Hello, This is my 1st post as a new LoW gamer (just received my goodies in the mail a few days ago). I am anxious to get going and think I have come up with a decent plan to handle the vast inventory (in the 250 range) of wrestler cards I have between Fislinger direct purchases as well as Boots from this forum. My plan is to use a World Cup style format with 32 wrestlers in each to crown a series of Champions. At the moment I am thinking of the following belts: - Super Heavyweight
- Far East
- European
- International
- World Champion (would be my main belt)
- Intercontental
- Tag Teag
The 32 Super Heavyweights have been selected, ranked and placed into their respective pools. Rankings are below. The rankings are a combination of Rahl, ELO and personal preference. I tried my best to have them be as accurate as possible.
Pool A is the 1, 32, 16 and 17 seeds. B would be 2, 31, 15 and 18. And so on.
I will be posting updates after each Pool round is completed. The top 2 wrestlers from each pool will advance to a 16-team single elimination bracket with the champion to be determined by the best of 3.
1 Andre the Giant
2 Gorilla Monsoon
3 King Kong Bundy
4 Big John Studd
5 Giant Baba
6 Kane
7 Yokozuna
8 Abdullah the Butcher
9 Big Van Vader
10 The Giant
11 Kamala the Ugandan Giant
12 Mark Henry
13 One Man Gang
14 Giant Machine
15 Giant Haystacks
16 Masked Superstar II
17 Scott Norton

Group A
Seed Wrestler 1 Andre the Giant 16 Masked Superstar II 17 Scott Norton 32 Roadblock
Andre the Giant vs Roadblock The top seeded Giant was not here to entertain you, wasting little time and seemingly less effort in pinning poor Roadblock within a minute
Masked Superstar II vs Scott Norton Scott Norton gets the W via a Superstar DQ. Superstar overcame an early pin attempt to control the middle of the match, but eventually his emotions caught up with him and he slammed Norton into a ringside table, earning a disqualification and loss.
Andre the Giant vs Scott Norton Another quick one for Andre, he pins Norton within 10 moves to move to an easy 2-0 in Group play.
Masked Superstar II vs Roadblock A back n forth affair saw a lot of defense and a lot of mild offensive attacks. Masked was in semi-control of the match when it went out of the ring and this time Masked was the winner via a table smash DQ, sending Roadblock to 0-2.
Andre the Giant vs Masked Superstar II The third table smash DQ of Group play saw Andre end with a 3-0 record. But credit goes to Masked Superstar II, he gave Andre by far his most competitive match of the round, using a tactical defensive gameplan to keep the Giant at bay and counter his early attacks. Andre eventually wore the smaller foe down with a series of powerful attacks. Perhaps feeling desperate during an out of the ring tussle, Superstar whacked Andre over the head from behind the table and did so in clear view of the referee. And that was a DQ for him.
Scott Norton vs Roadblock A long, drag 'em down affair. Each wrestler survived multiple pin attempts and count outs. Eleven minutes into the match, with the combatants barely able to stand on their feet, the action went outside of the ring. Once on the arena floor, Norton delivered a match-ending press slam that laid Roadblock out for good. The match was awarded bonus points for being the Match of Group A.

