I got my physical 2087 RI yesterday, and I don't know if it's because I'm 50 y.o. and have had the originals since the dawn of COTG, but I thought the new cards where meh. Like Thantos looks so wildly different that he really is kind of goof and lanky to me. Now art is subjective and other may think there the best thing since sliced bread, but I'm just saying some of the cards don't fit the body size and mass that I see from Chucks originals. Star Warrior went from super handsome with a big chin to buff Don Johnson with long flowing hair. Killer Queen, Pit Viper, Commander Sam, etc., look really good, but Actagon looks slim for 256 lbs. while Proteus, at 263 lbs. looks right, and Massacre looks goofy without the mustache not to mention the goofy outfit. Again, these are the opinions of a senile old man who hate change and kids on my lawn. What's your opinion?
P.S. Who is the Artist? I've looked on the cards and can't find the name.

I have enjoyed the reimagined series and it is nice to have the guys from the early days in colour. Some of the art is awesome. However I do agree some of them maybe not what I expected. I think the drawing of Thantos is great but I really hoped his famous scar was visible. He also looks very young. It is quite a departure from the original. I just visualise the wrestler in my head as looking like whichever card art I prefer.
I think in the later reimagined sets there is more killer art. Very few I wasn't keen on. The ones that stick out were Lance At-Las and maybe Royal Overlord looking too jacked. But there are so, so many good ones too. All the Galactic Rebels guys look great with Tendron as the stand out. I believe the artist is Werner Mueck for all reimagined sets.

Looking forward to the other reimagined ones then. Looking through the cards again and splitting them in piles, I find half to look really good and some all right and the rest not so good.
Can someone tell me why Mutant is naked? That is creepy as all. Who would wrestle him now?

It's a mutant.....why do we expect it to wear clothing at all?

Banks and Werner are my fav GWF artists and I have enjoyed all of the reimagined art greatly and feel it's a HUGE improvement. I should add that I was never a big Chuck Carter fan though.

I think the Gladiators are my favorite art from that set over the original artwork.

Well coming from a another 50 plus old man, I like your enthusiasm. Telling youngins to get off our lawn is an inalienable right in my book. Things were better in our day. These whippersnappers just don't know. With that being said as I get help up my soapbox. Not as spry anymore ... Nothing will be like opening up a shiny white envelope and pulling out a Chuck Carter drawing. I will always prefer the originals over the new ones. But with that being said and trying to fit in with them youngins, a lot of this new art is fantastic in its own way I always play it as a parallel universe anyway. In my parallel universe fed I play these guys off on each other all the time. Who is the best Star Warrior, the best Thantos, the best Wolf, in the new set I loved the first Ursa Major that they showed, and was sort of disappointed in the new one because he looked too cool? I wanted a dope like the Carter drawing. Now I am a bit worried that black hole Bart and Astro Turk will end up looking like their egos as opposed to what they should look like. Nobody needs good looking or in shape Astro Turk and black hole Bart. Yes those are the two that I am the most excited for. Fight me. Well actually don't fight me very old now and only have about 15 seconds of actual fight left me at any given time. Now I'm going to go get a beer and a Pot pie and reminisce about the good old days.

Hey, I need good looking and in shape Astro Turk and Black Hole Bart. Meteor Storm for the HOF. The only thing that held them back was backstage politics.

Oh oh oh! The 'memberbaerries are kickin' in. Oh my goodness, I remember Blackhole Bart and Astro Turk. Wheren't they them there first jobbers? No finishers? wasn't there some singles like that too? What year was that in? to many questions. I need a nap.

2087 reimagined Thantos is widely considered a head scratcher. I’ve always felt like it would have made great art for a new character and doesn’t do the legacy of Thantos justice.
Werner and I are booked to start work on 2093 at the beginning of August.
