The Iron Sheik has gone on to the wrestling ring in the sky. As if Twitter hadn't already been going down the hill over last few years it now loses one of it's best content providers. Back when I was on Twitter he was always a fun one to see his tweets. I guess it will be up to the rest of us to take care of all of the jabronis here on Earth. RIP

RIP to the Iron Sheik. As I said on Facebook tonight on the Filsinger Games Promoters page, the Iron Sheik was one of the first wrestlers who I knew about because he was on Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n' Wrestling cartoon and he appeared on the very first wresting show I attended at the Tacoma Dome in February 1986 in a tag team match with Nikolai Volkoff against Corporal Kirchner and Danny Spivey (I remember some of the adult fans in the crowd got Spivey confused for Hulk Hogan in that match.) Along with throwingtoasters and cman, I briefly met the Iron Sheik a couple of times the weekend of Wrestle Reunion 2010 in Los Angeles during which time I am seen in the background of a documentary they were filming about the Iron Sheik. A friend of mine sent me some photos of me in the background of that documentary and I shared one of those photos tonight in the Filsinger Games Promoters page (I am wearing a long-sleeved grey and brown UNLV shirt.) If I remember correctly, at the time, I was waiting in line to get my Iron Sheik card autographed which I have a photo of here on this post. RIP.  ) |

If you report he is alive or dead it is a gamble either way. Hopefully he is in good health and it is a long time before he appears in one of these threads.

(I was away on holiday last week) Iron Sheik we met him at Wrestleslam in 1990s in Manchester . Signed his Filsinger B&W card. He was former WWF Heavyweight champion but was wearing NWA Heavyweight title, as Koko B Ware like to tell/remind everyone . The 1970's Iran hostage crisis probably saved and kick started his career big time as a heel R.I.P
