I only play GWF, but thinking about starting Kronos & FTR which one came first? Are they GWF related?

Kronos came into being around 2096. It's only relation to the GWF is using the wrestlers.
FTR debuted somewhere around 2132 I believe (somewhere around there anyways) and is basically a GWF developmental league.

I was really unimpressed with FTR, and Kronos looks like you need a lot of GWF cards and lore to get it to work properly. For my money, you'd be better off jumping into Legends of Wrestling and/or the indie stuff.

For my money, you'd be better off jumping into Legends of Wrestling and/or the indie stuff. This is false. Kronos, when it restarted in color has bundles that can assist you, and are a lot less expensive than all of the Legends sets necessary to get the wrestlers you may want. Now, you'd have to work to get the Omega for Kronos as well as Chaos Supreme, Paralyze, and Sectarian The Barbarian but there are plenty of folks with extra copies that would part with them if you wanted to get in on all the lore. Regarding FTR, it's a developmental fed that has some great characters like Disciple of Terror, Captain Crossbones, King Tux, and Astarte. It's a low cost fed to get off the ground and really requires not a lot of funds as they have now released the FTR cards that came with Promoter Prime in bundles. I love FTR myself, but don't have the bandwidth for a Kronos fed. I can say that I have spent way more on Legends and Indies than I did on FTR and if I wanted to start a Kronos fed it would be cheaper than what I spent, again, on my Legends and Indies cards.

Thanks for the informative reply MaliceLover.
FWIW, I didn’t think anything about FTR was bad, per se. It just didn’t click with me.

I've been playing FTR and KRONOS more than the GWF recently myself, it really depends on what you are looking for. FTR for me is like a modern indie fed - Main event guys are awesome cards that would probably chase the IP title in the GWF, maybe upper midcard. KRONOS is bit more epic with wrestlers spanning the history of the game, most of them alt versions of what you may already know. Both are a lot of fun and scratch a different itch in the GWF Universe.

I only play GWF, but thinking about starting Kronos & FTR which one came first? Are they GWF related? Kronos came first as it was first brought to life with Classics 3000. That set was release back in the 90s and then all of the other "Classic" sets were released to build the history of the GWF. The new Kronos sets started as Promoter Prime cards but then morphed into complete sets and are much more aligned with the modern card rules and the storyline has a much more "epic" feel to it (as malicelover alluded to in his post). FTR (as malicelover stated) is a developmental fed. The characters are fun, but definitely have some "growing" to do to be on the same level as those in the GWF. FTR has great storylines to boot, it's just not guys getting experience, there's a lot going on there. As for getting all of the cards...best bet is to reach out to Tournament Master and Mike M and they can tell you exactly what you would need to get them all (or close to all due to a few limited-edition cards that were released in conjunction with GalactiCon and the other virtual cons.)

Things have been pretty much covered already. I will just add that FTR comes first...in the dictionary.

I love FTR and the concept of running a small developmental fed, with the opportunity to use the guys in the GWF as needed. Kronos is amazing, haven't even had a chance to start playing it yet, but it will eventually make an awesome project for me. You can't go wrong with either!
