Working on Commissioner Chad Olson charts for Impact Pro fed

Mr Chad Olson has received a big promotion in my Impact Pro indy fed... From ring announcer to commissioner! As the subject line implies, I'd like to make a couple of special charts for very specific scenarios and I'm asking for input from my friends and fellow promoters.

If you want to be realistic, this should rarely happen, as renting a cage is really expensive!

It might be possible to purchase a slightly used, recycled aluminum cage at a discounted rate in order to save on rental fees. We can still call it 'steel'... No one will know.

- The commissioner upholds the decision, but feels the referee might have been too quick to call for a disqualification. The challenger will have to earn a rematch by defeating another top contender.

This might be an opportunity where we bring in a big outside star, like a Bob Holly, Perry Saturn, or Colt Cabana.

Talk about blowing the budget... HOLY SNAP! I was thinking more along the lines of Prince Kharis. HA! Seriously though, I love the idea of bringing in someone for a single appearance and then granting them a title shot if they defeat the top contender.

- The commissioner is not impressed and states the champion took the easy way out. He strips the title from the current champion. The title is now vacant and a new champion needs to be crowned in some manner. IT'S UP TO YOU, PROMOTER!

IPW owner Troy Peterson is a huge fan of tournaments. He would book them in study hall when we were growing up, so a tournament would be the most "IPW" way to go!

This is perfect insider info... Though I was leaning towards a Scaffold Battle Royal... I hear the new commissioner is a big fan of those!

The second chart will be rolled on whenever a title change of any kind takes place... Some outcomes could be:
- The commissioner decides that the referee was careless (perhaps the champion had a foot on the ropes or it was a fast count) and the match is declared a no contest. The title is returned to the defending champion and the change is stricken from the record.
- The commissioner upholds the decision, but says the defending champion has reasonable grounds for a protest. He announces that a Best of 3 Falls rematch will settle this matter once and for all.
- The commissioner upholds the decision while stating that he does not want to see the title picture turn into a game of ping pong. As a result, the former champion will not receive an automatic rematch in order to give other top contenders a chance.

In my opinion, the most "indy thing" to do would be make the rematch a three way or scramble type match, with the champion, former champion, another top contender, and/or an outside star.

What are your thoughts on title matches where the champion does not have to eat the fall in order to drop the title? I rarely put champions in that kind of predicament, but I think I could definitely make an exception for cases where the champion lost their previous defense via disqualification.

Any ideas? Suggestions? Feedback? All are appreciated... Many thanks!

Yeah, we're in really good shape for Legends... Commissioner, Referees, Announcer, Interviewers... And Piper's Pit, of course!

We've got some cool indy enhancement cards too, but we're severely lacking in the promoter/commissioner department... The Dave Marquez card that throwingtoasters released some time ago is really great (in fact, I use that in my Legends fed as well - just substituting Marquez for Teddy Long)... But, I'm gonna have fun working on these charts... In fact, my lunch hour begins in 90 minutes and I think I'll do some work on it then.

Renting a cage is expensive? Like how expensive? Much more than renting a bounce house? If so, make the automatic rematch inside of a bounce house. You could reap back some of the cost by charging the younger fans to go in and play in the bounce house after the matches are over. <big grin>

One steel cage costs about as much as a couple of the guest stars I mentioned previously.

We don't run in buildings tall enough for a scaffold, most of the time. I guess that could be on the "All is Fair" tour. We've had bar shows where there's a "don't come off the top rope because you'll hit your head".

Re: champions losing their title without taking the pinfall. I do think that is a good way to change the title if you want to have the former champion challenge for a rematch and enter a program based on them not losing a fall. If it's a way for someone to avoid getting pinned/submitted, then I'm not a fan. Just my opinion.

Here's what I've got so far... My charts usually remain in a constant state of evolution, so nothing here is etched in stone... And I will definitely make adjustments as new ideas come to mind or get presented by others.

When a title changes hands, roll 1 die. EVENS: The decision stands and a new champion is crowned! ODDS: Commissioner Chad Olson makes an appearance and something is going down!

