Card 07 – Niagara Falls Memorial Arena, Niagara Falls, ON Injuries: Stan Lane 5 cards; Bobby Eaton 5 cards
Konnan v. John Pesek Referee: Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Konnan tries to set a quick pace from the bell but Pesek has other plans and gets the action to the mat leading to a TIGER MAN TOEHOLD. Konnan makes the ropes to keep the match going. Konnan has moments, including planting Pesek with an impressive DDT but this match belonged to the mat skills of Pesek who gets the submission with a second TIGER MAN TOEHOLD. Winner: John Pesek * ½
J.J. Dillon v. Koko B. Ware Referee: Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Ware danced his way to the ring much to the delight of the youngsters at ringside but thing quickly turned violent when Dillon rammed The Birdman into the ring post busting him open. Things only became worse for Ware as Dillon used a foreign object several times drawing great heat. Ware was able to kick out after an ELBOW DROP but the blood loss was too much and the Birdman passed out in a figure four leglock. Winner: J.J. Dillon. **
Sam Houston v. The Spoiler Referee: Joey Marella; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Early on it did not look like Houston would last long as Spoiler dominated and then applied a BIONIC CLAW but Houston made the ropes. Spoiler impressed with a rope-walk smash as part of his follow up offense but it was the reversal/roll throw after a Spoiler deathjump that got the fans on their feet after a two count. Houston was back into the match and landed a BULLDOG for another near fall. Spoiler weathered the storm and gradually began to take back the match with elbow, knees and slams. Houston had nothing left when Spoiler applied his finishing BIONIC CLAW for the second time for the victory. Winner: The Spoiler ** ½
Jerry Brisco v. Angelo Poffo Referee: Dick Woehrle; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Poffo countered a fireman’s carry and caught Brisco with a knee lift and that was it. Winner: Angelo Poffo DUD.
Bob Backlund v. “Playboy” Buddy Rose Referee: James Beard; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside This was another quick one as Backlund caught Rose in a ROLLING BACKBRIDGE in the opening moments for a two count and then followed with perfect ATOMIC DROP to the three count. Winner: Bob Backlund DUD
Texas Death Match - Abdullah The Butcher v. The Destroyer Referee: Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Before Gary Michael Cappetta and finish the introductions, Butcher is on the attack and posts Destroyer. Destroyer’s white mask began to turn red but he was able to quickly battle back knowing he was in the fight for his life. A Bombs Away was on target and later Destroyer brings in a table to the ring putting his opponent on top of it. Destroyer attempts a Bombs Away onto the table but Butcher rolls off and Destroyer cashes and burns. Butcher cannot maintain his advantage as a low blow from Destroyer turns the momentum again. Destroyer traps Butcher in a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK but Butcher makes the ropes. Destroyer drags Butcher to the middle of the ring and applies the hold again this time getting the submission. Winner: The Destroyer. ***
Canadian Heavyweight Champion Jimmy Snuka & Rock ‘n’ Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) v. Don Muraco & Valiant Brothers (“Handsome” Jimmy Valiant & “Luscious” Johnny Valiant) w/Captain Lou Albano Referee: Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Albano and his crew are all over Dollar before the bell and the official appears intimidated. We get Snuka against Muraco at the outset and they quickly go the floor. Albano cracks Snuka across the back with a chair and that is enough for the disqualification. It is mayhem as the bell sounds over and over again. Muraco and the Valiants go on the attack tossing out Gibson and Morton and focusing in on Snuka. The Valiants crush Snuka with a SUPER ELBOW before they continue to brawl with the Express on the floor. Muraco gives Snuka a HAWIIAN HAMMER laying in out in the middle of the ring for Albano to land insult to injury with a BIG SPLASH of his own while Dr. Mike Lano documents the entire attack from the floor. Winners: Jimmy Snuka & Rock ‘n’ Roll Express by disqualification. DUD
News and Views: • A wild and violent finish to the night as Canadian Heavyweight Champion Jimmy Snuka needs to be assisted from ringside after an attack by Captain Lou Albano’s squad of Don Muraco & Valiants Brothers. Snuka is booked to defend his title on the next event at London’s Gardens (Card 08) and fans are now wondering what condition will the champion be in • Commissioner Teddy Long was quick to react to the attack suspending Don Muraco, the Valiant Brothers and Captain Lou Albano for two cards each. As a result of the suspension, Muraco will no longer be challenging for the Canadian Heavyweight Title at the London Gardens event. • In another decision that put the locker room on notice, Commissioner Teddy Long has decided the event in London will kick off with an over the top rope battle royal. The winner will be awarded that night’s title opportunity against Jimmy Snuka! • Given the unpredictable nature of a battle royal, the balance of the card in London will be not be announced in advance but the Commissioner has confirmed that all the top contenders will be on hand at the London Gardens to seek their opportunity at the Title!
