Sgt. Slaughter (28) v. Pepper Gomez (37)
Gomez frustrates Slaughter early with his agility and speed. FANS LOVE IT. Slaughter finally comes back with a fingernail rake the fans are all over him. GOMER! Slaughter with elbows, dropkicks and kicks with a military boot. Dropkick is ducked and Gomez controls with a wristlock. Slaughter goes the ropes . . . both go for a clothesline. Dollar counts, Gomez is up firstโฆ MEXICAN CRADLE. TWO!!! (R5/P3). Gomez with a stomach claw. Slaughter is rocked with shuffle punches. Gutbuster stops Gomez. Slaughter takes it outside. Tear it up. Back to the floor. Slaughter eats the ringside table. More shuffle punches but Slaughter hits a body slam. It is back and forth. Slaughter catches Gomez with a kick in the corner followed by a throat drop on top rope. Slaughter Cannon! Gomez to the floor. Slaughter smashes Gomez with a chair. HEAT! GOMER CHANT! Slaughter is irate. Back elbow drops Gomez. Slams and tackles from Slaughter. Gutbuster, Gomez bails. Riding crop choke! BOOOO! More brawling on the floor. COBRA CLUTCH. Regardless of the outcome, Sarge and Pepper put on a show... Great finish!
Hot Rod should have no problems with Grandmaster Sexay... Hoping the bookers don't think it's time for a sketchy DQ.

โRowdyโ Roddy Piper (5) v. Brian Christopher (60)
A row of bagpipers led the way for Piper. Christopher is not intimidated and scores with a dropkick and then sends Piper into the corner for a kick. Bulldog connects. Piper counters a power slam and executes his own bulldog. Piper with a figure four leglock that slows down Christopher further. Piper goes to work starting with an eye poke and ending with another bulldog. They battle on the corner and Piper kicks Christopher to the mat. SLEEPER. Christopher quickly backs Piper to the corner (R12/P4). Piper back to the eyes. Christopher with a standing leg drop to regain control. Another whip and kick to the corner. Power slam does not work and Piper lands a knee drop. Piper tosses Christopher outside. He crawls back in. Piper is ready with a SLEEPER for the win (R5/P6).
That wraps up the first half of the draw. The second half of the draw gets underway featuring last year's other finalist Lou Thesz.

Wicks has pulled off some shocking upsets for me but I don't see him beating Thesz. I've thought about teaming them since they both trained with Ed Lewis.
