Nice stuff. I wasn't expecting Angelo and Lanny Poffo to win, but definitely would have preferred them over Henry and Brown... I guess the Poffos are a bunch of losers after all, like Heenan said smh. Henry & D'Lo get the Bulldogs in the quarterfinals so we'll see what happens. Thanks for reading homie 👊

Seems like a good night for the heels, for the most part. That does my old, wrinkled, villainous heart good. You've obviously done a lot of homework or otherwise watched a LOT of wrestling, because you have the "voice" for each of your competitors down cold. Even in an encapsulated result, I can see and hear the actual wrestlers like they were on my TV screen (I'm too broke to get a ticket to the live event). You have a masterful writing style that works really well with the well-known talents you've got in the CWF. Really, really good job. Except... Blanchard and Anderson were clearly robbed, and I want sanctions brought against that crooked referee Dick Woehrle, kk? All around an awesome show, buddy. Can't wait to see night two! (On my TV screen. From home.)

Re: Woehrle, word is Heenan immediately filed a grievance with the office and there should be news later today or this evening on the outcome of that (if I'm not still sick as a dog). Thanks as always for the compliments but tbh you're draining my wallet buddy 😉

CWF NEWSWIRE
A formal complaint was submitted to the CWF office immediately following Friday night's event from manager Bobby Heenan regarding a match officiated by referee Dick Woehrle. After a speedy, albeit careful review, it has been determined that Mr. Woehrle did indeed overstep his authority during the Rob Van Dam & 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard match when he physically got involved. More specifically when he pushed Mr. Heenan off of the ring apron late in the affair. Therefore, Mr. Woehrle has been suspended for Saturday night's event without pay. He will return in his normal capacity Sunday evening.
When reached for comment, Woehrle wholeheartedly disagreed with, however respected the decision. Off the record however, Woehrle said "that Weasel should have just stayed on the floor where he belonged." Heenan on the other hand was still not happy with the decision, claiming the "incompetent" and "senile" Woehrle cost his team a shot at the Tag Team Championship, which ultimately took money out of their (and especially his) pockets.

THANK GOODNESS!!! It's good to see that the CWF is being governed by the sort of responsible officials that recognize poor officiating when they see it. Perhaps it's time for Mr. Woehrle to accept early retirement and sail into the sunset?

THANK GOODNESS!!! It's good to see that the CWF is being governed by the sort of responsible officials that recognize poor officiating when they see it. Perhaps it's time for Mr. Woehrle to accept early retirement and sail into the sunset? We here in the CWF know Bobby Heenan and his antics all too well, but we try to be as fair as possible. Just because he jumped on the ring apron acting like a prick, it didn't give Woehrle the right to "viciously attack the man" (Arn Anderson's words, not mine). Woehrle took it all in stride and seems to be pretty content with having the night off as he was last seen loading his clubs into the back of his Oldsmobile Cutlass and headed toward Langston Golf Course. He has a nice savings and doesn't NEED to work, but he loves the business (just not long matches). There are a few guys in the locker room (Heenan especially) who would agree with you and believe it's time for Woehrle to call it quits, although most believe he's better than ever and love his no nonsense approach to officiating. You didn't hear it from me but nearly everyone believes Dick could whoop the Brain's butt if they ever really got into it. 😂

I would love to see that fight! If you could call it a fight. Maybe a slap fight?
An exchange of big words, maybe?
Ooo! Bobby Heenan vs. Dick Woehrle in a rap battle!

House Show #2 – 01/16/1982 Capital Centre – Landover, MD Welcome to the Capital Wrestling Federation where we are back at the Capital Centre for night two of a huge three night event featuring the top stars in professional wrestling. Tonight, the CWF Tag Team Title tournament continues with four quarterfinal matches, and the CWF Heavyweight Title tournament kicks off with four main event level bouts under one roof. All of this, plus World Women’s Champion The Fabulous Moolah is set to defend her title. Let’s go to the ring!