The feud between Snuka and Muraco explodes and throws my booking plans into chaos. So much fun to book on the fly and I cannot wait to see who will emerge from the Battle Royal and get the opportunity against an injured Superfly (5 cards!)

What an absolutely ridiculous finish to an action packed card! Love that we're getting a Battle Royal to decide the next challenger for Superfly's title... Though I hope the champ's injury does not cause him to drop the belt without a putting up a formidable fight... You always deliver the goods with your Canadian based promotions, my friend... And this one is a ton of fun!

Abdullah The Butcher by The Destroyer (2) (after Bombs away and a bloody battle on the floor) 19. George “The Animal” Steele by The Destroyer (3) (backdrop counter to charge into the corner) Winner: The Destroyer
Destroyer and Butcher really go at it before the finish of the match. George Steele is a force but comes up just short in the finish. Other highlights include Butcher and Piper battling early and J.J. Dillon eliminating both Barry Windham & Sam Houston. Plus a long battle between Danny Hodge and Jerry Brisco. *** Texas Death Match - “Wild” Bull Curry v. George “The Animal” Steele Referee: Joey Marella; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside This was a wild and brutal brawl that took place more on the floor than in the ring and when the action was in the ring it features chairs and pipes. Both men were busted open early and the blood flowed until the end. Steele tried to get a submission with a FLYING HAMMERLOCK but Curry was able to reach the ropes to keep the match going. Curry was able to reverse a whip into the rails and then smashes Steele with a chair. A SERIES OF PUNCHES downs Steele for the win. ** ½
Vachons (Mad Dog Vachon & Butcher Vachon) v. Danny Hodge & Jerry Brisco Referee: Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Brisco gets into it with Mad Dog Vachon has finds some success but Butcher Vachon used his size to get the upper hand. Brisco survives a QUADRUPLE FOOT STOMP but cannot get the tag to Hodge before Mad Dog Vachon used a Mad Dog Pounce to get the victory. Winner: Vachons* ½ J.J. Dillon v. Sam Houston Referee: Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Dillon gets under the skin of Morgan Dollar. Houston has control of this one until they go to the floor where Dillon shoves Lano into Houston and then attacks Houston at ringside. Back in the ring, Dillon batters Houston from corner to corner leading up to the ELBOW DROP for a big near fall. The fans got behind Houston and he responded with a strong comeback leading to a deathjump cross body and the three count. Winner: Sam Houston **
Abdullah The Butcher v. “Rowdy” Roddy Piper Referee: James Beard; Dr. Mike Lano The fans are braced for an all out war and Butcher looks to deliver early with a foreign object blow. Piper is able to shake off the attack and lands a knee lift that rocks Butcher and leads to a SLEEPER. Butcher makes the ropes but Piper has control of the match. A blow from the top of the corner opens up Butcher’s cut suffered earlier in the Battle Royal and a second SLEEPER is enough to put Butcher down. Winner: Roddy Piper *
Bob Backlund v. Barry Windham Referee: Dick Woehrle; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside The action started with a handshake before Backlund went to work. Backlund dominated the action catching Windham with a wicked piledriver that likely should have ended it except for Windham’s leg landing on the rope. Windham attempted to get something going but a ROLLING BACKBRIDGE nearly ended it. Backlund used a Boston Crab for a submission attempt before crushing Windham with another piledriver to claim the victory. Windham is not pleased with himself after the match and wants nothing to do with the fans as he heads to the back. Winner: Bob Backlund **
Canadian Heavyweight Title Match – Jimmy Snuka [ch] v. The Destroyer Referee: Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside The fans were buzzing as Snuka made an effort to stretch out his injured muscles. The early action when to the Destroyer and it looked at times as if the Superfly should have stayed home. Destroyer trapped the champion in a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK but Snuka struggled his way to the ropes. The fans showed their appreciation and we now had a match. Snuka came back with chops and slams. He picked up a near fall with a backbreaker. Destroyer did not stay on the defensive for much longer after that and soon Snuka was in trouble again. Bow and arrow nearly submitted Snuka. The action started to go out side more often and that is where it ended. Destroyer backdropped the champion onto the floor and then rolled under the ropes to beat the ten count. Destroyer gets the win but Snuka retains the title. Winner: The Destroyer by count-out. *** 1/2 News and Views: • Controversy comes out of the London Gardens as The Destroyer is telling everyone he is the uncrowned Canadian Heavyweight Champion after his count-out victory over Jimmy Snuka tonight. Destroyer had to outlast 19 other competitors earlier in the night to earn his title shot and came up just short after dominating most of his encounter with the injured champion. Commissioner