The first televised game is going on now on both NBC and FOX. Anyone else watching?
I am excited for my Michigan Panthers as they have Jeff Fisher as their head coach. Of course being a Michigan/Detroit team they had the first pick. They took former Wolverine QB, Shea Patterson. Have to wait till Friday to see them on TV.

First TD in the new USFL was thrown by a former Detroit Lion's QB. OK, so he was only a Lion for 4 days in 2019 but I am counting it lol.

Oh sorry I didnt think anyone else would post about it lol ... I love FOOTBALL and watching!
Interesting game, the one kicker sucks lol. Not sure who I am routing for yet.
If not for Trump I think the USFL would have kept going back in the day, glad it's back!

It would gone on a bit longer, probably crashed for a bit (it would have had a rough time in the 90s) and it is nice to have it back as an alternative/supplement.

I just hope next year the teams have actual home games. I would go support the Tampa Bandits if they played in Tampa.

Yeah I feel like that is hurting the league, no one seems to be coming out for the non Birmingham games.
Echoing the comments I saw else where ... if Kapernick thinks he still has it why not come here? I think he is good but not good enough to start in the NFL but he could show some things here and get some film.
With that being said QB play has been odd, a lot of slow starters but 2nd halfs have been fun.

Just found out the league will be back in 2023 for sure. All teams are set to return. This season instead off all the games being in one city they will be played in 2-4 places. So no actual home games for all teams but they are expanding which is a step in the right direction.

Weekend one is in the books. Same number of teams, though the Tampa Bay Bandits re-badged to the Memphis Showboats, as Memphis is one of the 4 host cities this season (along with last years host Birmingham, last season's championship host of Canton, and Detroit). The defending champion Stallions, the Stars, the Panthers, and the Breakers got wins. I tuned into the Panthers/Gamblers game for a while. It was... Fine. Not as polished or exciting a presentation of the current XFL iteration.

I think XFL has more financial backing via both The Rock being involved and ESPN, thus the Disney empire, is also helping out. If the USFL can do decent this year I see a bump next year as having Fox involved could lead to NFL maybe getting involved and using USFL as a minor league for the NFL.
