Depends on the cake or pie? Say a Victoria Sponge (Don't know if you have that in USA or its called something) cake v Apple Pie. Most probably a cake

For my last birthday, my mother-in-law asked me "cake or pie". I told her just to get some pizzas and put candles on one of them. I'm hoping that's the new birthday tradition.

Yea it is a close one. Depends on my mood. But the slight edge goes to cake.

I just watched Food Network Holiday Baking Championship and they had a pie v cake competition between the 12 contestants. They tied 3-3 with the pecan pie winning the tie breaking taste off

I went savory for a few years over cake/pie for birthday. Pizza was often it (until it became just as easy to have pizza whenever I wanted)