Seed Wrestler 2 Gorilla Monsoon 15 Giant Haystacks 18 Giant Bernard 31 Stan Hansen
Gorilla Monsoon vs Stan Hansen A much tougher match than the selection committee envisioned when they put a 2 and 31 next to these two grapplers. Monsoon wins via a DQ when Hansen would not cease and desist during an out of the ring brawl. Each wrestler rolled out of two pin attempts; Hansen controlled the match 60/40, the DQ was a tough result for his fans to swallow.
Giant Bernard vs Giant Haystacks A lengthy match featuring five combined unsuccessful pin attempts. Haystacks appeared in control and was moving in for the kill when Bernard rolled away from a deadly elbow crusher. Bernard was able to capitalize on the stunned and winded Haystacks for a quick pin. This was a great match.
Giant Haystacks vs Gorilla Monsoon Haystacks rebounded from his tough loss to similarly Giant'ed Bernard with a DQ win over Gorilla Monsoon when Monsoon smashed him into the ringside Gatorade table. Monsoon had the upper hand for most of the match but was unable to seal the deal. It was likely frustration with his inability to end the match that led to his out of the ring antics.
Stan Hansen vs Giant Bernard Non-stop action is what the promo promised, and non-stop action is what these two pros delivered. By the end of the match the mat was painted with the blood of each combatant. Hansen grabbed the hard earned win when he came off the top turnbuckle with a flying cross body block and rolled Bernard up into a quick 1-2-3. Bernard had survived two previous pins but the turnbuckle move was too much for him to quickly recover from.
Gorilla Monsoon vs Giant Bernard Another close match that ended in a DQ; that seems to be the theme of this group. Gorilla dealt the larger share of the damage, which explained Bernard's move of desperation. He lured Monsoon out of the ring and in thinking the ref wasn't looking, walloped Gorilla with a golden mic stand. Monsoon dropped to the concrete unconscious and the ref immediately ended the match and DQ'ed Bernard. The win put Monsoon at 2-1 and allows him to advance out of the Group. All three of Gorilla's matches ended in DQs.
Stan Hansen vs Giant Haystacks The first draw of the Super Heavyweight tournament caused accusations of a rigged scoring system from Hansen's fans - we'll get to that in a second, but first a match recap. Hansen was winning all match, had multiple pin attempts and it only seemed like a matter of time for his hand to be raised in victory. Sensing this inevitably, Haystacks (knowing a Draw would advance him via tiebreaker over Hansen) took the action out of the ring and engaged in a never-ending brawl. He kept slugging and clutching Hansen until the ref had no choice but to declare a double DQ. Wow, what an ending.
Results
2 Gorilla Monsoon 2-1 15 Giant Haystacks 1-1-1 * 31 Stan Hansen 1-1-1 18 Giant Bernard 1-2 * Haystacks wins tiebreaker over Hansen by virtue of his victory over Monsoon

Seed Wrestler 3 King Kong Bundy 14 Giant Machine 19 Blackjack Mulligan 30 Papa Shango
Papa Shango vs King Kong Bundy This one was over almost before it started. A clearly agitated Bundy tossed Shango out of the ring right after the opening bell and proceeded to wail away like Shango stole something. The ref was having none of it and gave King Kong the boot and DQ. It was a win for Shango, but this reporter didn't see him do anything other than get hit for 90 straight seconds.
Giant Machine vs Blackjack Mulligan Sometimes you're the pigeon, sometimes the statue. This time the fans were the statue as they sat through a crappy, uneventful match that had only one pin attempt on each side. Mulligan could sense the crowd's malaise so he took the easy way out with an out of the ring DQ giving Machine the victory.
Giant Machine vs Papa Shango A verrrrryyyyy long match saw Shango run out to the early advantage, but his three early pin attempts were all kicked out by Machine. After the 3rd try, Giant Machine clearly had enough of this nonsense and he took control of the match resulting in two pin attempts. At the 13 minute mark each grappler was gassed and they essentially collapsed in each other's arms outside the ring leaving the ref no choice but to double DQ them, resulting in a draw.
Blackjack Mulligan vs King Kong Bundy An even event with King holding the slightest of advantages but he couldn't turn that into enough pressure to end the match. What did end it was a melee outside of the ring, an unsatisfying draw for all involved.
Blackjack Mulligan vs Papa Shango A tense battle with each side fighting for the right to advance. Unfortunately Shango overplayed his hand and was caught whacking Mulligan upside the skull with a human skull!!!! That act earned Blackjack the victory via DQ.
Giant Machine vs King Kong Bundy Giant Machine made easy work of Bundy whose mind was elsewhere all tournament (finishing with a terrible 0-2-1 record as the overall 3 seed). Machine hit King Kong with the head butt - body slam - Machine Crush finisher combo and that was it. Bundy didn't even try to fight his way out of the pin.

14 Giant Machine 2-0-1 19 Blackjack Mulligan 1-1-1* 30 Papa Shango 1-1-1 3 King Kong Bundy 0-2-1
* BJM advances by virtue of a head to head win over Shango

