YEAR ONE-FEBRUARY-NUMBER ONE CONTENDER TOURNAMENT
Hello again. Hope everyone is doing well. It’s time to determine my first batch of number one contenders for all of the championships. We’ll kick things off with the singles tournament. As a reminder Terry Gordy is my World Champion, Lou Thesz is the Intercontinental Champion and the U.S. Title is held by “Stunning” Steve Austin. If any of the three men finish in a position where they would be the number one contender to their own title they are free from defending it for the month AND they will be entitled to an automatic rematch when they eventually lose the belt.
Wrestlers were ranked based on their performance in my initial tournament and were re-seeded after each round so that the highest ranked wrestler left faced the lowest ranked wrestler left, second highest faced second lowest, so on and so forth.

The Road Warriors outlast the field and get the first shot at Thesz & Backlund; what a contrast in styles between those two teams! I was glad to see Hart & Savage have some success as they’re my two all time favorites. I’m hoping to make the most of this pairing as this will probably be the only game year in my fed where they’re teamed up together. I’ve recently acquired bootlegs for Jim Neidhart and Hulk Hogan so you’ll likely see The Hart Foundation and The Mega Powers as teams when I start Year Two.
Women’s tournament results coming soon plus my first Clash Of The Champions event. Until next time I hope everyone has a good day.

YEAR ONE- FEBRUARY - CLASH OF THE CHAMPIONS- NIGHT ONE:
1. UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: “STUNNING” STEVE AUSTIN (c) vs BARRY WINDHAM
Windham dominated the early part of the match. He managed five pin attempts after a sleeper, a suplex, two figure four leg locks and A LARIAT but Austin managed to kick out each time. The fight moved out to the floor and Austin won the ensuing brawl. He threw Windham back into the ring and got some steady offense going. He managed to land a STUN GUN but Windham was able to kick out. Eventually Windham regained control and after a suplex Austin was down for the three count.
WINNER AND NEW CHAMPION: BARRY WINDHAM
2. JUVENTUD GUERRERA VS DYNAMITE KID
Dynamite dominates the early part of the match connecting with a snap mare, a knee drop and a hooking clothesline. After a snap suplex he goes for a cover but Juvi kicks out. Dynamite follows up with a tombstone piledriver and Juvi bails out of the ring. He pulls Dynamite out and rams him into the ring post. Back in the ring Juvi hits Dynamite with a Juvi Driver but when he tries a lifting surfboard Dynamite is able to counter it.
Dynamite continues hitting Juvi with a snap suplex, another tombstone and goes for another pin attempt but Juvi manages to kick out. When Dynamite goes for a knee drop Juvi is able to roll out of the way. Juvi hits a springboard dropkick and covers Dynamite but he’s able to kick out. Guerrera follows up with an Air Juvi and covers Dynamite for the victory.
WINNER: JUVENTUD GUERRERA
3. SPECIAL ATTRACTION- LAVA PIT MATCH- COMRADE TERROR VS THE IRON SHEIK
We now go to Primus where Johnny Rocket is standing by with The Iron Sheik
Johnny Rocket: “Good evening ladies and gentlemen. I am here to get a few words with The Iron Sheik before he steps into the Pit with the Comrade. Sheik how do you feel about your chances in this most unusual match?”
Iron Sheik: “Mr. Rocket, you are clearly a very intelligent Intergalactic reporter which is why I grant you this interview.” “COMRADE TERROR, YOU NO GOOD ALIEN, CHUMP JABRONI. YOU HAVE THE NERVE TO CHALLENGE THE IRON SHEIK, FORMER WWF CHAMPION, TO LAVA PIT MATCH. LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING IT DON’T MATTER WHAT TYPE OF PIT I FIGHT YOU IN: LAVA PIT, MUD PIT, COW DUNG PIT, THE RESULT WILL BE THE SAME. TONIGHT, COMRADE TERROR, THE SHEIK WILL LOCK YOU IN THE CAMEL CLUTCH AND MAKE YOU HUMBLE. THEN I WILL CLIMB OUT OF PIT AND LEAVE YOUR BATTERED JABRONI CARCASS LYING DOWN BELOW!”