Ring announcer Gary Michael Cappetta welcomed the fans to more Capital Wrestling Federation action. He then ran down the rules of the CWF Heavyweight Title tournament. 8 wrestlers in a single elimination format. First round matches will have a 45 minute time limit, semifinals will have a one-hour time limit, and the finals will have no time limit. Meanwhile the Tag Team Title tournament quarterfinals will have a 30 minute time limit... Bob Backlund was introduced first to a huge ovation, followed by Kurt Angle who was greeted to a mostly positive reaction…
1. Bob Backlund b Kurt Angle to advance to the CWF Heavyweight Title tournament semifinals This match had potential classic written all over it but nearly ended before it had a chance to get going. Backlund scored a very quick near fall early on when Angle missed a turnbuckle charge and got rolled up for a 2-count. Things settled down and Angle went on the offensive drilling Backlund with a perfectly executed German suplex for a another near fall. Backlund turned things around and went for his ATOMIC DROP but Angle flipped over top and countered with his OLYMPIC SLAM, but referee Bill Alfonso noticed Backlund's foot draped over the bottom rope and stopped his count at 2 1/2! A frustrated Angle picked Backlund back up and dropped him with a second OLYMPIC SLAM, but still couldn't keep the former WWF Champion down! A frustrated Angle had words with Alfonso before sending Backlund into the ropes, but he put his head down a bit too early and got caught with a big neckbreaker. As the fans rose from their seats, Backlund waited for Angle to slowly get to his feet before lifting him up for another ATOMIC DROP, this time nailing it and gaining the pinfall at the 30:01 mark…
Promoter's Note: Backlund somehow came out on top even after accumulating 8 fatigue tokens!
…The fans loudly applauded both wrestlers. As Angle got to his feet first, in disbelief he stood with his straps down and hands on his hips. Backlund was slower to get up and as he did, Angle slowly walked over to him, hesitating before extending his hand. Backlund, exhausted and unsure of Angle's intentions, eventually reached his hand out and was helped off of the mat. The two shook hands in a great display of sportsmanship before Angle exited the ring.
Gordon Solie introduced Barry Windham and asked him about his first round match later tonight vs. Ric Flair. Windham said he has to be at his best when he's facing the dirtiest player in the game, and now that he's aligned himself with the Heenan Family, he's even more dangerous. Solie then mentioned the issues Windham has with Diamond Dallas Page who happens to be in the next match. Windham says Page is all about himself and the "Diamond Xchange or whatever he calls it" is just a promotional stunt to boost his own ego and bank account. He said he knows Jake Roberts possibly better than anyone and doesn't think for a second that Page has him in his best interests and he plans on exposing him.
2. Diamond Dallas Page & Razor Ramon b Billy Gunn & Ken Shamrock to advance to the CWF Tag Team Title tournament semifinals Ramon attacked Gunn before the bell and stomped away before Page joined in and continued the assault. Gunn managed to fight back and tagged Shamrock who applied a rolling kneebar on the overly confident Page who was able to reach the ropes. With their partners now in the ring, Razor dropped a series of elbows on Gunn but a lazy cover only got him a 2-count. Ramon argued with referee James Beard about the count, before Page tagged back in. The hesitation on DX's part allowed Gunn to come back with a big Power slam on Page but Ramon alertly made the save with a boot to the back of the head. Late in the match, Shamrock and Ramon double clotheslined each other but the "World's Most Dangerous Man" was able to recover first. He slowly made his way to the corner and tagged Gunn who entered the ring only to get dropped by a Machismo Choke Slam for another near fall. Ramon signaled for the RAZOR'S EDGE but Gunn chop blocked him. Shamrock immediately tagged in and trapped Ramon in the ANKLE LOCK. With Ramon in trouble in the center of the ring and the fans cheering, Page again made the save! Gunn tagged back in and drilled Page with a forearm to the back of his head sending him through the ropes. A bloody Ramon struggled to his feet but before Gunn could turn around, tossed him with a huge fallaway slam. Shamrock tried to make the save but Page grabbed his feet from outside of the ring allowing Ramon to score the pin on Gunn at 17:55.
The sound of Bagpipes echoed throughout the arena as Rowdy Roddy Piper was introduced by Cappetta. With a shit eating grin, the controversial Scot slowly made his way to the ring as the fans boo'd him. "The All-American" Ron Simmons was out next to cheers…
3. Roddy Piper b Ron Simmons to advance to the CWF Heavyweight Title tournament semifinals Piper stalled in the early goings and even threatened to leave the ring, frustrated with Simmons combination of power and agility. After some dirty tactics, Piper applied his SLEEPER but Simmons was able to easily fling him off. Simmons then lifted Piper to his feet but got an eye poke in return that temporarily blinded him. Piper then sent Simmons into the ropes, but the whip in was reversed and Simmons caught him bouncing off with a SCOOP POWERSLAM for a near fall. With the fans sensing a Simmons victory near, the All-American mounted himself on the second turnbuckle and delivered a flying shoulderblock but the momentum knocked Piper out of the ring and to the floor. Simmons followed Piper out and charged at him but Hot Rod moved out of the way and Simmons connected with the ring post. As Marella reached 9, Simmons pulled himself up by the ring apron to beat the count. Seeing Simmons groggy and half out of it, Piper once again applied the SLEEPER. Simmons fought it, even reaching the ropes with his boot, but Marella somehow missed it and Piper pulled him off and re-cinched the hold to put Simmons out for good at 22:39...