Teddy Long was quick to step in and make a rematch as part of the upcoming Maple Leaf Gardens show (Card 10). • After spending a great deal of time attempting to eliminate each other in tonight’s Battle Royal, Danny Hodge and Jerry Brisco had to team up later in the night and it did not go well. It appears that the partnership between the two is coming to an end and the two will square off on the next card at the Memorial Auditorium in Kitchener. • The last time Maple Leaf Wrestling was in Kitchener, Roddy Piper picked up a count-out win over Buddy Rose and Rose has been complaining about it ever since. Now Rose will get his chance to get his win back when he battles Piper in single action. However, there will be no count-outs this time as the match will be under Lumberjack rules! • The Midnight Express make their return to action despite not being fully recovered from their injuries to take on the rivals Rock ‘n’ Roll Express in Kitchener • In what promises to be an action packed main event in Kitchener, George “The Animal” Steele joins forces with Vachons to battle Sheepherders and “Wild” Bull Curry in a six man tag team war • Sam Houston picked up a win tonight and will be looking to keep that momentum going when he challenges Angelo Poffo in singles action • Konnan has struggled since his debut and he will be in Kitchener to face J.J. Dillon who had an impressive outing in the Battle Royal tonight.

Dillon delivered a grand performance in that Battle Royal though it wasn't quite enough to earn a title shot... Really enjoyed The Destroyer's victory over Superfly and looking forward to the inevitable rematch... Another awesome card!

Card 009 – Memorial Auditorium, Kitchener, Ontario Injuries: Stan Lane 3 cards; Bobby Eaton 3 cards; Jimmy Snuka 4 cards; Suspensions: Don Muraco 1 card; Jimmy Valiant 1 card; Johnny Valiant 1 card; Captain Lou Albano 1 card
John Pesek v. Koko B. Ware Referee: Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Pesek has some words with the official before bell and Dollar takes none to kindly to the exchange. This was an intense opener. Pesek had control and took the action to the mat but Ware was able to make the ropes to escape a TIGER MAN TOEHOLD. Ware was able to pick up the pace and took flight with dropkicks that spilled the action to the floor. Lano captured the brawl as Ware maintained the upper hand. Pesek managed to tie up Ware once again and ground his opponent into the mat including a pair of scissors and wristlocks. Ware came back with a cobra clutch suplex but was not able to follow up before both men collided after a whip to the corner. Pesek was up first and controlled the balance of ht encounter getting the pin after a waistlock slam. Winner: John Pesek ***
J.J. Dillon v. Konnan Referee: Dick Woehrle; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Dillon used every questionable tactic in the book to get the upper hand on Konnan early on. Dillon earned lots of heat but could never really get Konnan in a position to go for the win. Konnan trilled the fans with his top rope arm drags and standing sentons but looked to be in some serious trouble when he struck with a DDT out of nowhere to get the pin. Winner: Konnan. *
Sam Houston v. Angelo Poffo Referee: James Beard; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Houston had the fans behind as he mounted an impressive comeback against Poffo early into the match after Poffo punished his foe early with forearms. Dropkicks connected and the cross body blocks put Poffo to the mat. The action spilled outside and Poffo was able to get the upper hand and took Houston back into the ring connecting with a running stomp to the head. It was enough for the win (snakes eyes!) Winner: Angelo Poffo *
Jerry Brisco v. Danny Hodge Referee: Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Hodge took control of this one from the bell and simply had all the answers to Brisco’s attack. Hodge kept going back to a Boston Crab over and over again wearing down Brisco to the point where his OKLAHOMA SIDE ROLL scored the pin. Winner: Danny Hodge. **
Lumberjack Match – “Rowdy” Roddy Piper (w/Sam Houston, Koko B. Ware & Rock ‘n’ Roll Express) v. “Playboy” Buddy Rose (w/Angelo Poffo, J.J. Dillon, & Midnight Express) Referee: Dick Woehrle; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Both men had the advantage at various times in the match going out each other eyes at points and landing knees lifts and knee drops. The lumberjacks became involved first Piper getting worked over and then Rose took his lumps as well. Houston dropped Rose onto the concrete with a BULLDOG and then tossed an semi-conscious Rose back into the ring where Piper covered him for the win. Winner: Roddy Piper. * ½
Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton & Stan Lane) w/Jim Cornette v. Rock ‘n’ Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) Referee: Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Dollar has the fans roaring when he sends Cornette packing before the bell! The Express build on the momentum and go to work cutting of Lane and catching him with a slingshot stomp. Gibson traps Lane in a Gibson Leglock but Eaton is able to get into the match and the momentum turns after Divorce Court. The Express then crush Gibson with VEG-0-MATIC allowing Lane to get the pin while Eaton blocked Morton from making the save (Snake Eyes!). Winners: Midnight Express * ½
