Appalachian Championship Wrestling from the KFBE Channel 9 Studio with Gordon Solie.
A video package from the Summer Blast Super Show opens the episode showing various cuts of matches, ending with ACW Heavyweight Champion, Curt Hennig’s victory over Magnum TA.
“Hello and welcome to Appalachian Championship Wrestling, I’m Gordon Solie, and the fallout from Summer Blast is still settling. On today’s episode, we’ll see Magnum TA in action. We’ll also see the James Gang’s return. Stan Hansen faces The Grappler. The Rock and Roll Express will take on the Texas Hangmen, and in our main event, The World’s Strongest Man, Mark Henry faces The Spoiler in a number one contender’s match for a shot at the ACW TV Championship. Let’s go to the ring for our opening match.”
Jimmy Valiant vs Frogman LeBlanc
Jimmy Valiant defeats Frogman LeBlanc by pinfall at 4:29, after hitting his Boogie Woogie Elbow finisher.
“Up Next the James Gang returns!!”
James Gang vs The Mulkeys
The James Gang defeats the Mulkey’s by pinfall at 4:43, after Kip James hit Bill Mulkey with a jackhammer. After the match, BG James starts to challenge the Road Warriors for their ACW Tag Team Championships, but is interrupted by Ivan Koloff. Ivan tells them that they are unworthy challengers and that Volkoff and Smirnoff would embarrass them by beating them easily. BG James then challenges the Russians to a match next week. As Ivan accepts, the Russians attack, injuring BG James with a minor injury.
“The Russians have sent a message to the James Gang and The Road Warriors. They want those ACW Tag Team titles and will do anything to anyone who stands in their way. Up next, we’ll see Heenan Family member, Tully Blanchard in action.”
Tully Blanchard (with Bobby Heenan) vs George South.
Tully Blanchard defeats George South by pinfall at 4:42, after hitting his Slingshot Suplex finisher. After the match, Heenan and Tully cut a promo about bringing the ACW TV title back into the Heenan family. Tommy Rich defeated Heenan family member, Barry Windham at Summer Blast after Rich used an “illegal choke” (Wildfire Sleeper finisher.) to win the belt. *
“Magnum TA is in action next.”
Magnum TA vs Kenny Jay
Magnum TA defeats Kenny Jay by pinfall at :57, after hitting his Belly to Belly Suplex finisher. During the after match interview, Magnum is ambushed by Curt Hennig and a brawl erupts. As security breaks up the fight, an angry Teddy Long points out that these two have been fighting with each other over the past year and a half, from No DQ’s, to First Blood’s, to I quit matches and nothing has been resolved. So they’re going to settle it once and for all at the September Super Show “Fallout”, inside Hell in a Cell.
“A Hell in a Cell match for the ACW Heavyweight championship. This will be a war. Up next, Stan Hansen faces The Grappler.”
Stan Hansen vs The Grappler
Stan Hansen defeats the Grappler by pinfall at 8:32, after hitting his Lariat finisher.
“Hansen gets another win and is steadily climbing the championship rankings. Up next is a main event anywhere in the country as the Rock and Roll Express takes on The Texas Hangmen.”
The Rock and Roll Express vs The Texas Hangmen
The Rock and Roll Express defeat the Texas Hangmen by pinfall at 10:21, after hitting their Double Drop Kick finisher on Killer.
“Now it’s time for our main event, and it’s a number one contender’s match for a shot at the ACW TV title, as The World’s Strongest Man, Mark Henry faces the Spoiler.”
Mark Henry vs The Spoiler
The Spoiler defeats Mark Henry by referee stoppage at 12:21, after applying his Bionic Claw finisher to become the new number one contender for the ACW TV Title. He will face Tommy Rich next week.
“Be sure to tune in next week!! We’ll see Dusty Rhodes in action. The James Gang faces Volkoff and Smirnoff, and our main event will be for the ACW TV title as Tommy Rich will defend against the Spoiler. We’ll see you all next week. Goodnight.”
* ACW TV title rules dictate Windham can not rematch after a second defeat.