Seed Wrestler 4 Big John Studd 13 One Man Gang 20 The Godfather 29 Master of Pain
Big John Studd vs Master of Pain Studd came out amped up and was tossing Pain all over the ring when MOP countered a turnbuckle move to gain the advantage. From that point on Master dominated the match and had four pin attempts, each of which Studd was able to weasel out of. Studd was then able to goad Pain into dueling outside of the ring where Pain grabbed a nearby fan's 16 oz. Labatt draft and tossed it right into Studd's face. Apparently that was enough for the ref, who use the beer facial as an excuse DQ Master of Pain and grant Big John Studd the questionable victory.
The Godfather vs One Man Gang Godfather had his way with Gang, tiring him out with successive Ho Train moves, the second of which resulted in Gang being pinned, ending the match.
Big John Studd vs The Godfather Studd asserted his size advantage and was able to subdue Godfather after a devastating Backbreaker finishing move just four minutes into the match. Studd's 2-0 record guarantees his advancing to the next round.
One Man Gang vs Master of Pain Gang was all over MOP early and often. He was able to soften him up with a series of blows, then landed a 747 Splash for the pin.
One Man Gang vs Big John Studd OMG rag dolled the complacent Studd from corner to corner. On the 5th pin attempt Studd stayed on his back, giving OMG the victory and a 2-1 record.
The Godfather vs Master of Pain Despite having a chance to get to 2-1 and tie OMG and Studd for 1st, Godfather would be the odd man out once the tiebreaker rules would be applied. So knowing he couldn't advance, Godfather paid off MOP to take a dive with the promise off supplying Pain one of his stable of Hoes.
Results
4 Big John Studd 2-1 13 One Man Gant 2-1 20 The Godfather 2-1* 29 Master of Pain 0-3
* The Godfather loses the tiebreaker based on a combo of Pin vs DQ wins and a head to head w/Studd.

Seed Wrestler 5 Giant Baba 12 Mark Henry 21 P.N. News 28 Nord the Barbarian
Nord the Barbarian vs Giant Baba A fast paced even affair saw these mountains trade pin attempts for the first few minutes. Nord was able to seize control of the match and then caught Baba off guard with a Running Leg Drop into a pin cover that Baba was not able to fight out of.
Mark Henry vs PN News PN was squarely in command for most of the match but Henry's unmatched power allowed him to toss his opponent off during some early pin attempts. Eventually Henry's strength and perseverance were the difference as he pinned a fatigued PN in the 12th minute. This was a great match, well fought on each side.
Nord the Barbarian vs Mark Henry A lot of early pins and smashing moves left each wrestler wobbly in the early going. Nord slowly turned the match in his favor when Henry grabbed The Barbarian's chair and whacked him over the head with it. While in most circles turnabout is surely fair play, the ref wasn't having any of it today and he disqualified Henry for using an illegal object.
PN News vs Giant Baba First off, let's state here that this was an INCREDIBLE match. It started with Baba unleashing all sorts of hell on PN in the form of Russian Legsweeps and Baba Chops that resulted in three pin attempts, but Baba was unable to keep the 400 and 1/2 lb man on the mat for the required three seconds, though it seemed like PN was operating on borrowed time. But somehow PN had just enough left in the tank to turn the tables on his 6'10" foe and he set about dealing out massive amounts of pain. It took PN five pin attempts behind a bevy of Broken Records and Standing Sentons to finally count Baba out. And now at 0-2, the Giant will not be moving on.
Mark Henry vs Giant Baba Neither grappler could gain an edge or deal significant damage in the opening moments. They circled the ring and each other, looking for openings that clearly weren't there. Baba tried to up the tempo and climbed atop the turnbuckle; the Giant himself up that high was a sight to behold. Henry quickly rose to his feet and grabbed Baba before he was able to leap off the turnbuckle and executed the World's Strongest Slam. The finishing move knocked the wind out of Baba just long enough for Henry to get the victory by pin.
Nord the Barbarian vs PN News Nord ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED PN in this match. Numerous chair attacks to the head and boots to the face softened PN up to the point that when Nord finally went for the pinfall behind his Running Leg Drop finisher it was all over for PN. Nord finished atop the Group at 3-0, sending a message that even though he's ranked 28th he will be a forced to be reckoned with.

Seed Wrestler 6 Kane 11 Kamala the Ugandan Giant 22 Sycho Sid 27 Prince Albert
Sycho Sid vs Kane This was over before it started; Sid slapped Kane around a bit, then grabbed the big man in a Choke Slam right into a successful pin for Sid.
Prince Albert vs Kamala the Ugandan Giant This even but uneventful match saw Albert take control when he reversed a Kamala turnbuckle attempt into a Train Wrecker 1-2-3 leaving Kamala beaten and on the mat searching for answers.
Sycho Sid vs Prince Albert A new record for quickest saw Sid pin Albert in only two moves, with his trademark Release Powerbomb being the finisher.
Kane vs Kamala the Ugandan Giant Kamala was destroying Kane and well on this way to a victory when his supporters couldn't but help themselves with one too many ringside interference attempts causing Kamala to lose via DQ.
Kane vs Prince Albert Kane controlled the tempo and was able to keep Prince at arm's length when he suddenly turned on a switch with an out of the ring Military Press Drop. He then dragged a dazed Albert back into the ring and hit him with his Tombstone finisher. Three seconds later the ref was raising Kane's arm in victory.
Kamala the Ugandan Giant vs Sycho Sid Kamala was well on this way to an 0-3 Group play record when for some reason Sid tossed him out of the ring and then Sid grabbed a nearby spectator's metal crutch and leveled Kamala with it. A quick DQ followed, but it was a hollow and hurtful victory for Kamala.