Cornette is back and tosses him his tennis racket. Morton goes down after blow! Gibson goes down as well. Alabama Jam for Morton. FLAPJACK for Gibson. Stomps for both Morton and Gibson as security arrives. Rock ‘n’ Roll Express are left in a heap. George “The Animal” Steele & Vachons (Butcher Vachon & Mad Dog Vachon) v. “Wild” Bull Curry & Sheepherders (Butch Miller & Luke Williams) Referee: Joey Marella; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Sheepherders grab Gary Michael Cappetta but the Vachons & Steele storm the ring to save the announcer from being assaulted. The action is out of control as the bell sounds. Butcher Vachon and Curry fall to the floor and trade blows. The back into the ring and outside again this time Curry gets the upper hand slamming Vachon onto the concrete. Back in the ring, Curry hits a Vachon with a SERIES OF PUNCHES and gets the quick victory. *
News and Views: • The feud between the Midnight Express and Rock ‘n’ Roll Express is on fire with Bobby Eaton & Stan Lane sending a message to Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson leaving them bloodied and battered. Both teams have injured each other in the last five cards and things can only get more intense going forward. The two teams will be in action against one another at Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens (Card 10). • George “The Animal” Steele & “Wild” Bull Curry were on opposite sides in tonight’s main event but did not see any action against one another but that is okay as the two will get plenty of opportunity in Toronto when they clash in a Texas Death Match • Once Buddy Rose regained his senses tonight, he was anything but pleased and has demanded a match with Sam Houston after Houston’s finisher lead directly to Rose loss. The two will battle as part of the undercard in Toronto. • Barry Windham has shown some frustration in recent weeks with his performance but he will need to be focused on the task at hand in Toronto when he battles the always dangerous Abdullah The Butcher • Don Muraco will return from suspension in Toronto as he steps into the ring with Bob Backlund. These two have a long history of battling all over the east coast and fans are hoping for that same intensity this time around. • “Rowdy” Roddy Piper showed tonight why he is considered one of the top contenders for the Canadian Heavyweight Title tonight but The Spoiler has his own thoughts on who should be next for title opportunity and will be looking to prove himself against Piper in singles action in Toronto • As already announced by Commissioner Teddy Long, the Maple Leaf Gardens show will feature a double main event. First, in the finals of the Canadian Open Tag Team Title Tournament, The Vachons will take on the Sheepherders with the winners claiming the titles • In the second main event, Canadian Heavyweight Champion Jimmy Snuka will defend his title against his top contender and them man who defeated the champion by count-out in London, The Destroyer.

Card 010 – Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto, Ontario Injuries: Stan Lane 2 cards; Bobby Eaton 2 cards; Jimmy Snuka 3 cards; Ricky Morton 1 card; Robert Gibson 1 card
Sam Houston v. “Playboy” Buddy Rose Referee: Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Rose demanded that he be announced at 219 pounds the crowd was all over him. It made little difference as Rose was focused on payback after Houston used his finisher on him outside the ring during the Lumberjack Match in Kitchener and he accomplished his goal in just a few minutes. A Bombs Away ended it. Winner: Buddy Rose. DUD
Texas Death Match – “Wild” Bull Curry v. George “The Animal” Steele Referee: Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside The fans were behind Steele and he responded immediately ripping open the buckles and rubbing the stuffing in Curry’s eyes. From that point, Steele almost submitted Curry with a FLYING HAMMERLOCK before working over Curry in and out of the ring. A table ended up in the ring and what can only be described as the worst looking double sledge deathjump perhaps ever was enough to put Curry through the table. The fans were roaring as Steele never let up and gained the win with another FLYING HAMMERLOCK. Winner: George Steele **
“Rowdy” Roddy Piper v. The Spoiler Referee: Dick Woehrle; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Piper has the fans engaged from the introductions and takes control of the action after the bell including trapping Spoiler in a figure four leglock. Spoiler made an impressive comeback countering a charge to the corner with a double knee to the chest. Spoiler attacks with knees and elbows. Even action outside did not turn the momentum of the encounter as Spoiler picked up a pair of near falls before catching Piper with a double underhook suplex for the win. Winner: The Spoiler **
