I remember a Vida Blue grand slam home run in All-Star Baseball. Great for basic game play, but there was no pitcher influence that I can remember. Tried SOM but found it too cumbersome. Never got into any other C&D sports game and ventured to the computer. Micro League Baseball, Ernie Harwell's Broadcast Blast, and now DK Sports.

Started with Strat, moved on to APBA, finally played History Maker Baseball, which is the best of the bunch. ā¾

Great episode! Have tried several of these different baseball games myself always thought Pursue the Pennant was probably the game I would have played if I never played Strat-o-Matic.
Still playing in 2 different Strat baseball leagues a 1993 draft league with 7 guys I grew up with and I have a Dynasty league with current players Iām in. We have our rookie and free agent draft in 2 weeks.

I played a number of tabletop baseball games when I was growing up - Most notably, APBA and Strat-O-Matic... And since there was some talk about this particular season, I just want to go on record that 1983 is still my favorite MLB season of all-time... The Baltimore Orioles have been my favorite team since 1982 (I was nine years old at the time and it was a rather spontaneous decision that I made while watching a game with my grandfather)... I remember being very happy when they won the World Series.

Pariah --Game 5 of that World Series was the first one I attended in person. Me and my dad were in the next-to-last row of the upperdeck (700 level) in center field beneath the huge Phanavision screen. As a Phillies fan, it was brutal. Eddie Murray and Mike Schmidt were both struggling in that series, but Murray righted himself that day launching two bombs off Charlie (not Charles yet) Hudson, with one of them shattering a bunch of bulbs on the right-center field scoreboard. We left after the 8th inning so we wouldn't have to watch the Orioles celebrate on "our" field (at least, that was the excuse ... my dad hated traffic).

Question for the gang
When designing level 3 offense for wrestlers, especially upper level wrestlers, how do you decide if the first move on level 3 offense is: A: level 2 unchoiced B: level 2 choiced C: level 3 choiced D: chart
Thanks for any thoughts into it.

I once spent a clinically insane amount of hours doing research into how to effectively finish the lost 1994 season, including inputting stats for minor-league call-ups in September (and yes, I called up Michael Jordan to be a PR/OF replacement for the White Sox), going through newspapers.com to see what tentative plans I could find for specific teams, and taking care of details like moving the Mariners into Cheney Stadium in Tacoma (1994 was the year that roof tiles fell off the top of the Kingdome). The Indians ended up upsetting the loaded Montreal Expos in 5 to win the World Series. I remember 1994 in Seattle. After the roof tiles fell in the Kingdome, the Mariners had to spend weeks on the road until the season was called off due to the strike. How many home runs did Ken Griffey Jr. end up hitting in your finished 1994 season?

I finished listening to this episode today.
I never really played any baseball games, but I can agree that the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum is definitely worth visiting in Kansas City (I went there in 2018 on my way to Waterloo for that year's Tragos/Thesz Hall of Fame Weekend.)

How many home runs did Ken Griffey Jr. end up hitting in your finished 1994 season? Only 55--Cheney was much less accommodating to hitters than the Kingdome. Griffey ended up 1 behind Frank Thomas in the AL, but the Giants' Matt Williams crushed 65. Besides the run of the Expos, another forgotten storyline wiped out by the strike was Tony Gwynn's chase for .400, the last realistic chance at that mark to date. Sadly he fell off pretty badly in the last month and a half and finished at "only" .363.