The Iron Sheik walks away.
Johnny Rocket: “Well folks, that’s nowhere near as bad as how he said he was going to humble Brian Blair. Let’s head to the ring.”
Sheik starts off on offense but Terror is quickly able to take control when he grabs some gravel off the pit floor and throws it in Sheik’s eyes. After a Terror Face Claw Comrade tries to climb out of the pit but Sheik manages to grab his leg and pull him back into the ring. Sheik locks Comrade into the Camel Clutch but all of a sudden one of the Primus natives throws a large rock into the ring and it smashes The Sheik.
Comrade picks up the large rock and smashes it onto Sheik’s head. He tries to whip him into the pit wall but Sheik is able to reverse it. Sheik follows up with a rock smash of his own but once again another Primus native throws a rock onto Sheik. Comrade connects with another Terror Face Claw and goes to escape the pit but the Natives kick him down.
Sheik locks in another Camel Clutch and follows up with another rock smash and some gravel to the eyes. Sheik tries to climb out of the pit but The Natives kick him back into the ring. Comrade piledrives Sheik onto the pit floor, whips him into the wall and smashes his face into a hot spot of the lava. Sheik screams in pain. Comrade blasts Sheik with an Atomic Warhead and tries again to climb out of the pit. This time he’s successful.
WINNER: COMRADE TERROR
4. LOW WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: PENNY BANNER (c) vs JAZZ
Banner wins the opening dice roll but Jazz is able to quickly counter when Banner tries a flying mare. Jazz hits Banner with an electric chair face buster and goes for the pin but Banner kicks out. Jazz follows up with a fisherman’s buster, locks in an STF and Banner taps out.
WINNER AND NEW CHAMPION: JAZZ
5. UNITED STATES TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: BLACKJACK MULLIGAN & MASKED SUPERSTAR (c) vs BRET HART & RANDY SAVAGE
Hart and Savage completely dominated the match from the get-go and absolutely destroyed Mulligan. Hart was able to quickly lock in the SHARPSHOOTER but Mulligan managed to escape. Twice, Mulligan bailed out of the ring but both times he lost a ringside brawl. Finally after a flying axe-handle and a FLYING ELBOW SMASH Savage put Mulligan out of his misery. Masked Superstar never even tagged into the match.
WINNERS AND NEW CHAMPIONS: BRET HART & RANDY SAVAGE
6. JACK BRISCO VS JERRY BRISCO
Jerry got off to a strong start and managed to lock Jack into a Figure Four LEGLOCK but he managed to escape. When Jerry tries a dropkick Jack is able to counter it. Jack is able to perform three ROLLING REVERSE CRADLES and a lateral guillotine but Jerry was able to kick out of all four subsequent pin attempts. After another lateral guillotine Jack was able to keep his brother down for the three count.
WINNER: JACK BRISCO
7. MAIN EVENT FOR THE WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: LOU THESZ & BOB BACKLUND (c) vs THE ROAD WARRIORS
Back and forth nearly the entire match with neither team able to gain an advantage. Finally, after Animal hits Thesz with a jumping elbow drop we get our first pin attempt of the match but Thesz kicks out. Thesz bails out of the ring but loses a ringside brawl to Animal. AnimAl throws Thesz back into the ring and tags in Hawk. Hawk climbs up to the top and The Road Warriors perform the DOOMSDAY DEVICE to get the victory.
WINNERS AND NEW CHAMPIONS: THE ROAD WARRIORS
A terrible night to be a champion as the challengers won all four title matches. Thesz and Backlund will have to put this loss behind them as they face each other for the Intercontinental Championship on Night Two. Randy Savage can’t afford to celebrate his title win tonight as he has to focus on his match tomorrow night with World Champion Terry Gordy. Jazz also can’t rest on her laurels as she and Sherri Martel will defend their Tag Team Titles tomorrow night as well.
