teams), and add in some Pro Prime guys for some mid card talent. Then, set a time limit for yourself to use them, and cycle out 6-12 guys and replace with a new expansion set roster down the road. It's a measured way to bring people in and out, and doesn't make you have to pick from all of the cards at once.

Some great advice here. I think finding your posting style is a big part of it too. When you can read your results and are satisfied with them, you're going in the right direction.

My biggest hang up is using too many "big names" and then not really knowing how to use them effectively.

My biggest hang up is using too many "big names" and then not really knowing how to use them effectively. That's definitely a problem if you being with the Legends Color Starter set. All main eventers; no midcarders or lower card guys. Promoter Prime or the CAC sets is a great way to add some mid to lower card guys to your roster. However, if you want to run a "super indy" style fed with all of your favorite main event matchups, that's fine too. I think that would be hard to book long term, myself, but if that's what you like, that's cool!

I took a break of several years between when the last black and white legends sets came out and then getting into the color cards at the end of 2020. You can look at my posts and literally track when I picked up new stuff as the roster changes. That way I could bring in the ones I wanted, dump the ones I didn't, and make plans for what I was going to do next. Now I'm caught up and have the territory system thing where I imagine these other groups going on simultaneous to my main keeps it fresh.

When I played COTG, I played two promotions, but I had another 6-8 "paper promotions" that had champions, rosters, and ongoing storylines. I could bring new people into one of the other promotions with an existing history. It would be pretty easy to do the same thing in Legends.

I think sometimes folks feel the pressure to post and write up their results to impress folks. And even worse, somehow feel personally slighted when someone doesn’t “like” their fed. That’s a dangerous trap to fall into. Same when people do “like” your fed or take the time to reply. That’s not a reason to post your fed. Post your fed for yourself. If other people read it, like it and leave comments, great. But that’s not the spirit of the game. That’s the spirit of Club Galactica/The GWF Promoter - sharing results. But the spirit of the game is to book your own fed. Not a fed for others. I’ve said it before. I read a lot of feds I don’t leave “likes” for or comment on. As I’m sure others do w my own feds. But I post online first and foremost to have an online record of my fed. I’m absolutely the biggest fan of my own fed. I always feel like this is the biggest trap people fall into. They make a fed and get instantly disheartened if they feel no one is reading it. And the reality is it shouldn't matter. Do what is fun for you, post when you want to post, dont when you dont. Wanna restart? Do it. Wanna restructure on the fly? Thats fine too. Honestly the feds I follow the most are the ones that tend to feel like the promoter is having fun with it themselves. I also personally love getting ideas from other feds, whether it be booking or presentation. The key (in my opinion) is to do whatever works best to let you keep having fun with the game.