...Once he finally came to and made it to his feet, Simmons, still shaking the cobwebs was addressed by D'Lo Brown who had stepped out from the curtain with a mic in hand. "The offer still stands my brother", said the interim leader of the Playa'z Circle before turning and heading backstage. Simmons, resting against the turnbuckle just stared as if in deep thought, while the fans chanted his name.
4. The Midnight Express (w/Jim Cornette) b Rob Van Dam & 2 Cold Scorpio to advance to the CWF Tag Team Title tournament semifinals The fan favorites looked to be on a roll when midway through the match, Scorpio hit the Tumbleweed (the same move he beat Arn Anderson with last night) on Eaton, but Cornette had referee Morgan Dollar tied up. Scorpio & Van Dam then doubled up Eaton and sent him into the ropes but he bounced off with a clothesline to both. Condrey tagged in and executed a shoulder power slam on Scorpio for a near fall. Eaton re-entered the ring and delivered a slingshot backbreaker that looked to be enough, but Van Dam made the save at the last second. An Express double team attempt then backfired allowing Van Dam to hit rolling thunder on Condrey. Scorpio tagged in and quickly mounted the top rope and connected with the THE DISS THAT DONT MISS, wowing the crowd, but Eaton made the save without a millisecond to spare! Late in the match, a collision mid-ring after bumping heads put both Eaton and Scorpio down. Eaton made it to his feet first followed by Scorpio who appeared to have a bloody nose. While Dollar was busy keeping Van Dam in his corner, Condrey slipped in and the Express hit a Double Goozle on Scorpio allowing Eaton to score the pin in 15:12.
5. The Fabulous Moolah b Ida Mae Martinez to retain the World Women’s Championship Moolah showed the fans in the Capital Centre just why she's the longest reigning Women's champion in history. But it wasn't easy as the resilient Martinez took everything Moolah dished out. A BODY PRESS by Moolah couldn't keep the challenger down, so she went for the JACKKNIFE CRADLE but this time Ida Mae was too close to the ropes. Martinez got the crowd into it by mounting a brief comeback but it was short-lived when after Irish whipping Moolah into the ropes, the champion bounced off with another BODY PRESS, but again only getting a 2-count. An upset Moolah yelled at Martinez to stay down before executing one more JACKKNIFE CRADLE to get the pin at 10:45.
Intermission - As fans were returning to their seats, Cappetta made the announcement that Dan "The Beast" Severn had been added to tomorrow night's card. He was removed from the CWF Heavyweight Title tournament by CWF officials "to send a message' for his attack that put Road Dogg Jesse James out of action, but his manager Jim Cornette (after a phone call to his lawyer) was able to secure him a match and a payday. He will now face "Thriller" Mike Jackson.
6. The British Bulldogs b Mark Henry & D'Lo Brown (w/Jazz) to advance to the CWF Tag Team Title tournament semifinals The massive Henry along with Playa'z Circle front man (or general as he likes to be called) Brown had the early advantage before they mistimed a double team move and D'Lo got clotheslined instead and sent out of the ring. The Bulldogs staggered Henry with a series of running shoulderblocks before a double head butt crumpled the "World's Strongest Man" in the corner. Still unable to get the big man completely off of his feet, Dynamite tried a running clothesline but ran into a brick wall. Davey Boy ran in too but Henry lifted him up in a military press and slammed him to the mat before standing on him with nearly 400 lbs of weight. Brown tagged back in and hit a few moves before landing the Shakey, Shakey leg drop. The Bulldogs tag team prowess proved to be a bit too much however when Brown found himself on the receiving end of the TOWER OF LONDON. Henry tried making the save but took a running dropkick by Dynamite which allowed Davey Boy to score the pin at 10:57...
