Ohio Wrestling
Year One, Card #1
Louisville, Kentucky
-Commissioner Teddy Long welcomes the fans to Ohio Wrestling. He promises them that OW will provide great wrestling action to the Ohio Area. He is then rudely interrupted by “Nature Boy” Buddy Rogers. Rogers tells Long the only reason this run down part of America will see great wrestling is because of him! He goes on to tell Long there is no need for any tournament to crown OW’S champion, as he is right here and no one can hold a candle to his greatness. This brings out Marty Jannetty. Jannety tells Rogers that he will not let him bring Ohio Wrestling down with his scheming ways. As both men are ready to come to blows, Commissioner Long informs both men that they will get a piece of one another in the main event of the next card, and it will be a falls count anywhere match! Rogers is left infuriated, as Jannetty plays to the fans.
-The Destroyer defeated Nikolai Volkoff via Figure Four Leglock
Match Rating: 1/2 *
Fatigue: Volkoff 1
Notes: The Destroyer worked over Volkoff’s knee throughout the match. This left Volkoff vulnerable when Destroyer slapped on the Figure Four Leglock. Volkoff was in so much pain, he tapped out in short order.
-Bobo Brazil defeated Harley Race via Coco Butt
Match Rating: *** 1/2
Fatigue: Race 5; Brazil 2
Notes: Brazil had Race in trouble in the early going of this match. Larry Hennig came out to assist Race which allowed Race to turn the tide as Brazil’s focus was divided. As the dirty tactics came into play, out came “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan to even the odds. He whacked Hennig with his two by four and chased Hennig to the back. This was to the dismay of Race, as Brazil recovered and was able to stun Harley for the win.
-Dream Team defeated Gorgeous Ambition via clothesline
Match Rating: ***
Fatigue: Beefcake 3; Valentine 3; Heenan 4
Notes: The team of Gorgeous George and “Pretty Boy” Bobby Heenan used their underhanded tactics to keep the Dream Team off balance. Late into the match, Cherie Dupre got caught by referee, Morgan Dollar raking Greg Valentine’s eyes. She was then abruptly sent to the back, and this turned the tide for the Dream Team. They were able to isolate Heenan, and a powerful clothesline by Brutus was enough to put Heenan away and score the win.
-“Macho Man” Randy Savage defeated “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka via knee drop
Match Rating: *
Fatigue: Snuka 2
Notes: Savage was all over Snuka in this match. Savage had Snuka rolling, and he never recovered. Savage was able to hit a double axe handle to the outside on Snuka, then rolled him back into the ring and stunned him for the win. After the bell, both men continued to brawl as this match did not do enough for these two men. The security team was needed to break these two men apart, as they are not done with one another!
-Bill Apter is in studio and he presents a trophy to Lou Thesz in recognition of his skills in professional wrestling. As Tragos is a legend, and one of the most knowledgeable hookers in the world. Thesz concludes by saying without Tragos he would not be here!
-Road Warriors defeated Perfect F’N Show via Doomsday Device
Match Rating: 1/2 *
Fatigue: RVD 1