2-4: Commissioner Olson determines that the referee was careless (perhaps the defending champion had a foot on the ropes or it was a fast count) and declares this match a no contest. The title is returned to the defending champion and the title change is stricken from the record. The competitors will meet in a rematch in the near future to settle this matter and to ensure there is a satisfactory finish, there will be a special guest referee! Who will wear the stripes? It's up to you, promoter!

5: Commissioner Olson declares the finish was invalid because of circumstances leading to the outcome. (This could be due to outside interference or an oversight by the referee. It's up to you, promoter!) He orders the match restarted! The challenger gets the jump on the defending champion and starts on Level 3 Offense.

7-8: Commissioner Olson upholds the decision, but due to a sketchy finish, he feels the defending champion has reasonable grounds for a protest. As a result, the new champion's first title defense will be against the former champion in a Best of 3 Falls match in order to settle this matter once and for all.

9: After a lengthy discussion with the referee, Commissioner Olson announces that the decision stands. The newly crowned champion seems a little irritated that their celebration was cut short and decides to let Commissioner know about it. Commissioner Olson is not impressed and informs the new champion that their next scheduled title defense will be a Fatal Four Scramble! The participants will be the new champion, the former champion, another top contender and a star making a guest appearance on the card!

10: After a lengthy discussion with the referee, Commissioner Olson announces that the decision stands. This causes the former champion to throw a tantrum. They call Commissioner Olson a series of derogatory names while trashing the ringside area. Security is needed to remove them and Commissioner Olson decides they will be suspended and will not receive a title rematch anytime in the near future. (Roll 1 die for length of suspension. How long until they are eligible for a rematch? It's up to you, promoter!)

11-12: Roll 1 die. EVENS: Commissioner Olson simply wants to congratulate the new champion! ODDS: Before Commissioner Olson can explain his arrival, he is ambushed by several members of the ring crew! They are not happy with their current working conditions and have decided that starting tomorrow, they are on strike. As a result, the next card will be cancelled. Fortunately, Commissioner Olson works day and night until the matter is settled and the regular schedule can resume on the card following the next.

When a defending champion loses via disqualification, roll 1 die. EVENS: The decision stands and the champion retains. ODDS: Commissioner Chad Olson is not satisfied with the outcome and he's going to let everyone know about it!


2-4: Commissioner Olson is not satisfied with the outcome and orders the referee to restart the match! In addition, he announces that it will be a No Holds Barred match and no one will be permitted at ringside. He posts extra security to ensure that there is no interference whatsoever! All fatigue tokens are carried over. Roll to determine which wrestler starts the match on Level 1 Offense.

5-6: Commissioner Olson thinks the defending champion took the easy way out, but cannot argue with the decision. In order to settle this matter once and for all, he announces that the challenger will receive a rematch for the title inside a Steel Cage!

7-8: Commissioner Olson upholds the decision, but thinks the referee might have been too hasty in making such a call. As a result, the challenger will have to earn a rematch opportunity by defeating a star making a guest appearance before the current champion's next scheduled title defense!

9-10: Commissioner Olson upholds the decision, but thinks both men were cheated out of a clear finish. As a result, he declares that a rematch will take place. His announcement is interrupted by the arrival of another top contender, who feels they have been waiting long enough for a title shot. After some careful consideration, Commissioner Olson agrees. Therefore, the next title match will include the current champion, the challenger who won this match and the wrestler that just arrived to voice their objections. It's a Triple Threat!

11-12: Commissioner Olson is not impressed and accuses the champion of intentionally sabotaging the match in order to hold onto the gold. He strips the title from the current champion and the title is declared vacant! A new champion must be crowned. Roll 1 die to determine how this will happen. 1-3: TOURNAMENT! Consider an opening round bye for the former champion and/or the challenger that just won the match. 4-5: LADDER WAR! This contest can feature as many competitors as the promoter thinks is appropriate. 6: SCAFFOLD BATTLE ROYAL! We'll raise the roof of the venue if we must. Oh, yeah. You know it!

If the building does not have high enough ceilings get one of those scaffolding on wheels. The danger that is lost by only being a couple feet off the ground is made up by the fact it is on wheels. Scary. Weeee. Scare. Weeee.
