Too bad this is a RECAP thread. time for my recap
Thursday
I flew into Chicago and landed about 7 AM. It was too early to check in so I ate breakfast, did my daily fed results at the bar, dropped off my bags, and went to see Thor Love and Thunder (C+.) I then went back to the hotel and met up with Tournament Master, the_faction, and his wife and we took a Lyft to Wrigleyville for dinner where we were met by director65, cman, Thomas (TK), and his son Marcus (I don't know Marcus's screen name here or I would tag him too.) Afterward, we went to the Mets-Cubs game at Wrigley and at in the bleachers. The Mets won 8-0 and I got to see Pete Alonso (who played for AAA Las Vegas in 2018 back when Las Vegas was the top farm team for the Mets) hit a 2-run home run. Then we went back to the hotel where malicelover brought down all these Milwaukee beers such as Spotted Cow that we got to sample.
Friday
I went to lunch with Tournament Master, Sam Fain, TTX, jimsteel, Troy's wife (I don't know the screen name,) The Faction, The Faction's wife, and malicelover at Pequods and somehow we all fit around the same table. I have eaten at Pequod's before (back when I was in Chicago in 2018) and their pizza is great but not as good IMO as Lou's. Afterward, some of us went to Quake Collectibles and then back to the hotel where we got the 2038 set early. At the hotel at that time I got to see Chad Olson, Steve Williams again (that was great because it was the first time I got to see Steve in 10 years,) Drew, @kevinb, Stryker, EpicDave, Matt, jmello, DK II and his wife Lori, Mike Fortune (I don't know Mike' screen name,) and Brian V (I don't know Brian's screen name.) Also, one guy came over to shake my hand and at first I was not sure who it was even though I knew I had met him before. It turned out to be Swarm and the reason it took me a minute to recognize him was because Rob told me he lost something like 50 lbs since I last saw him back at Galactcion 2018 in Pittsburgh and he looks great. Me and EpicDave then went to see the AAW show which was good and I made a couple of good signings there. We took a Lyft there but after the show a friend of mine who I know who goes to PWG (he was in the Great Lakes region after interviewing to be the lawyer for the Detroit Lions) drove us back to the hotel. We got back to the hotel and joined everyone in the bar until Director 66 invited me and Tournament Master to his room for some of Steve Austin's beers which are great beers.
Saturday
I went downstairs to the Michigan Room which turned out to be big enough for the convention (but it was still small room compared to previous Galacticon rooms.) I went something like my usual 0-3 in the tournaments but won an autographed Kurt angle LOW card in the auction. Good to see for the first time that weekend on Saturday guys like @deletedsmoke and his family, Pete, Brock, Sam Luptak, Milton, hexxstar, Reno and Steve, and others who I might be forgetting (if so, I apologize. I would have tagged you guys too but I don't know your screen names.)
Sunday
I made it to the Semi-Finals of the Indy tournament with Ninja Mack but only won 1 match in the Canada Cup (Mimic IMO should not have been in that jobber/undercard tournament.) I enjoyed the James Mitchell interview and then it was time to go after malicelover (my ride to Milwaukee) got eliminated in the final tournament. Congrats to Troy for winning the Cup again (I could hear the boos from the lobby so I knew who won even without being in the room.) Right before we left in the parking, I suddenly had the idea I needed to confirm I had my keys (front door, truck, etc) which I definitely needed when I got back to Las Vegas. I could not find them in either bag so I went back inside the hotel where the front desk gave me a key to go back to my room and I found my keys just barely sticking out of the cushions of the couch where I had slept the past 3 nights. Malicelover and his wife then drove me to Milwaukee (thanks again to both of them!) where they dropped me off at my hotel and I watched on my labtop that night's GCW show.
Monday through Wednesday
I toured Milwaukee, first time in that city. Some highlights included the Bronze Fonz, Milwaukee Brat House (thanks to malicelover for the recommendation!,) The Crusher statue, Harley-Davidson Museum, historic 3rd ward, Milwaukee River Walk, Milwaukee Public Market, and the Brewers stadium. I flew home via Minneapolis on Wednesday night to Las Vegas. I regret having to miss Waterloo this year but I hope to go back there next year.