… After the match, Jazz who had been jawing back and forth with ringside fans the entire match got in the face of referee Bill Alfonso. Henry & Brown then joined in, backing the referee into a corner, pointing their fingers and threatening him. Joey Marella, James Beard and Morgan Dollar ran down to the ring to try and rescue Alfonso. When they too got bullied, 2 Cold Scorpio, Rob Van Dam & Trish Stratus (!) appeared, popping the crowd! They headed to ringside with intent, causing the Playa'z Circle to re-think their life as they backed off pretty quickly and left the ring area as the fans cheered for the good guys (and girl).
Gordon Solie tried to get a word with Diamond Dallas Page as he and Razor Ramon made their way to the ring for the next match. Solie asked Page about Windham's comments earlier on about his motives behind the Diamond Xchange and more specifically Jake Roberts. Ramon interjected, asking "can't you see Dally has an important match, chico?", before flicking his toothpick at the legendary announcer's chest…
7. Randy Savage b Diamond Dallas Page (w/Razor Ramon) to advance to the CWF Heavyweight Title tournament semifinals Clearly irritated by the accusations from Barry Windham regarding the integrity of his Diamond Xchange, Page was off from the outset. It was all Savage from the jump, taking Page down and connecting with his FLYING ELBOW SMASH. But Ramon, who was sporting a small bandage on his forehead from being busted open earlier jumped up on the ring apron distracting referee Joey Marella. This allowed Page to turn the tide with some underhanded tactics before hitting the DIAMOND CUTTER out of nowhere. Ramon at ringside (and most fans) thought the match was over and was shocked to see Savage kick out at 2! Savage managed to regain the upper hand and climbed back to the top turnbuckle. As Page picked himself up though, Ramon again jumped on the ring apron and grabbed hold of Savage's leg preventing him from leaping off. Savage kicked Ramon to the floor, but Page used the distraction to superplex the Macho Man to the canvas for another 2-count. Page screamed at Marella to count faster and grabbed Savage off of the mat by the hair, but found himself wrapped up in an inside cradle for a near fall. A ruffled Page, slipped under the bottom rope to get his bearings as Savage quickly mounted the top rope and flew off with a double axe handle sending him headirst into the guardrail. Savage tossed a now bloody Page back into the ring before climbing back up to the top rope. As he signaled for his finisher, Ramon again tried to intervene. But this time, Jimmy Valiant ran down to ringside and leveled the Bad Guy with a roundhouse punch, knocking his gold chain off in the process! Savage then flew off the top with his FLYING ELBOW SMASH and got the pin at 17:32...
…As Savage celebrated on the second turnbuckle, the Boogie Woogie Man strutted around ringside, now wearing Ramon's gold chain, slapping hands with the fans on his way to the back! Page and Ramon tried to gather themselves on the floor and process what the heck just happened...
...Before Cappetta could begin ring introductions for the next match, Ramon who along with Page had yet to leave ringside, snatched the microphone away. A fuming Ramon angrily said "hey yo, Boogie, you wanna steal my chain chico?" Page patted Ramon on his chest as if to say "settle down big man" before taking the mic and angrily saying "listen up Cap Centre". The fans booed heavily while Page told them to shut up. He then issued a stern warning to Jimmy Valiant, Barry Windham & Ronnie Garvin, saying if they keep poking their noses in the Diamond Xchange's business, someone's going to get hurt. He continued, "and just in case you morons forgot, me & Razor are still in the Tag Team tourn.... but before he could finish, the Road Warriors music hit, cutting his rant short as Hawk & Animal led by their manager Paul Ellering made their way to the ring…
8. The Road Warriors (w/Paul Ellering) b Steve Williams & Danny Hodge to advance to the CWF Tag Team Title tournament semifinals Coming off of their near 23-minute battle with Ted DiBiase & Mike Rotunda last night, Williams (and Hodge in particular) didn't seem to have much left in their tanks. The undefeated amateur Hodge didn't see a whole lot of action, leading fans and their opponent's to believe maybe he was nursing an injury. The fan favorites from Oklahoma however, did put up a valiant effort against the far fresher Legion of Doom with Williams matching the Warriors strength. After kicking out of an Animal POWER SLAM, jaws dropped moments later and even had Ellering at ringside remove his shades when "Dr. Death" somehow managed to kick out of the devastating DOOMSDAY DEVICE! The Warriors looked on in disbelief, before Hawk shook his head and picked a dead to rights Williams off of the mat. The 277 lb Hawk then bounced himself off the ropes and delivered a vicious running clothesline that nearly took off Williams head. Hodge tried making the save but got manhandled by Animal as Hawk made the cover and got the 3-count at 8:56...
