Sam and Todd are joined by Zeke, Troy, John (riffdog), and JR Goldberg to determine the number one masked indie wrestler card from Filsinger Games Indies game line. There were clean sweeps, there were 2-2 tiebreakers, but, in the end, there can be only one! We had a great time discussing our reasons for the selections we made and I know I learned some things along the way. Plus, we have out usual coverage of the latest teasers and news from Fed HQ! This was a lot of fun listening to today. It was a pleasant surprise since I haven't really been much of an Indies player, but it made me want to dip my toes into that pool if only to have so many cool masked wrestler options.

Always great to have some additional fan voices to help add context as I'm not as familiar w/ a lot of the lucha superstars, but am always willing to hear the debates and helps look at the game in new ways.
These 'tournaments' are always a lot of fun as yeah sure fan favorites and those who people have vestige interest in have an advantage, but it does seem Todd takes that into account as the debates do always give me new information.

Just for fun, I decided to run the identical tournament while the panel was casting their votes... Of course, there was a little hiccup when I reached the first match of the wildcard bracket since one of the wrestlers hasn't actually been released yet... Fortunately, I was able to locate a last minute replacement... HA! For wrestlers with multiple cards, I opted to use the most recent indy release... Here are my results:
Masked Indies Tournament
Opening Round
1/ ULTRAMANTIS BLACK (3 tokens) def. Hallowicked via pinfall after a PRAYING MANTIS BOMB. -- A crazy match to kick things off... Hallowicked had the advantage from the opening bell until he missed a deathjump... UMB immediately hit his finisher and Hallowicked rolled snake eyes to bring this one to an end.
2/ DASHER HATFIELD (2 tokens) def. Jigsaw (5 tokens) via pinfall after a SUICIDE SQUEEZE. -- Hatfield came in hot, almost gaining a squash victory... Jigsaw bounced back, turning this into an exciting encounter.
3/ EL GENERICO def. Delirious via DQ after Delirious sprayed El Generico with RED POISON. -- This one ended pretty quickly and the only major surprise was that Delirious didn't get disqualified sooner due to his out of the ring shenanigans.
4/ BANDIDO (3 tokens) def. Luchasaurus (2 tokens) via pinfall after a 21 PLEX. -- A surprisingly strong showing for Luchasaurus, who nearly scored the upset... Bandido survived multiple close calls and came back with a late offensive flurry.
5/ MIL MUERTES (2 tokens) def. Laredo Kid (3 tokens) via pinfall after a powerslam. -- This was a fun back and forth exchange that could have gone either way... Nothing out of the ordinary as Muertes used his explosive power to ground his high flying opponent.
6/ FLAMITA (1 token) def. Rey Horus (3 tokens) via pinfall after a running shooting star press. -- These two were so evenly matched that it seemed like they might actually fight forever... Regardless of the fatigue count, both men would have been exhausted following this fast paced battle.
7/ SAMURAY DEL SOL def. Louis Lyndon via pinfall after a Yoshi Tonic. -- Lyndon appeared in his 'Felino Blanco' persona to serve as a replacement for Ninja Mack... He failed to land even a single offensive move as Del Sol swiftly put him down for a three count.
8/ EDITH SURREAL (3 tokens) def. Excalibur (3 token) via submission with a VENUS DE MILO. -- This was another really fun match that could have been won be either competitor if fortune's pendulum had decided to swing in the opposite direction.
Quarterfinals
1/ DASHER HATFIELD def. Ultramantis Black (2 tokens) via pinfall after a SUICIDE SQUEEZE. -- A pretty definitive squash... Hatfield's versatile offense was too much for UMB.
2/ BANDIDO def. El Generico (1 token) via pinfall after a 21 PLEX. -- Unfortunately, this contest failed to live up to its potential... Blame it on the virtual dice.
3/ FLAMITA (1 token) def. Mil Muertes via DQ when Muertes pushed the referee in order to continue his out of the ring assault on Flamita. -- Another promising match with a disappointing outcome... This is proof that Muertes should always be accompanied by a manager or valet that can provide a distraction when needed.
4/ EDITH SURREAL (3 tokens) def. Samuray Del Sol via submission with a VENUS DE MILO. -- Easily the best match of this round... Both competitors fought hard with the momentum shifting more and more frequently as the contest neared its dramatic conclusion.
Semifinals
1/ BANDIDO def. Dasher Hatfield (1 token) via pinfall after a 21 PLEX. -- Bandido proved that he wasn't getting paid by the hour, making short work of Hatfield in this one-sided affair.
2/ FLAMITA def. Edith Surreal via pinfall after a running shooting star press. -- This was a fast paced encounter that ended much too soon... It seemed like the competitors were just starting to hit their stride when Flamita scored the win... Have to think it might have been a fast count.
FINAL
** BANDIDO (1 token) def. Flamita (3 tokens) via pinfall after a 21 PLEX. -- Cue the pyro! Not the two finalists that were necessarily expected, but the performance they delivered was top notch... And I must admit that these two wear my two favorite masks of all the indy wrestlers in the game.
These tournaments are always great... It's always cool to hear the different opinions on who should advange and why... And playing along really added a neat dimension to the experience... I highly recommend it!

Very cool tournament. Very fun shame the Flamita/Edith and Generico/Bandido weren't more epic.

Unfortunately for Jigsaw, he is in my favorite Bryan Danielson match (if you know you know, but if you donβt) Great round table discussion, thanks to everyone involved
