Outlaw Wrestling Tournaments

[Demosthenes]

Every once in a while, I like running tournaments that do not affect my LOW feds. Sometimes these shows include bootlegs and call these shows "Outlaw Wrestling". I usually randomly select participants and I'll also throw in a random match or two that isn't included in the tournament. I ran a card early this week that I wanted to share.

Outlaw Wrestling (Cajun Wrestling Federation)
Grambling State Memorial Gymnasium

Attendance: 1,128

Promoter Note: Using AWA rules. For this tournament, that means the following:

1. When oppenent uses finishing move, roll on standard pin number.
2. When oppenent pins you when not using finishing move, roll on standard pin number.
3. Two pin break up attempts in tag team matches.
4. Managers get two interferences plus specialty interference if they have one.
5. Add 1 to each wrestler's DQ.
6. Roll on higher pin number for count outs.

Match 1: First Round Cajun Cup: Baron Von Raschke vs Tommy Gilbert
Tommy Gilbert pins Baron Von Raschke following brawling punches. Somewhat of an upset. Baron Von Raschke dominated the match, but was never able to keep Tommy Gilbert down. Tommy Gilbert takes 0 fatigue tokens to the semi-finals.

Match 2: First Round Cajun Cup: Jack Brisco vs Fritz Von Goering
Jack Brisco makes Fritz Von Goering submit in the lateral guillotine. The was basically a squash. Jack Brisco takes 0 tokens into the semi-finals.

Match 3: First Round Cajun Cup: Ray Stevens vs Randy Savage
Randy Savage defeats Ray Stevens by count out. This was a quick, back and forth match. The fighting went to the outside within a minute of the start of the match. Savage was able to beat the count back in while Stevens was not. Randy Savage takes 0 tokens into the semi-finals.

Match 4: First Round Cajun Cup: Brian Blair vs Scotty Riggs
Brian Blair makes Scott Riggs submit in the AIRPLANE SPIN/COBRA CLUTCH. This was unexpectly the best match of the first round. Brian Blair was clearly the favorite coming in, but Scotty Riggs put up a great fight, earning the respect of the Cajun crowd. Brian Blair takes 0 tokens into the semi-finals.

Match 5: Semi Final Cajun Cup: Tommy Gilbert vs Jack Brisco
Jack Brisco makes Tommy Gilbert submit in the Figure Four Leglock. Very, very quick match. Jack Brisco looks to be the favorite to win the Cajun Cup. He is fresh with 0 tokens going into the finals.

Match 6: Semi Final Cajun Cup: Randy Savage vs Brian Blair
Randy Savage pins Brian Blair following the FLYING ELBOW DROP. This was the best match of the night. At one point, Brian Blair had Randy Savage in the Cobra Clutch with Randy tapping. However, the referee was down due to errant cross body from Blair. Randy Savage survives this battle and takes two tokens to finals.

Match 7: Tiger Conway Sr. (hometown advantage) vs Mike Jackson
Tiger Conway, Sr. pins Mike Jackson following the LET’S TWIST & HEAD BUTT. The crowd was hot for their hometown hero in this squash match.

Main Event: Finals Cajun Cup: Jack Brisco vs Randy Savage
Randy Savage makes quick work of Jack Brisco, pinning him following the FLYING ELBOW DROP to win the Cajun Cup. Brisco was clearing the favorite, but Randy was a house of fire. The crowd was happy with the outcome, but disappointed by the length of the match.

I plan on running another Outlaw Wrestling Tournament tonight, this time using tag teams and WCW Rules. WCW rules the affect the tournament are the following:

1. When oppenent uses finishing move, roll on the standard pin.
2. When oppenent pins you when not using finishing move, roll on the advanced pin.
3. Three pin break up attempts in tag team matches.
4. Managers get two interferences plus specialty interference if they have one.
5. Add 1 to DQ.
6. Roll on standard pin for count outs.

The British Bulldogs dominate The Midnight Express. Dynamite Kid pins Bobby Eaton following a DIVING HEAD BUTT. Neither of the British Bulldogs taken tokens into the Semi-Finals.

Match 2: First Round Nightmare Cup: The Dream Team (with Jimmy Hart) vs Ted DiBiase and Stan Hansen
In a good fight, Ted DiBiase and Stan Hansen defeat the Dream Team by DQ when Brutus Beefcake hits Stan Hansen with a steel chair on the floor. Ted DiBiase takes 2 tokens into the Semi-Finals.

Match 3: First Round Nightmare Cup: Dutch Mantel and Bill Dundee vs BWO (Stevie Richards and Blue Meanie)
Dutch Mantel and Bill Dundee defeat the BWO when Bill Dundee pins Stevie Richards following the SUPERSTAR BOMB. Bill Dundee takes 2 tokens in into the Semi-Finals.

Match 4: First Round Nightmare Cup: Miracle Violence Connection (Steve Williams and Terry Gordy) vs The Sheepherders
In a violent match, The Sheepherders defeat Miracle Violence Connection when Butch Miller pins Steve Williams following a DOUBLE GUTBUSTER. This was after Luke Williams hit Steve Williams with a chair while the referee was distracted. Butch Miller takes 2 tokens into the Semi-Finals.

Match 5: Semi Final Nightmare Cup: The British Bulldogs vs Ted DiBiase and Stan Hansen
The British Bulldogs dominate Ted DiBiase and Stan Hansen as Davey Boy Smith pins Stan Hansen following the TOWER OF LONDON (Stan Hansen had 7 fatigue tokens). Neither of the British Bulldogs take tokens into the finals.

Match 6: Semi Final Nightmare Cup: Dutch Mantel and Bill Dundee vs The Sheepherders
The Sheepherders defeat Dutch Mantel and Bill Dundee by DQ when Dutch Mantel hits Butch Miller with his whip. Butch Miller takes 2 tokens into the Finals.

Match 7: Dick Hutton, The Spoiler, and Jackie Fargo vs the Love Brothers and Justin Credible
The Love Brothers and Justin Credible defeat Dick Hutton, The Spoiler, and Jackie Fargo when Jackie Fargo hits Rotten Reginald Love with Justin Credible’s kendo stick, causing a DQ. (Promoter Note: Now I am interested in running a Justin Credible vs Jackie Fargo feud).

Main Event: Finals Nightmare Cup: The British Bulldogs vs The Sheepherders
The British Bulldogs roll through the competition to with the Nightmare Cup after Davey Boy Smith pins Luke Williams following the TOWER OF LONDON. (Promoter Note: Neither of the British Bulldogs took a token the entire tournament!)

These are interesting rules.  How do you add fatigue tokens if you're using both pin styles in a match? Thanks in advance.

These are interesting rules.  How do you add fatigue tokens if you're using both pin styles in a match? Thanks in advance. 

I treat fatigue tokens as adding both to standard and advance pins. Essentially, for this set of rules, I treat finishers as much more likely to end the match than a level -3 or chart move.