Abdullah The Butcher v. Barry Windham Referee: Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Butcher was able to use his size early on to slow down Windham and a series of nerve holds did damage as did the foreign object blow that busted Windham open. Windham came back and showed he could brawl with the best of them. A LARIAT dropped Butcher but the kick out came at 2 ¾. Butcher and Windham went back and forth as they headed into the finish including a karate thrust to the throat that appeared to stop Windham in his tracks but Windham was able to lock in a sleeper for the hard fought victory (Snake Eyes!). Winner: Barry Windham ** ½
Bob Backlund v. Don Muraco w/Captain Lou Albano Referee: Joey Marella; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Backlund and Muraco went hold for hold, move for move from the outset building the tension at ringside. Muraco could not get the win with an over-the-shoulder backbreaker and later Backlund’s Boston Crab forced Muraco to the ropes. The action spilled to the floor and Muraco shoved Dr. Mike Lano into Backlund and the distraction was enough for Muraco to score with a slam onto the floor. Back in the ring, Muraco planted Backlund with an HAWAIIAN HAMMER for the win (Snake Eyes!). Winner: Don Muraco ***
Rock ‘n’ Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) v. Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton & Stan Lane) w/Jim Cornette Referee: Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside The Midnight Express attack their opponents before Gary Michael Cappetta finishes the introductions. The action never lets up from that point with both teams making frequent tags and using double teaming. A drop toe hold & elbow stuns Gibson and later a slingshot stomp rocks Lane. Both teams were able to pick up near falls. Morton saves Gibson from a RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP by Lane and the action carries on. The Express are able to get Morton cut off from this corner and crush him with a VEG-O-MATIC with Lane covering for the three count. Winners: Midnight Express. ***
Canadian Open Tag Team Title Tournament Finals – Vachons (Butcher Vachon & Mad Dog Vachon) v. Sheepherders (Butch Miller & Luke Williams) Referee: Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Mad Dog Vachon trades blows with Miller and a series of forearms rocks Miller before he sent into the rope and rebounded into a backdrop. Vachon crushes Miller with a Mad Dog Pounce and then hooks the leg for the three count while Butcher Vachon blocks the save. Winners and new Canadian Open Tag Team Champions Vachons. DUD.
Canadian Heavyweight Title Match – Jimmy Snuka [ch] v. The Destroyer Referee: Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside The referee has strict instructions for both competitors before calling for the bell. Snuka makes a push early after getting the upper hand and scores a very near fall after a piledriver. A deathjump headbutt does more damage but Destroyer is able to counter attack and goes to work with back breakers and knee drops. A bow and arrow does some significant damage and Superfly can barely make the ropes. Snuka’s injuries are clearly an issue as the action continues. Destroyer controls including a deathjump smash to the leg before he applies a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK to get the submission: Winner and new Canadian Heavyweight Champion: The Destroyer ***
News and Views: • Congratulations are in order for the new Canadian Heavyweight Champion The Destroyer who looked very impressive in defeating Jimmy Snuka to capture the title. Snuka’s injuries at the hands of Captain Lou Albano, Don Muraco & The Valiant Brothers were clearly a factor in the match and Commissioner Teddy Long was quick to sign a rematch for the title as the main event when Maple Leaf Wrestling returns to Oshawa for an event at the Civic Auditorium (Card 12). • Congratulations are also in order for the new Canadian Open Tag Team Champions Mad Dog and Butcher Vachon whose victory over Sheepherders in the title tournament finals was very convincing. The Sheepherders will get a return match in Peterborough when Maple Leaf Wrestling debuts at the Brock Arena • In a surprising roster move, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper has given his notice and departed the territory which has left a significant gap at the top of the contenders list. • Jim Cornette is telling everyone who will listen that the Midnight Express are the best tag team int the territory and their back to back victories over the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express certainly have backed up his claims. How long before Bobby Eaton & Stan Lane get their tag team title opportunity? • Don Muraco made a statement tonight in his return from suspension getting the victory of Bob Backlund. The win was not without controversy but Muraco just continues to be a force in the territory. Backlund will be looking for a rematch against Muraco not to mention former Canadian Heavyweight Champion Jimmy Snuka, who has a significant score to settle with Muraco and the rest of Captain Lou Albano’s men. • In other roster move, the popular Birdman Koko B. Ware has also departed and will be headed to the southern United States to compete. • The Spoiler continues to make his way up the contenders list and is only perhaps one key victory away from a title opportunity. • Up next, a Ringside television taping that will see all the new champions in action.
