There has been one match added, for the just created Gladiator Championship! After all the other clones were made, there was enough genetic material left for two more. The first is Cosmic Crunch (6'5", 245 lbs.). who I'm told was made of DNA from eight different champions! Sounds promising. The second is Meat Slab (5'9", 253 lbs.) who contains the DNA of a variety of enhancement talents. Talent that's been enhanced? He must be great! And now, on to the matches.
Title Match For The Gladiator Championship: Cosmic Crunch vs. Meat Slab
Crunch dominated, Slab got no offense. C2 soon realized that his foe was almost defenseless and hit the FALLING STAR DDT for an easy win.
Match length 3:02.
Cosmic Crunch becomes the Gladiator Champion.
Qualifying match for the NOW World Tag-Team Championship: The Fantastics vs. The Sheepherders
It was even until Williams got frustrated and threw Fulton out of the ring. He then jumped out attacked his Fantastic foe, beating Fulton's head against the floor. When he refused to stop, the referee disqualified him. The other two men never even got into the match.
Match length 2:03
The Fantastics move to the title match for the NOW World Tag Team Championship.
First round match in tournament for the NOW World Championship: Ivan Koloff vs. Barry Windham
A short but brutal match. Windham made an early mistake and Koloff took full advantage with brutal attacks. He then wounded Windham with a chain, and went for the kill with several pinning combinations. Thinking his young opponent was done for, the Russian went to the top rope for a flying legdrop. Windham quickly jumped up and devastated him, mid leap, with a LARIAT! Koloff barely beat the pinfall. To his misfortune, Windham was waiting for him with another LARIAT, and this time he was unable to kick out.
Match length 6:59
Barry Windham moves to the second round in the NOW World Championship tournament.
First round match in tournament for the NOW World Championship: Tully Blanchard vs. Brad Armstrong.
Blanchard dominated the match by using weapons and other cheap tactics. The only offense Armstrong got was hitting him with knee lifts on the two occasions Tully leaped off the top rope. Both times, the sneaky veteran quickly rolled out of the ring and caught Brad with dirty strikes when he chased after him. Thinking the referee was distracted, he gave Armstrong a piledriver on the announcer's table, but the ref turned around just in time, saw it, and disqualified him. Armstrong lay in the remnants of the table, a broken, bloody man, but victorious. Blanchard cursed at the referee and threatened to attack him, but a warning about suspensions made him back off.
Match length 4:38
Brad Armstrong moves to the second round in the NOW World Championship tournament.
Qualifying match for the NOW World Tag-Team Championship: The Rock & Roll Express vs. The Midnight Express (with Jim Cornette)
It was a back and forth match, and all four men had time to shine. In the end, Ricky Morton ran out of gas after a long period of high impact offense from Bobby Eaton. An Alabama Jam put the Rocker down. Robert Gibson ran in to try to save his friend, but Stan Lane cut him off with a flurry of kicks. The Midnights hugged in the middle of the ring while Cornette gave Gibson something to remember them by with his tennis racket.
Match length 15:34
The Midnight Express move to the title match for the NOW World Tag-Team Championship.
First round match in tournament for the NOW World Championship: Magnum TA vs Terry Gordy
It would have been a much shorter match if not for the incredible toughness of both men. They were hitting each other with their best attacks early on, with both of them kicking out of pins in the first three minutes that would have finished most other wrestlers. Toward the end, Magnum lost his temper after Gordy ran to the outside, so he chased after him and hit him with a chair. The referee either didn't see it or just decided to let him get away with it. Either way, it took the fight out of the big man, and TA pinned him soon after following a BELLY-TO-BELLY SUPLEX. A controversial finish, but Magnum is that much closer to the gold.
Match length 15:34
Magnum TA moves to the second round in the NOW World Championship tournament.
First round match in tournament for the NOW World Championship: Steve Williams vs. Masked Superstar
It looked like Superstar was going to have an early night, as for the majority of the match Williams was destroying him with a punishing onslaught. The masked rulebreaker fought back a few times, but his burly foe quickly shut him down each time. Around ten minutes in, though, his strategy started to show, as Steve was showing signs of fatigue. He started really slowing down at the twelve minute mark. A couple of minutes later, during a brawl outside the ring, Williams was completely exhausted and had nothing left. Masked Superstar began his comeback with a SWINGING NECKBREAKER onto a table, and things only got worse for Williams from there. A non-ending series of attacks to his neck showed that the end was near. He was able to kick out a few times, but it seemed that Superstar was enjoying hurting him and didn't mind continuing the match. Finally, one more SWINGING NECKBREAKER ended the massacre. Superstar used Williams' jersey to wipe the sweat off his arms, and then raised them in victory.
Match length 17:00
Masked Superstar moves to the second round in the NOW World Championship tournament
And that's all for tonight, folks. Join us next week when we have our second round of matches for the world championship, and in the main event, The Fantastics take on the Midnight Express for the tag-team championship. Fare thee well, and keep watching this channel!
