Will be listening as soon as I get in the car. First experience with Star Wars was being amazed by story of Empire Strikes Back as a six year old. As a seven-year-old I was just super annoyed by the Ewoks, and still am. Don't "at" me.

Hi Yeah we all have our own journeys in a galaxy far, far away! Not that mine is unique (or at all interesting, LOL), here's the Reader's Digest version: Saw a poster for SW in the Calvin Theater in Northampton in early '77. Poster said, "Coming soon!" Had to wait till summer '78 for it to finally be shown there. Went with nephew who was 7 at the time and sat near the front, got in for FREE since my cousin worked the ticket window (the best things in life are free, YAY)! Watched the movie a second time the next day (same theater, same time, same nephew), and when I got home, a girl that I liked said she had seen it but she SLEPT THROUGH IT! I'm like O!M!G! How could she sleep through one of the greatest movies of all-time?? Fast-forward to SW:TESB -- Read the paperback novel first. No way the big reveal was real. NO WAY! Well, yeah it was. A space "soap opera". Loved the movie, but the reveal made no sense back then. NOW it makes sense, but not then. Return of the Jedi was really good! Don't get me started on Leia in that, hehehee! I'm skipping over the prequels (except to say Revenge of the Sith wasn't that bad)... The final trilogy made me feel like I rode a rollercoaster after each movie, am I one of the few that loved all 3 of these? The Obi-Wan trailer reveal makes me wonder how that is going to play out? I wonder how close to breaking canon they will get as far as a fight between the two main characters? (You KNOW which two, haha)! So yeah, that's my history with the movies! Oh... and May the Force be with You... Always! Todd C WTIC

I started listening to this episode tonight.
I first started watching Star Wars when my dad took me to see A New Hope in the theater about a year after it was first released. I had probably about 90% of the Kenner action figures and toys (I think some of them are still at my parent's house in Seattle.)
I also played all 3 SNES Star Wars games alot (and also the similar SNES Indian Jones trilogy video game) when I was an undergraduate.
I am looking forward to the Kenobi series on Disney+ starting the week after next!
Also, in addition to Zicky Dice, Ray Rosas from CWFH Act II has a fanny pack in his card art.
I look forward to finish listening to this episode tomorrow!

I finished listening to this episode this weekend.
It is awesome that Todd, Mike, and Sam are all big Star Wars fans!
When I saw a trailer for Kenobi, I was confused because it looked like he was fighting Darth Maul which made me wonder how that would be possible based on what happened between Kenobi and Darth Maul on Tatooine in Rebels. But then I found out- according to what I read- that was not Darth Maul in the Kenobi trailer but instead it is apparently another Zabrak. Speaking of the Rebels animated series, in addition to Thrawn, Sabine Wren is probably the character I am most looking forward to seeing make their live-action debut and I think it is going to happen in either the next upcoming Mandalorian series and/or the upcoming Ahsoka series as there has reportedly even been an actress selected for the part.
Sam, I did not know your birthday is in late May. Next year you should come here to Las Vegas for Double or Nothing weekend for your birthday since you are a big AEW fan.
Looking forward to listening to this week's episode!

I enjoyed the Star Wars talk. I remember going to see the original movie when I was four. I had nightmares afterwards about Darth Vader! I had a lot of action figures from SW and ESB, that trickled off by the time ROTJ came out. I did read the Heir to the Empire series. I think I picked up the first book on a trip to GalactiCon and read it on the plane. When the original trilogy was released in Special Edition form, I saw all of them three times in the theaters. I have a couple of the VHS box sets of the original trilogy and the DVD set of them. I'm similar to Todd about watching the Clone Wars cartoons. It seems overwhelming to watch them now, but knowing that they tie into the D+ series, I need to get caught up on them. To be honest, I haven't found the first two seasons of Clone Wars that interesting. Please don't shoot me!

In regards to the clone wars it’s really not that overwhelming. Each episode is maybe 20 minutes and I usually throw them on in the background because the first season is kind of aimed at kids and then it turns fast and becomes really good. My wife watched the whole series in a couple weekends and was shocked she got through it so quick

For Tournament Master, Chad Olson, and anyone else who has not seen Rebels, I would strongly recommend watching on Disney+ the Rebels episode called Twin Suns (it is Season 3, Episode 20) before you start watching Kenobi next week. The episode deals with Kenobi on Tatooine while watching over Luke and it includes at least one important event in Star Wars history. I think the episode is just over 20 minutes. Also, speaking of Rebels, before the next Mandalorian season, I would watch Rebels Season 3 Episodes 15 and 16 which deal with the Dark Saber and the history of Mandalore (as do some other episodes.)

Great episode! Saw the original Star Wars (New Hope) about 2 months after it came out in 1977, on a family vacation of all things. From the opening minute, I was completely hooked. Thought it was the greatest thing I'd ever seen. Kinda still do! And then....what's this???.....I hear there's going to be another movie, a sequel!!! We were all so pumped when we heard that, years after the first one. I remember being somewhat disappointed with Empire though, didn't like the whole Darth-as-father reveal one bit, and wasn't buying it....no way, no how. Didn't like that the Empire "went over" in this installment. Return of Jedi comes out, and all is made right in the universe. I accepted Darth-as-father, and as the good guys won, was a happy camper. Read one Star Wars novel, based upon the movies...cannot remember the title for the life of me, and I've long since lost the book. Leia and Luke took on Vader in some kind of ancient shrine in a jungle? Very fuzzy memory, the cover had a picture of Vader on it. Liked the book though, as it was cool there was a book furthering the story beyond the movies. And then, the "first 3" came out. Um....yea.... At least #3 wasn't too bad. Final 3 I really enjoyed, if only for nostalgia's sake. That's my journey. In large part, I missed out on the whole Extended Universe bit with the books. Would Heir to the Empire still hold up today, as an entertaining read? May have to read that triology....then again, when I saw a copy of an older cover of #1 in that triology, it looked very, very familiar, and I may have read that after all. Don't remember much of it. DID buy the original Marvel comics run, that adapated the movie into comic form. LOVED it as a kid. LOST it as a kid too. I was so good at recognizing the future value of collectibles. Thanks for the memories guys! EDIT: Found that first Star Wars book I'd read. Was by Alan Dean Foster, titled "Splinter of the Mind's Eye", came out in '78. Again, thought it was very cool there was a "sequel" to Star Wars, even in book form. Not too sure about that jungle setting though... EDIT #2: So, as I seem to be plunging down a rabbit hole with this whole "Splinter of the Mind's Eye" book I've miraculously rediscovered, it seems like it was to be the genesis of the actual sequel to New Hope, or a possible sequel? They wanted a possible low-budget sequel to Star Wars in case the first movie wasn't as successful as hoped, and this book could've served that purpose. And, I am validated....it was set in a jungle!!! I never knew any of this....okay, out of the rabbit hole I go!

@stu … I believe you refer to “Splinter of the Minds eye” … I loved the books especially anything by Timothy Zahn. Someone on YouTube is animating and producing heir to the empire as a movie! youtube.com/playlist?list=PLIXGhtpYcgXdpREUecruJR1Yy3h8w4d-sShocked you didn’t like empire more but what I say next may not be surprising … empire is my first remembered movie experience (they say your firsts are usually your favorite). I saw empire and Jedi back to back as one movie at the drive in in 84. And I told had Mother Superior say the line to Bloodline and Encubus “NO! I am your mother.” I like pretty much anything Star Wars except the last three movies, there all over the place. I think the prequels have gotten better BECAUSE of the cartoon.