All of that, and more, coming up on the second night of Clash Of The Champions. Results coming soon. Until then I hope everyone has a good day.

YEAR ONE- FEBRUARY-CLASH OF THE CHAMPIONS-NIGHT TWO:
Hello again. Hope everyone is doing well. Night one of my first Clash is in the books and it was certainly a dramatic evening with four title changes and a solid victory by Comrade Terror over The Iron Sheik in a Lava Pit Match. Let’s get going with night two.
1. SPECIAL ATTRACTION TAG TEAM MATCH: STARS & STRIPES (LOW) VS STARS & STRIPES (COTG)
American Guy starts off with the initiative against Del Wilkes but Wilkes is able to counter when Guy goes for a Peacemaker Slingshot. Wilkes connects with a forearm smash which puts Guy down. Wilkes shows some killer instinct and hits Guy with an UNCLE SLAM but he’s able to kick out. Wilkes isn’t done with him though as he tags in Marcus Bagwell. The two of them perform the STAR SPANGLED SUPLEX and American Guy is down for the three count.
WINNERS: STARS & STRIPES (LOW)
-We now go to Gordon Solie who’s standing by with the Lou Thesz.
Solie: “Lou, you’re about to step into the ring to defend the Intercontinental Title against Bob Backlund in a most unusual match: A Street Suicide match. How do you feel about being forced into such a violent encounter?”
Thesz: “Well, Gordon I’m definitely not happy about it. The promoter of this federation is clearly an evil bastard if he thinks that this abomination of a match constitutes wrestling. I’d much rather face my good friend and tag team partner, Bob Backlund, in a standard match to see who the better man is. I certainly don’t want to hurt Bob but at the same time the I-C Title means a lot to me and I’m going to do everything in my power to keep it. If that means I have to use an assortment of weapons on Bob then so be it. No matter what happens here tonight though I’m confident that Bob and myself can put it all behind us and focus on regaining those Tag Team Titles we lost to The Road Warriors last night.”
Solie: “Thank you for your time Lou and good luck in the match tonight.”
2. STREET SUICIDE MATCH FOR THE LOW INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP: LOU THESZ (c) vs BOB BACKLUND ( Two of the most technically sound wrestlers of all time. Let’s find out what happens when they’re forced to fight dirty)
A back and forth match early on with each wrestler going for a pin: Thesz after an airplane spin and Backlund after a vertical Suplex but both men are able to kick out. After some dropkicks by Thesz Backlund bails out of the ring with Thesz on his tail. They fight over a chain, which Backlund wins, and he bashes Thesz over the head with it. He throws Thesz back into the ring and continues his attack but Thesz is able to counter when Backlund attempts some wind-up forearms.
The fight eventually moves its way out to the floor again where Backlund whacks Thesz across the back with a Singapore Cane. He throws Thesz back into the ring and hits him with the ATOMIC DROP but only gets a two count. Out of frustration Backlund sends Thesz back outside the ring which proves to be a mistake as Thesz grabs a sledgehammer and drives it into Backlund’s midsection. Backlund eventually regains control of the brawl and sets Thesz on top of a garbage can but when he jumps off the ring apron Thesz moves and Backlund goes crashing down.
Thesz shows no mercy as he hits Backlund with a chain and then shocks him with a Lepus Stun Rod. Thesz grabs a Guttar Stick but Backlund is able to wrestle it away from him and he smacks Thesz over the head. Back in the ring Backlund throws Thesz into the turnbuckle but when he charges at him he gets a knee to the head. Thesz performs a THESZ PRESS but can only get a two count. The match moves it’s way back to the floor where Backlund gets the upper hand. He slams Thesz onto the announcers table, climbs to the top turnbuckle and drives Thesz through the table with a flying elbow drop.
Somehow Thesz is able to recover and he smashes Backlund again with the sledgehammer. He tries to hit Backlund again with the Guttar Stick but Backlund is once again able to take it away and hit Thesz with it. Backlund throws Thesz back into the ring, locks in the CROSSFACE CHICKEN WING and Thesz submits.
