So, just a quick item I found out today that makes this game/fed more fun for me. I was looking at YouTube and found an interview with Dutch Savage. He was talking about growing up and graduating from Elkton High School in Elkton, MD.... which is the same high school I graduated from!!! Who knew he and I went to the same school? Obviously, he graduated waaayyy before I did, but he played football and ran track at Elkton. He even talked about running around in Newark, DE... which is a few miles away where we used to go to look for girls (home of the University of Delaware). Man, can't make this stuff up.

There are so many ways this tournament could go down... Personally, I'd mark out for Piper vs. Snuka in the final... But, it's a really level playing field and anyone could claim the gold... Can't wait!

Card 6 (NWA Pacific Northwest Heavyweight Tournament – Round 2)
Buddy Rose def. The Destroyer with a Bombs Away knee drop. In a shocker, Rose eliminates The Destroyer after a hard fought match. The Destroyer started of hot using submission holds on Rose. Rose continued to kick out or grab the ropes to break the holds. Later in the match, the tide turned, as The Destroyer kicked out of a pin attempt following a jumping back elbow. As The Destroyer tried to recover, Rose delivered the Bombs Away and got the quick 1, 2, 3... while grabbing the tights! Rose quickly left the ring as a dejected Destroyer stared in disbelief.
Dutch Savage def. Jimmy Snuka with his RUNNING PILEDRIVER! This match started off with Snuka hitting various power moves... piledrivers, power slams and flying headbutts, but Savage continued to kick out. Savage left the ring, followed by Snuka. Savage then surprised Snuka with a clothesline, tossed him into the ring and delivered his finisher. Snuka was left counting the lights as Savage sneered at the crowd. Wow, anything can happen in this tournament.
Curt Hennig def. Roddy Piper with the HENNIG PLEX! This was a quick and decisive match which saw Piper go on the offensive early. As Hennig struggled to keep pace, both men attempted a running clothesline and both men went down hard. Hennig got to his feet first and delivered a perfectly executed HENNIG PLEX for the win. Piper just shook his head and sat in the corner as Hennig celebrated. Both men eventually shook hands.
In the Main Event, Mad Dogg Vachon def. Pat Patterson with his PILEDRIVER! Patterson was overwhelmed in this match as he mounted no offense. Vachon was relentless hitting Patterson with a crushing backbreaker and a running knee life before knocking Patterson out with not one, but two devastating PILEDRIVERS! What a night. The fans are stunned by the turn of events this evening.
So fans, next week we will see TWO Main Event matches.... Curt Hennig vs Buddy Rose and Mad Dog Vachon vs Dutch Savage. The winners of these two matches will, in two weeks, battle it out for the richest prize in the Pacific Northwest... the NWA Pacific Northwest Heavyweight Title. Don't you dare miss it!

So was I. Booking vs dice? Dice win every time. Every time I think I have a good angle or feud, the dice somehow humble me. So, you get what happened earlier tonight. No worries though. It keeps the game fresh and the fed interesting. Still.... what could have been. Sigh.

Card 7 (NWA Pacific Northwest Heavyweight Tournament – Round 3)
The Grappler & Adrian Adonis def. Kiwi Sheepherders with GOODNIGHT IRENE! Grappler & Adonis worked well together, keeping Butch isolated and unable to make a tag. The Grappler wore Miller down and tagged in Adonis to apply his finisher. The tag team division is nothing if not unpredictable.
The Dynamite Kid def. Steven Regal by DQ after a chair shot. This match quickly got out of hand as Regal became frustrated with Dynamite Kid's relentless offense. Regal left the ring, grabbed a chair and layed The Dynamite kid out with a vicious chair shot. The referee had no choice but to disqualify Regal. Regal argued, but the match was over.
Buddy Rose def. Curt Hennig with a vertical suplex. Rose opened up the match by stalling and walking around the ring area. When the match was finally started, Rose took over quickly and hit a jumping back elbow which seemed to injure Hennig's back. A few moments later, Rose delivered a verticle suplex and pinned Hennig... Rose using the ropes for leverage. The referee never saw the infraction. The result stands, despite Hennig's complaints.
In the Main Event, Dutch Savage def. Mad Dog Vachon with a belly to back suplex. Easily the most competitive match of the night, both med had their chances. In the end, Savage hit a number of high impact moves to wear Vachon down. Savage punished Vachon, hit his belly to back suplex and got the win!
Fans, next week in the Main Event, Buddy Rose will face Dutch Savage for the NWA Pacific Northwest Heavyweight Championship. Two of three falls to a finish. No count out, no DQ. There must be a winner. Get your tickets soon before it's sold out. See you next week Portland...
