I mean it's just one minor art thing but if you want to pay 50 to have it go with it. Nah, I totally get it, I wouldn't pay 50 bucks for it, but considering that it went for 100+ dollars at auction, I could see maybe someone who didn't win but bid higher being totally willing to.

TTX, it is the rarity of the card. I mean it was one of the "rare" unique collectibles that were available in the Collector's Packs made available to in person attendees at GCON this year. I think the Leva Bates card would also fetch a fair price, because it was limited to the collectable packs - not as rare as the Steele, but again it's the quantity that makes them "rare." I got the Steele because it was rare, I don't know that I'd have wanted it if I didn't have money budgeted to make the payment for it, same for the Piper's Pit Alternate art, and I surely wouldn't have paid another promoter for that much - if I didn't get the card in my budgeted price point.

I mean I have the green card with the correct stats but unless you're collecting for collectibles (I collect to support the game but I have no plans on selling stuff even rare stuff that I have despite only really playing online) it's a bit crazy. Still, if it supports the game, I'm not going to tell a person they're wrong for spending that much money.

It's not just that there's an error, it's that there's an error that was caught and corrected, and the corrected card is the one that end up in general circulation. There's an error on Lance Russell's card, but since that card ended up in general circulation, I doubt if it's more valuable just because of the typo.

I collect, but like Troy, I don't collect to sell or for any investment. I just enjoy having all the cards available to me and supporting the game. If there was ever a MASSIVE signing like a Flair or Stunning Steve Austin or something, I would definitely fork over $50 for a limited production card.

If there was ever a MASSIVE signing like a Flair or Stunning Steve Austin or something, I would definitely fork over $50 for a limited production card. Right there with you. However, if the going rate for a virtual con Exclusive card is x dollars, and it is a card I do not use (I don't play Kronos), I'm not going to give it away, if the market is saying this is the value of the card. I mean to get back to where I was in the early 2000's, after my dad tossed my stuff when my parents sold their house, didn't tell me, and how should he have known, I moved two times (Indiana to Seattle) prior to their move, and never once asked for it, I paid a ton to do it, because that's the market. OOP sets for the B&W COTG era, is going for what they are going for, same for the First Editions (with one copyright date) of some of those first sets (Galaxian Invasion I, Galaxian Invasion II, 2090, and yeah the later printings [non first 500] first sets) also go for a lot as well. It is what it is, and honestly, if people aren't ok with a particular price, they don't have to pay it. I mean Johnny Rocket's Launching Pad is up on eBay right now, it's going for $152. That's the value someone is putting on it. Who cares if I think that is what it is worth or not, it is the cost that someone is willing to pay for it. And, the seller posted as an auction, not as a buy it now, and the opening cost was $0.99, so some people must really value that card. Hats off to them.