WINNER AND NEW CHAMPION: BOB BACKLUND
3. TIGER CONWAY SR. VS TIGER CONWAY JR.:
A back and forth match but Sr. was able to make the most out of his time on offense. Sr. managed to get Jr. in multiple pin/submission situations including a LET’S TWIST & HEAD BUTT. Conway Jr. would occasionally get the upper hand but was only able to get his Dad down for one pinfall attempt. Finally, after another HEAD BUTT Conway Sr. was able to pin his son for the victory.
WINNER: TIGER CONWAY SR.
4. SGT. SLAUGHTER VS DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE
Slaughter gets on offense first and attacks Page with multiple forearm hammers and military boot kicks. When he throws Page into the ropes DDP bounces back and hits Slaughter with a flying shoulder tackle. Page follows up with a discus clothesline and goes for the pin but Slaughter kicks out. The match goes back and forth for a bit but eventually Page is able to get some steady offense going again. Page connects with another discus clothesline and two Diamond Dreams. He goes for the pin after each move but can only get a two count each time. Not to be deterred Page executes a Russian Leg Sweep and this time is able to get the 1-2-3.
WINNER: DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE
5. LOW WOMEN’S TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: SHERRI MARTEL & JAZZ (c) VS FABULOUS MOOLAH & TONI ROSE:
Moolah absolutely dominated from the get-go and after a head scissors and a knee drop she hits Martel with a JACKKNIFE CRADLE. Martel is able to kick out and Moolah tags in Rose. After getting hit with another knee drop Martel bails out to the arena floor. Rose follows her out and a wild brawl breaks out. Rose is able to avoid the DQ but Martel isn’t as lucky. Rose and Moolah look at the referee in disbelief and anger for his decision as they win the match but not the championship. While I obviously would have preferred a decisive finish I was glad to FINALLY see a champion retain their title on this wacky two night event.
WINNERS BY DQ: FABULOUS MOOLAH & TONI ROSE.
6. VAMPIRO VS KONNAN
Vampiro nearly ends the match right away as he hits KONNAN with a suplex and follows up with a NAIL IN THE COFFIN but KONNAN manages to kick out. The match goes back and forth for awhile with too many counters to list here but Vampiro is eventually able to get some momentum going. He goes for two pinfall attempts after a superkick and a urange but can only get a two count both times. Vampiro follows up with a powerbomb and this time Konnan is down for the count.
WINNER: VAMPIRO
7. LOW WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: TERRY GORDY (C) vs RANDY SAVAGE
Gordy wins the opening dice roll and headbutts Savage before whipping him into the ropes. Gordy goes for a sunset flip but Savage grabs his legs for a pin attempt but Gordy is able to kick out. Savage follows up with a piledriver and an elbow to the head but when he attempts a rope straddle Gordy is able to counter it. Gordy hits Savage with a back suplex and then performs both a POWER BOMB and a BAMM BAMM SLAM but can only get a two count each time. Gordy locks Savage into the STF but Savage is able to escape and bails out of the ring with Gordy in hot pursuit.
At ringside Savage smashes Gordy onto the announcers table and is able to avoid the DQ. He throws Gordy back into the ring, climbs to the top rope and performs the FLYING ELBOW SMASH. Gordy is able to kick out but Savage goes back up to the top rope and hits Gordy with a flying axe-handle. Savage goes back for a third time but it’s one time too many as Gordy recovers and throws Savage off. Gordy BAMM BAMM SLAM’S Savage but Savage won’t stay down. Gordy hits Savage with a lariat and a Samoan Drop and that finally proves to be too much for Macho Man to take.
WINNER AND STILL CHAMPION: TERRY GORDY (His first successful title defense)
I hope you enjoyed my first Clash Of The Champions. Thank you to everyone who’s taken the time to check out my fed. Until next time I hope everybody has a good day.