...As soon as the bell sounded, Ted DiBiase & Mike Rotunda opportunistically hit the ring and started putting the boots to Williams & Hodge as the entire Capital Centre crowd boo'd. Hawk & Animal who had left the ring saw what was happening and after locking eyes with one another followed by a nod from Ellering, slid back inside the ring under the bottom rope and stunned the heels with a barrage of punches before sending them over the top rope with a pair of clotheslines! Just then, out of nowhere, LOUnacy, the Lou Albano led team of Gorilla Monsoon & Killer Khan attacked the Warriors from behind and all of a sudden all four teams were going at it. LOUnacy and the Road Warriors trading haymakers inside the ring, while a semi-recovered Williams & Hodge scrapped with DiBiase & Rotunda on the floor. Albano and Ellering nearly came to blows as well before order was eventually restored.
Cappetta stood in the middle of the ring for the main event and introduced Barry Windham first, who got some encouragement from Jimmy Valiant (now sporting Razor Ramon's gold chain) & Ronnie Garvin before they headed back through the curtain. The classical "Also sprach Zarsthustra" then hit the arena speakers and "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, decked out in a fabulous red robe made his entrance next, accompanied by his manager, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan…
9. Ric Flair (w/Bobby Heenan) b Barry Windham to advance to the CWF Heavyweight Title tournament semifinals The two longtime NWA rivals started hot and heavy with Flair winning a chop/punch (boo/yay) exchange at the bell. An early turnbuckle reversal by Windham however sent Flair flipping over the corner buckle and out to the arena floor. Windham followed Flair out but got a vicious kick to the kneecap and was then rammed into the steel steps. Back inside the ring, Flair climbed up top but Windham got to his feet and despite being in noticeable pain was able to slam the "Nature Boy" off with a crushing thud. The big Texan then delivered a flying dropkick that sent Flair out of the ring once again. Windham rolled out to the floor and without thinking followed up with an atomic drop that launched Flair into the ring post. Absorbing punishment to the same knee he appeared to injure earlier, Windham found himself back on the defensive. After using the ropes and delivering a couple of butt drops across Windham's leg, Flair applied the FIGURE FOUR. In excruciating pain, Barry tried to reverse the hold, but unable to he made a desperate lunge for the ropes causing referee James Beard to force a break. Flair stomped away at Windham's leg before tossing him threw the ropes and back out to the floor again. Heenan snuck in a few cheap shots to Windham's leg and nearly got himself ejected from ringside. Windham rolled himself back into the ring heavily favoring his injured leg. Flair climbed back up top and leapt off with an awkward cross body block that Windham was able to roll through for a 2 1/2 count that had the fans on their feet! Flair was up first however and clipped Windham's knee taking him back down to the canvas before re-applying the FIGURE FOUR. A bloody Windham screaming in pain hung on for as long as he could before he had no choice but to submit at 16:31..
…Windham slowly got to his feet but struggled to put much weight on his right leg. He tried walking it off but sat back down in the corner pained, shaking his head in frustration. Beard knelt down next to the fan favorite as Valiant, Garvin and a few other wrestlers came out to check on him. The fans chanted "BARRY-BARRY-BARRY!" as he was assisted to the back to close the show.
Wow, another card in the books and the fans were treated to some terrific matches, but none more so than the opener between Bob Backlund and Kurt Angle. Hopefully we'll see those two lock back up once again in the future because they absolutely tore the house down. Both tournaments are now down to the Final Four and tomorrow night right back here at the Cap Centre, we will see their conclusions and crown the first ever CWF Heavyweight and Tag Team Champions! Also, hopefully we'll get an update on Barry Windham's injury.

Wow! Night two was an intense show! I loved seeing the Playa’z Club re-examine their lives! Great exposition with just the right amount of humor—nice job! As for the matches themselves… Not as good a night for the heels this time around (Rudo! Rudo! Rudo!), but they got in some good wins, capped off by Ric Flair’s resplendent victory over Barry Windham. Poor Barry needs some direction—l’ll bet the Brain could help him sort things out. Of course, I almost missed that match because I was still feeling sick after that display of good sportsmanship in the opening encounter. Bleh! Angle is too good to be so…well… good. We need to dirty him up a little. Great card, Slymm! Can’t wait to see what happens on Night Three!
