Maple Leaf Wrestling - Card # 01

January 6th 1970 - Maple Leaf Gardens - Toronto, Ontario, Canada

1. Austin Idol beat Ted Dibiase at 3:43 with a Las Vegas Leg lock.
- This match was a great opener to kick off the tournament.
- At one point both men nearly got disqualified.
- Austin Idol now moves on to the Semi Finals of the championship tournament.

- Tokens - Ted Dibiase = 2

2. “Macho Man” Randy Savage beat Bruiser Brody with a Flying Elbow Smash at 2:15.
- Decent match between these two competitors.
- The fans were really behind Randy Savage.
- Randy Savage will now go on to face Austin Idol in the Semi Finals of the tournament.

- Tokens - Bruiser Brody = 1

3. Ivan Koloff beat Nick Bockwinkel with a Russian Sickle at 3:59.
- Ivan Koloff was able to get by the odds on favorite Nick Bockwinkel.
- Ivan Koloff moves on to the next round and will face either Bobo Brazil or Mad Dog Vachon.

- Tokens - Nick Bockwinkel = 3 Ivan Koloff = 1

4. Bobo Brazil defeated Mad Dog Vachon with a Coco Butt at 0:29.
- This was a complete squash by Bobo Brazil.
- Bobo Brazil will now face Ivan Koloff in the Semi Finals of the Heavyweight tournament.

5. Baron Von Raschke beat Koko B. Ware with a Brain Claw at 2:48.
- It was a very entertaining bout between these two.
- Baron Von Raschke put on the Brain Claw and Ware had no choice but to submit.

- Tokens - Koko B. Ware = 1

6. “Macho Man” Randy Savage beat Austin Idol at 3:19 with a Flying Elbow Smash.
- Great match between these two greats.
- Randy Savage moves on to the finals to compete for the MLW Heavyweight championship.

- Tokens - Austin Idol = 5 Randy Savage = 1

7. Bobo Brazil beat Ivan Koloff after two Coco Butts at 1:17.
- Quick match with Bobo Brazil advancing to the finals of the tournament.
- Bobo Brazil now moves on to face Randy Savage for the Heavyweight championship.

- Tokens - Ivan Koloff = 1

8. “Macho Man” Randy Savage beat Bobo Brazil at 5:37 to become the first Maple Leaf Wrestling Heavyweight champion.
- This match was a war that could have gone either way.

- At one point the referee was knocked down and mayhem went down!

- After the match Bobo Brazil waffled Randy Savage with a steel chair and then left ringside with the championship belt to end the show.
