The LOW team is back! They answer some questions brought up on this Discussion Board by Grant Baccioco ( throwingtoasters) and TTX! Then in this week's main event, the team takes a deep dive into Tim's WWWF '77 bootleg set! They go into the research that went into it, statting the cards, cards that eventually became official, the work on the handbook, Tim's versions of the cards for Superstar Pro Wrestling, and more! If you've never seen Tim's stats before, head on over to the "It's Up to You, Promoter!" section of the board! Find out what these videos have to do with this episode! Thanks for answering my question. I agree with what was said and I brought it up because a lot of people were throwing out some guys where I'm like, it's pretty much the same guy or that we don't every guy in their youth.

Some thoughts and responses as I listen... I feel like Terry Funk would 100% be justified having 3 cards--NWA Champion, "middle aged and crazy," and ECW. The middle card wouldn't just be for the WWF, but his legendary '89 run, thus satisfying '80s WWF fans and also old-school wrasslin' fans. But the ECW moonsaults-off-balconies Funk was different enough, too. Like, I'd buy a Terry 3-pack. Dory...yeah, he just needs one. Use the Coming Out of Retirement Chart if you want to do a match with Hoss or '90s Dory. Misawa...honestly, I think you could get post-Tiger Mask Misawa onto one card. Once he added the Emerald Flowsion in the late '90s I don't recall him adding a lot of new moves, as he really started breaking down physically in the '00s. The regular Tiger Driver could be a Level 3 move or maybe an "Add 1," which then does what it eventually did in real life which is put away lower-card guys but would need multiple tries or something "bigger" as a follow-up to put away main eventers. The fact that COTG matches can end on non-finishers more than in modern wrestling helps things out a bit. Whatever decision is made on Sullivan, I agree that we need to stick with two cards--Evil Sullivan and '70s Sullivan. I'm just partial to the Florida Sullivan because the act was fresher, he was in better physical shape, and the facepaint look would pop more in color, in my opinion. I remember the "Uncivil War" and still have the rules somewhere, but I don't think it was Stephen Share's. It was intro'd at a Con at a time when Share was around, but I want to say it was somebody else. (Share did have the greatest bootleg COTG collection that never got any kind of wide release.) I know, I know...'89 NWA is like 90% done. In fact it's been done for so long that I now have to take out a card for Ranger Ross and possibly 1 or 2 others because they've become official. And you did some work for me by adding Towel-Throw-In rules which will come in handy for ThunderDome. The bigger hang-up for me now is the black-and-white look is outdated--I don't think Legends had gone full color when I started. 1990 has not started yet though I do have a list of cards to be made. Actually I have a list of cards all the way up until '94, Tim-spreadsheet-style but not as extensive, but who knows if I get that far. ('95 is an absolute hard cut-off because that's when Nitro starts and the roster really explodes.) But yes, that Scorpion card is a bastard--not just writing the card regardless of how brilliant Chad's idea may be, but documenting all the sh*t that happened throughout 1990. ("SEPTEMBER - The Scorpion's latest act involves kidnapping a fan and turning them into a leopard--..." I feel sick just writing that out.) Witchi's was the home arena of tape-trader semi-legend John McAdam, who wrote about it a lot, so I actually knew about that one. They ran almost every week unless they ran the Providence Civic Center (North Attleboro is a suburb of Providence). (Re: the Hussein Arab tangent) Oh, God forbid we "go down a path" of '70s WWWF wrestlers on a '70s WWWF card set-related podcast. Grant's new letter-opener reminds me of Krusty the Clown's method for scratching off tickets. And that's about it. A fun show as always.

I really enjoy the episodes involving the thought process behind cards and sets. I agree with really only releasing multiple cards if something really changes with the person in question, that way it will free up spots for someone who might have gotten squeezed out of a release. I think itโs warranted in a situation like the Tyler Black/Seth Rollins example because Chris Hero was a name I thought of because his style ending up changing so much later in his career.
I think for slight tweaks, itโs valuable to use the boards to get suggestions from the community if you want something tailored to an idea you want to run in your fed. Good stuff, guys. I agree that Tim & Peteโs year sets are great for a Strat type of replay.

Of all the wrestlers that have color cards in the game (Legends or Indy), Jon Moxley is the one that I feel desperately needs an update... AJ Styles, Bryan Danielson, Tyler Black, Jay & Mark Briscoe, Christopher Daniels... Arguments could be made that guys like these (and many more) deserve to be part of the Legends brand... But in all honesty, they all have indy cards that can hold their own against most of the Legends... Moxley, on the other hand... Hmmmm, I think not. There are others that I might put in this boat as well - Drew Galloway and Tommy End instantly come to mind. But, in cases like these, I think waiting is probably more prudent because it's possible they have more to accomplish than what we've already witnessed. I'd also love to see a special edition Brodie Lee card someday... Assuming that all the proper permissions are in place for something like that to happen. And then there's good, ol' DDP... The one mountain upon which I'm prepared to die. LOL! Seriously though, it's never been about the stats for me... I think Cory Olson was right and his CAC card is pretty much where it should be ( pikemojo might school me on this statement and I would happily defer to his expertise on the subject)... However, I cannot think of one other Legends card where the artwork does not represent the wrestler in pretty much the prime of their career. Conversations like these remain one of my favorite aspects of this community... Thank you to all the hosts of Uncharted Territory for constantly opening these doors, sharing their own points of view in the process... Always nicely done!
