Go Macho Man. Big win by the Crusher and Ilio with the nice upset. I am also hoping the Macho Man continues his solid run. There is upcoming title match that I have not decided who will be the challenger. Savage is going to be in the conversation for sure (provided Fenton does not get the best of him in their upcoming battles) along with the Bulldog and the Rowdy One.

I enjoyed the TV taping and much like the ones in my fed you can get some wild upsets like Sinn Bodhi beating The Crusher. Unexpected but fun as well and now Bodhi moves into title contention.

Card 27 Memorial Auditorium, Kitchener – January 17, 2023
Brian Blair v. Prince Kharis w/James Mitchell Referee: Morgan Dollar Morgan Dollar and Mitchell exchanged words and the official is clearly not impressed. Blair showed his agility off when he landed on his feet after a toss across the ring and then went right after his larger foe with three flying forearm smashes. Blair finally got the big man to the mat with an arm drag and twist and Kharis seemed disoriented as Blair executed an AIRPLANE SPIN/CORBA CLUTCH to wrap up his impressive debut in about five minutes. Winner: Blair *
“Rowdy” Roddy Piper v. Chaz Taylor Referee: Morgan Dollar Controversy continues to follow the Rowdy One. Taylor clearly wanted this to be a wrestling match and used hammerlocks and takeovers to keep Piper on the defensive. Piper came back with a bite to the forehead and then landed a back suplex and bulldog. More biting had the fans up in arms and the action went to the floor. Taylor had enough and rammed Piper’s skull into the ringside table. Suddenly, Dollar called for the bell and made a disqualification call after just six minutes. Winner: Piper by disqualification. *
Heavenly Bodies (Stan Lane & Tom Prichard) w/Jim Cornette v. Larry Hennig & Billy Red Lyons Referee: Morgan Dollar Cornette and Dollar get into it before the bell and the official appears shaken up. The Bodies were trouble early by the combination of Hennig’s power and Lyons’ speed as Lane ended up cut off from his corner for a stretch. The Bodies managed to regroup and their team work gave them the upper hand including a neck drop on top rope that slowed the attack on Hennig. It was back and forth but the Bodies kept going back to the double teaming to get out of trouble including a neck drop on top rope to Lyons and later a double suplex to Hennig. In the end, the Bodies caught Hennig with a FLAPJACK and scored the pin after what appeared to be a quick count by Dollar after 16 minutes. Winners: Bodies **
Texas Death Match – “Lightning” Rod Fenton v. “Macho Man” Randy Savage Referee: Morgan Dollar Savage was the aggressor from the bell but when the action spilled outside, a low blow from Fenton gave him the upper hand. Both men exchanged whips into the rails but Savage turned up the violence when he used a steel chair to smash Fenton several times in the middle of the ring. Savage then crushed his dazed opponent with a FLYING ELBOW SMASH for the three count after just five minutes of violence. Winner: Savage ** ½ Madison Rayne v. Rockin Robin Referee: Morgan Dollar The action was closely contested early on and then Robin managed to come out of the corner with a clothesline to take over the match. Robin used a Boston Crab to soften up Rayne and then hit her finisher BULLDOG but could only get a two count. Rayne managed to avoid getting in a position to get pinned for the balance of the match looking for an opening. She found one and caught Robin with a diving spear and scored the three count [snake eyes] after ten minutes. Winner: Rayne * ½
Jerry Lynn & Mikey Whipwreck v. Powers of Pain (Barbarian & Warlord) w/Mr. Fuji Referee: Dick Woehrle Whipwreck had his moments early on using he speed to get the best of Barbarian. Lynn kept the momentum going but Barbarian was able to catch him on the top of the corner and slam him to the mat. That the end of offensive for Whipwreck and Lynn and the Powers of Pain crushed Lynn with a running power slam, POWER HEAD BUTT, ELEVATED CLOTHESLINE and finally a second POWER HEAD BUTT for the win after about nine minutes. Winners: Powers of Pain. * ½
Tully Blanchard w/ J.J. Dillon v. “The British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith Referee: Dick Woehrle This was a classic. Smith thrilled the fans with his early power offense that had Blanchard on the run. Only the timely distraction from Dillon kept the action going after a RUNNING POWER SLAM. Blanchard was able to get control when he reversed a whip on the floor and sent Bulldog hard shoulder first into the post. Blanchard controlled and earned even more heat blasting Smith with a foreign object busting him open. Blanchard used a grinding chin lock to squeeze the crimson from his opponent. Back at ringside, Smith drew on the fans support and press slammed Blanchard into the ring. Smith appeared to have match in hand after another gorilla press slam but Dillon stepped onto the apron. Smith chased Dillon around the ring which allowed Blanchard to attack. Back in the ring, Blanchard landed a top rope sledge and then a SLINGSHOT SUPLEX for the controversial three count after 17 minutes of action. Winner: Blanchard *** ½ NWA Canadian Heavyweight Champion The Crusher v. Buddy Rogers Referee: Morgan Dollar, Dr. Mike Lano at ringside The Crusher had the fans solidly behind him as he looked to thrash the Nature Boy early. It was all Crusher and he had the fans roaring with a CRUSHER NELSON but Rogers managed to make the ropes. Rogers begged off before attacking the lower body. A jumping knee smash to the leg started the damage and Rogers went back to an attack on the leg several times during the match. Rogers applied his deadly FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE three times in a row but Crusher managed to make the ropes each time and the fans were out of their seats [BOXCARS TWICE AND A ROLL OF 11!] Crusher battled back despite his limited mobility and trapped Rogers in another CRUSHER NELSON but again the Nature Boy made the ropes. The action went to the floor and a chop block from Rogers sealed the fate of the champions. Back in the ring, Rogers landed a jumping knee smash to the chest and covered Crusher for the victory after 16 minutes. Winner and new NWA Canadian Heavyweight Champion Buddy Rogers. ****

I wasn't expecting The Crusher to lose the title so quickly but then again defending against Buddy Rogers could end up bad. That was an awesome match, though. Now I'm wondering if Sinn Bodhi will get a shot at Rogers based on beating the former champion in non-title action.
Fun card overall with the Davey Boy Smith vs. Tully Blanchard match, Randy Savage winning the Texas Death Match over Rod Fenton, and the impressive debut of Brian Blair.
