Promoter's Notes: I've had a long, complicated history with running feds. Something always seems to derail my playing time, or my ability to play... at all. The most recent derailment involved kidney failure with two weeks in a hospital and five weeks in a nursing home learning to walk again (and other things). I have time, and a strong desire to get back into it, so I figured why not bring back the fed I recall with the most fondness: New Era Wrestling. It was the first fed I ran that went over a year (both in real life and in terms of cards played) and it made me feel pretty good to have had so many of my fellow promoters reading it and commenting. So, it's coming back. I'm really looking forward to this and can't wait to share my results. Thanks for humoring me with this little rant.
New Era Wrestling will air one television show per week, with four supercards spread over the year. Four championships are up for grabs in New Era Wrestling: NEW Heavyweight Champion, NEW Tag Team Champions, NEW TV Championship, and the NEW Women's Champion. The TV title will be defended on every other show (and the supercards).
The New Era Champions, as of the first card, are the following grapplers:
NEW Heavyweight Champion: Nick Bockwinkel
Bock secured the big gold belt after a hard-fought tournament final. He matched up with "Macho Man" Randy Savage and didn't really fare too well in the early stages of the match. Just when things looked darkest for Bockwinkel, some perfectly timed interference from Bobby "The Brain" Heenan turned the tide. In the end, it was Bockwinkel getting his hand raised in victory.
NEW Tag Team Champions: The Miracle Violence Connection ("Doctor Death" Steve Williams & Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy)
The tournament finals came down to the Midnight Express (Condrey & Eaton) and the team of Doc and Bam Bam. The Midnighters fought a hard road to the finals, managing to eke out wins against some of the toughest teams in the sport. Williams and Gordy, on the other hand, totally ate up their competition. The final match for the titles was no different.
NEW TV Champion: Austin Idol
Idol met "Ravishing" Rick Rude in the tournament finals. By the end of the match, both men were battered and bloody. The end came after a brawl on the outside left Rude unable to beat the referee's count.
NEW Women's Champion: Sherri Martell
Sensational Sherri went through the competition like a buzzsaw. It almost looked like she never even broke a sweat.
The first card of this new version of New Era Wrestling is coming soon.
