The James Gang just knocked off the 'Roos - who had to be considered one of the favorites to win the tournament... WOW! They were one of my early favorites as well! Very surprised at how well James Gang works as a unit. As always, thanks for stopping in! |

Jack and Jerry Brisco vs The Fantastics
Joey Marella is the referee for this match. Bobby Fulton and Jack Brisco start this match off. 3 moves in, Fulton tries a back body drop, but Jack catches him with a piledriver! Jack follows this up with a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK! Jerry cuts Tommy Rogers off trying to make the save, but Fulton survives and gets to the ropes.
Jack hits a dropkick right to the nose of Fulton, and covers, but Tommy successfully breaks up the pin attempt. Fulton crawls to the corner for a tag out to Rogers. Jack hits Tommy with another quick dropkick, and gets a near pin on Rogers (p3r5). Tag to Jerry. Tommy climbs to the top turnbuckle to try and mount some offense, but Jerry throws him down hard into the ring! Jerry locks in FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK (p6r6) and Tommy has no choice but to submit.
Winners, and advancing: Jack and Jerry Brisco

The Briscos never do much for me but I'm pulling for them now until they run into the Bulldogs.

Doug Somers and Buddy Rose vs Don Kernodle and Sgt. Slaughter
James Beard is the referee for this matchup. Slaughter and Somers start the match in the middle of the ring. Slaughter asserts himself early offensively, as he clamps on the COBRA CLUTCH! Buddy Rose in to break that up, though. Both man brawl outside, back inside the ring, Somers hits an elbow smash, followed by a quick pin (p2r9) that Slaughter kicks out of easily.
Somers connects hard to Slaughter with a big back elbow out of the ropes. SOMERS SUPLEX (p4r10), Slaughter able to kick out. They're fighting outside the ring again, Somers, loses his temper, and slams Slaughter through the announce table! Beard calls for the DQ!
Winners via disqualification, and advancing: Sgt. Slaughter and Don Kernodle
*Note* Did roll the DQ twice, per instructions while using James Beard. Hate to see a DQ end it, just as Somers was battling back. Kernodle and Rose did not get a tag in during the match.
