Even though these are probably (definitely?) the last two guys I would've predicted, it almost seems poetic that we're getting Dutch vs. Buddy for the belt... Very entertaining and I can't wait to see who wins!

Card 8 (NWA Pacific Northwest Heavyweight Tournament β Finals)
Hello fans and welcome to this special telecast of Portland Wrestling! Tonight we present to you the match that will crown the first ever NWA Pacific Northwest Champion. It will be Playboy Buddy Rose vs Dutch Savage in a 2 out of 3 falls match, no DQ, no count out and no time limit. We will stay on the air until a winner is declared. We have so many dignitaries here this evening including the NWA World Heavyweight Champion Harley Race! He is sitting ringside along with the NWA World Tag Team Champions, Jack and Jerry Brisco. So, sit back and enjoy this special presentation of Portland Wrestling. It should be a great match,
In the first fall, Dutch Savage def. Buddy Rose with a thumb to the throat and pin! This match started out with Rose on offense and Savage trying to withstand a flurry of knee drops and vertical suplexes. Savage went to the floor and quickly got the upper hand on Rose. Back in the ring, Savage used repeated stomps and a pair of belly to back suplexes to set up a devastating thumb to the throat. The count... 1, 2 and 3. Savage goes up 1-0.
In the second fall, Buddy Rose def. Dutch Savage with his INSIDE BACKBREAKER! This was a tough, hard-hitting fall with Buddy Rose hitting a jumping back elbow and his Bombs Away knee drop before catching Savage with his finisher. With both men spent, the fall are all even at 1-1. The winner of the next fall wins the title!
In the third and final fall, Dutch Savage def. Buddy Rose with his RUNNING PILEDRIVER to become the NEW NWA Pacific Northwest Heavyweight Champion! With both men worn down by the previous falls, the wrestlers circled each other looking for an advantage. Savage quickly body slammed Rose and poured the offense on. Sensing the match slipping away, Rose went to the outside to get a breather, only to have Savage bounce his head off the ring post. Savage tossed Rose back in, hit a big knee drop and then delivered a crushing RUNNING PILEDRIVER. The count... 1, 2......3! Savage rolled on his back and raised one arm in triumph! Rose laid there, utterly spent and dejected at the loss. The new NWA PNW belt was awarded to Savage, who knelt, hugging his new prize. NWA World Champion, Harley Race, entered the ring and raised Savage's hand in victory. Rose's tag team partner, Doug Somers, helped Rose to the back.
So there you have it fans... a new champion has been crowned! Next week we will have an interview from the new champion, as well as Buddy Rose. See you next week Portland.

Card 9
Interview: Dutch Savage entered the interview area, with the NWA Pacific Northwest Title belt around his waist. Savage looked angry and defiant tonight...
βIt's good to be.... ME. I am the champ. I am still the guy who would do anything to win this belt and I'll damn sure do anything and everything to keep it. Now Buddy Rose, I hear you want your rematch? Well, I'll name the time and place for the rematch. It's called champions prerogative pal. To everybody in the locker room, you want this?β Dutch takes off the belt and holds it out. βGet in line and come get it... if you can!β The fans boo loudly as Savage walks off.
Butch Miller def. Red Bastien with his RUNNING KNEE SMASH! Butch Miller dominated this match with goth high impact moves and bad luck. As Miller attempted a 2nd rope clothesline, he inadvertently knocked the referee out for a number of minutes. While the ref was out, Miller took advantage and hit a number of big moves on Bastien. As the referee regained conciseness, Miller hit his finisher and got the easy win. Tough loss for Red.
Pat Patterson def. Stven Regal with his BOMBS AWAY! Regal tok over early, hitting Patterson with a Russian leg sweep, a back breaker and other power moves. Patterson weathered the storm and regained control. Once worn down, Patterson hit a devastating BOMBS AWAY knee drop and got the win. Regal's losing streak continues.
Tommy Rogers def. The Destroyer with a power slam. The Destroyer looked βoffβ tonight as Rogers hit big move after big move! With The Destroyer weakened, Rogers caught him with a surprise power slam and got the win. After the match, The Grappler hit the ring and he and The Destroter delivered a crushing double clothesline! While down, The Destroyer slapped on his FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCH and refused to let the hold go. After order was restored, Rogers has to be stretchered to the back. Word is Tommy Rogers will mis 4 cards due to injury. Wow!
Interview: Playboy Buddy Rose strolled into the interview area...
βSavage, you bum. So you won't fight me? I'll get my rematch on YOUR Terms? Really? You better watch your back old man. You have a beating coming. You have MY belt. I'll take that belt from you and beat you down... all in the same match. Better make sure your health insurance is paid up. See you soon...β
In the Main Event, Roddy Piper def. The Grappler by DQ after a wild brawl outside the ring! This match quickly disintegrated into a pier 6 brawl! Both men left the ring and fought into the crowd. The Grappler used a chair on Piper and the referee quickly called for the bell. Both men had to be separated by officials from the back.
Well fans, that's all from Portland Wrestling tonight. Until next week, stay classy Portland!

So was I. Booking vs dice? Dice win every time. Every time I think I have a good angle or feud, the dice somehow humble me. So, you get what happened earlier tonight. No worries though. It keeps the game fresh and the fed interesting. Still.... what could have been. Sigh. Spoiler Alert - My upcoming Muchnick Cup goes the same way. I event arranged first round matches hoping for a specific pair in the finals.

I event arranged first round matches hoping for a specific pair in the finals. Here's something that I've started doing whenever I play a tournament -- I play the opening round matches FIRST and THEN I arrange the order. My logic is that the promoter (me) and the bookers (dice) should be having regular meetings in order to figure out how an event is going to proceed. Of course, it's impossible to coordinate the following rounds, but this method has worked quite well for me.