Seed Wrestler 7 Yokozuna 10 The Giant 23 Rikishi 26 Typhoon
Typhoon vs Yokozuna The big Polynesian Yokozuna battered and bruised Typhoon in an almost inhumane manner, but he couldn't beat him or keep him down. Eight different pin attempts and serious damages inflicted had Typhoon one more pin attempt away from an auto 3-count. But it was not in the stars. Somehow Typhoon had the reserves to put a couple of moves on the big fella. A bearhug rendered Yokozuna stunned and Typhoon just about fell on top of his foe and stayed there for three seconds giving Typhoon one of the most improbable wins and comebacks of the tournament.
Rikishi vs The Giant Rikishi had Giant on the run in the opening moments; the only way The Giant could stop the Samoan's momentum was to scrum the match up. That's exactly what he did when he Press Slammed Rikishi onto the hard flooring system outside of the ring. No quicker way than to earn a DQ and hand Rikishi the victory.
Rikishi vs Typhoon Rikishi makes quick work of Typhoon ending the match in its early moments with a devastating Rikishi Driver.
The Giant vs Yokozuna The Giant made quick work of the 690 lb. Island Warrior bringing the match to a close in only its second minute with a shattering Chokeslam finishing move. Yokozuna could not roll his substantial mass off the mat with any level of haste.
Yokozuna vs Rikishi We finally got to see what all this Yokozuna hype was about. He used his 265 lb. weight advantage to manhandle his smaller Islander counterpart. There was no way Rikishi, or anyone else for that matter, was escaping the three count when Yokozuna landed his vaunted Banzai Drop finishing move.
Typhoon vs The Giant In a winner advances and loser goes home affair, the much smaller Typhoon (giving up 8" and 100 lbs.) was able to convert an early belly-to-belly powerslam into a successful pin attempt. Typhoon's win puts him at 2-1 and advancing to the knockout stage.
23 Rikishi 2-1 26 Typhoon 2-1 10 The Giant 1-2 7 Yokozuna 1-2

Seed Wrestler 8 Abdullah the Butcher 9 Big Van Vader 24 Viscera 25 Earthquake
Earthquake vs Abdullah the Butcher Butcher was unable to unfurl his trademark foreign object and use for nefarious attacks. This allowed Earthquake to consistently inflict damage resulting in consecutive Earthquake Splashes, the second of which resulted in a successful pin.
Viscera vs Big Van Vader Lots of early posturing with Viscera holding the early edge behind a big Samoan Drop. Viscera then tossed Vader out of the ring, where Vader took his cat o' nine tails and whipped Viscera across the back. The ref was laser focused on the action and DQ'ed Vader on the spot.
Earthquake vs Viscera A lot of reversals saw this mismash of 950+ lbs. take turns in the turnbuckle and out of the ring. Eventually Earthquake gained the upper hand and administered a series of exhausting Big & Earthquake Splashes. The offensive arsenal paid off, Viscera was beyond winded and out of pin escape opportunities when an Earthquake pin attempt following a masterful running jumping elbow laid out Viscera for good.
Big Van Vader vs Abdullah the Butcher Vader used his superior strength and agility to consistently control the match. The assault was non-stop and in seven instances Butcher was wobbled or down on his back. With his stamina fading, all it took was a big Vader Slam to plant Abdullah on the canvas for the required three seconds.
Viscera vs Abdullah the Butcher It was the same situation for Butcher; he's out gunned in all categories and was unable to reach into his substantial drawers to access his scalpel. Viscera battered and bruised Butcher left and right until a running elbow drop left Abdullah underneath a successful 487 lb. pin attempt.
Big Van Vader vs Earthquake In the final match of Group play, Van Vader made quick work of Earthquake, finishing him with a Power Bomb two minutes into the match. Each wrestler finished Group play at 2-1 and both will advance.
Results
9 Big Van Vader 2-1 25 Earthquake 2-1 24 Viscera 2-1* 8 Abdullah the Butcher 0-3
